The Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club today announced the four invitees for the return of the $37,500 Group 3 Orson Allen At Stud Superstayers Invitational (710m) to be held on June 24 at Albion Park.

The selection panel considered performances of greyhounds who competed in the recent Group 1 Sandown Cup series, Group 3 Lizrene Speed Star Series and looked at Group race staying performances around Australia, with greyhounds with roots in four different states set to battle it out for the crown.

The invitees for the 2021 edition of the event are: Five Star (Paul Abela), Maggie Moo Moo (Darren Johnstone), Sir Truculent (Wally Harkins/Tony Brett) and Zipping Niseko (Tony Brett).

2021 TAB Origin Distance winner Barsandi for David Richardson will be the sole reserve for the event.

Together, the four greyhounds have notched 75 wins and accumulated just over a half a million dollars in prizemoney.

Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club CEO Luke Gatehouse said the quality of the Superstayers field is a testament to a well-planned Winter Carnival of riches in the Sunshine State.

"The Superