RACE TWO

The Mark Rees stable has been in great touch in recent weeks and leading the charge has been JUMPING JACK JIMMY (8) who has hit the board in 7 of his past 8 starts, with 3 of those being victories. He takes his place after a dominant last start win from the front over the AP 2138m and despite the 2nd line looks up to this.

ITALIAN LAD (6) is the big query, arriving in Qld with Vicki Rasmussen after finishing down the line last time out in the Emerald Jewels at Cambridge behind SOUTH COAST ARDEN. A smart Addington winner the start prior, he has no favours from this gate at his 1st run at Redcliffe but must be respected.

ETERNAL PROMISE (7) found the closing speed to charge home along the passing lane last start to claim a mare’s qualifier. Buried in the run here, she will be ready to make a play when the lane presents.

MY ULTIMATE STAR (3) returns to Qld after returning to NSW for two trials since his last two starts were at Albion Park. Only 2m away last start, he is 2 from 3 on this track and can join in here.

SELECTIONS: JUMPING JACK JIMMY (8), ITALIAN LAD (6), ETERNAL PROMISE (7), MY ULTIMATE STAR (3)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE THREE

This edition of the Oaks looks open with no real standout putting their name forward. The front-line speed will be a big influence on this race and JASPER (7) will need some luck. With that scenario of LADY AVANA (1) showing the same hustle she has shown in some of her NZ performances, that will likely give the perfect trip to JASPER who has the talent to capitalise if the run presents.

SHES MISS DEVINE (6) was jammed up with the green saddlecloth last week in the 3YO Sales Final, but a tactical drive paid dividends and she was too sharp in defeating MANILA PLAYBOY. A replication of that will be required to add the Oaks, but in her favour, she loves The Triangle where she is a six-time winner and is in great touch with 4 wins on the bounce.

LADY AVANA (1) has had 2 starts since arriving in Qld, the latest when she was taking big strides over the latter stages to eat into the winning margin of GENERAL MONTANA. Strong in defeat when sitting parked first up, she has shown good speed out of the machine previously.

SPORTY DANCER (3) claimed some big scalps in scoring at her first appearance in Qld when defeating a strong field of 3YO’s up the passing lane. Where she positions from this alley is the big conundrum. If close enough she appears talented enough.

SELECTIONS: JASPER (7), SHES MISS DEVINE (6), LADY AVANA (1), SPORTY DANCER (3)
SUGGESTED BET: JASPER (7) to win

RACE FOUR

The first edition of the Showcase Final is a tricky affair with the bigger handicaps over the sprint trip meaning some of those out the back will need to be at the top of their game. ARTFUL MAID (10) was mighty impressive in her heat victory which followed a top run in a strong mare’s event behind SAUCY DREAMS. With 8 wins on this track, she can arrive once again.

BIG GEM MONTANA (3) rolled forward in the heat to sit parked and was ultimately too strong in claiming a 4m victory. Adam Sanderson had the choice between this guy and ARTFUL MAID and perhaps a solid lead can be taken in that he opts to stick with this guy who will ultimately be off the front tape if the emergency is not required.

MAGICOL IDEAL (7) warmed up for his run in the heat of this with an all the way win over the AP mile. On the 3-day back-up he was then wide when chasing for the bronze behind ARTFUL MAID. Slowly away last week, a better start will be a big help.

ITS MR CLOONEY (9) was sent out as fav in his heat and was trying to make closing ground when 3rd behind BIG GEM MONTANA. With the right trip he can be make a play for a podium position.

SELECTIONS: ARTFUL MAID (10), BIG GEM MONTANA (3), MAGICOL IDEAL (7), ITS MR CLOONEY (9)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE FIVE

If Australian harness fans would have suggested the first time they got to see KRUG (5) compete this side of the ditch was at The Triangle, there may well have been a few sniggers. Alas, the thirteen-time winner takes his place in the strongest Redcliffe Derby field ever assembled. With Anthony Butt flying in to partner the start colt, they should simply be too powerful.

WATTS UP SUNSHINE (4) has a NSW Derby placing next to his name and has 2 wins in his 3 starts since arriving in Qld. Pressing forward to take control from gate 6 last start, he packed too many guns for his opponents. The early toll will be vital to how much he has to offer late here.

CAPTAIN CRUSADER (7) tackled the strong 3YO event two weeks back and from the 2nd line was back in the pack. Searching for runs to the wire, he was only a half-neck in arrears of the winner. If the gaps arrive, he will be chiming in.

GENERAL MONTANA (1) faces a stern test here after winning his past 2 in succession without really being overly extended from the front. He comes up with the options to give himself every chance to finish in the money.

SELECTIONS: KRUG (5), WATTS UP SUNSHINE (4), CAPTAIN CRUSADER (7), GENERAL MONTANA (1)
SUGGESTED BET: KRUG (5) at the shorts

RACE SIX

Two heats were separated by sex for this final and despite the fillies gaining the preferential draw, the boys might just have the edge. Asked to work hard in the heat from the six-hole R ELEVEN ART (9) loomed up before TEDDY DISCO swept by. He can look to secure a trial through from the 2nd line and given plenty of time to progress, can strike when the stakes are high.

TEDDY DISCO (5) was a winner here on debut and backed that up with a fast-finishing 2nd when running the states best 2YO DANGERZONE to 3m in the Breeders Classic Final. Eased away from inside the 2nd line early here in the heat, he had all the moves in arriving for the prize. He will throw it down.

ROSES ARE SWEET (3) is undefeated in 2 career starts, with a Breeders Consolation victory complementing her heat win here last week. Showing good hustle from the Hilux, she can be at the pointy end in the early stages.

O B LEGAL (6) was locked away in the heat and when sighting open space, really attacked the line in smart fashion to grab the silver. A winner here 3 starts back when finishing strongly, the gate stings.

SELECTIONS: R ELEVEN ART (9), TEDDY DISCO (5), ROSES ARE SWEET (3), O B LEGAL (6)
SUGGESTED BET: R ELEVEN ART (9) to win

RACE SEVEN

Heats of this series were held on June 16 where GOTTAHAVEAHOBBIE (11) claimed victory in his heat when powering home over the top of them in the closing stages. Settling in the 1x1 trail in the run, it was a smart win and followed a tidy 3rd to ADRENALINE RUSH. The tempo looks strong enough for him to descend on them here.

WHICH HUNT (4) cast a spell that put spiders all around her in the run in her heat victory, with no opponents wanting to go anywhere near her. With a strong closing 800m put down in leading throughout, it had followed some luckless efforts at Albion Park. Limiting the early burn will be key.

JEWEL OF PEAK (1) set the speed in front and battle on for the silver as GOTTAHAVEAHOBBIE swept over the top late to score. She has the speed out of the machine to feature once again.

MOLLYS SECRET (3) will be further tightened from her latest outing when 2nd up from a spell. Settling in the 1x1 trail in transit, she was well beaten behind WHICH HUNT. Place claims appeal.

SELECTIONS: GOTTAHAVEAHOBBIE (11), WHICH HUNT (4), JEWEL OF PEAK (1), MOLLYS SECRET (3)
SUGGESTED BET: GOTTAHAVEAHOBBIE (11) to win

RACE NINE

Only three horses in this line-up have ever traversed The Triangle in a race and of those it is only OUR OVERANOVA to have tasted success. Despite those figures CLAUDYS PRINCE (4) looks well-placed from the 10m tape to take advantage in this. After finishing 2nd across the line in 4 successive starts, he cashed-in last start with a dominant win. He can go again.

RED CASTLETON (9) has not had a start under race conditions but has trialled here prior to resuming this campaign. That was a mobile trial where his time would have eclipsed the track record showing he can certainly handle the track configuration. Not too far away in both return runs, he will throw it down here.

OUR OVERANOVA (10) has the big advantage of ringcraft at Redcliffe with 7 wins and 3 minors in 13 attempts here. 10m from CLAUDYS PRINCE last start, he meets him 10m better and it would be no surprise to see him arrive.

GODOFTHUNDER (2) has been in consistent touch but has just been unable to convert it to a victory. Placed in 3 of his past 4 starts, he was only collared in the last stride last time. He is right in the fight once again.

SELECTIONS: CLAUDYS PRINCE (4), RED CASTLETON (9), OUR OVERANOVA (10), GODOFTHUNDER (2)
SUGGESTED BET: CLAUDYS PRINCE (4) to win

RACE TEN

Not much went in his favour in the Patrons Purse but CRUNCH TIME (4) will land the opportunity to bounce back here. At his best when rolling out in front, he was buried last start yet was still finishing strongly. A big winner when power running a 1.51.6 mile in front at The Creek 2 starts back, he smashed the clock as a 3YO from the front here last season and this looks ripe for a repeat.

LIFES BLACK (1) comes up with the right gate and with the early speed can look to secure the economical trip behind the speed. A winner here 3 starts back when firing off the arm and taking them all the way, he has not really been suited at his past 2 starts. The gate gives him a chance.

YOUNG CONQUEROR (2) was having his first appearance in Qld when tackling a Cup warm-up from the tapes. Using the passing lane to grab 3rd behind CLINTAL DO. He can tuck in here to place.

GOOD AS IT GETS (3) has 3 wins and a pair of 2nds in his half-dozen outings here at Redcliffe. Chasing gamely to hold 3rd behind SPIRIT OF ST LOUIS last start, he can be close enough to find the minors again.

SELECTIONS: CRUNCH TIME (4), LIFES BLACK (1), YOUNG CONQUEROR (2), GOOD AS IT GETS (3)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 4 / 1-2-3-7-8
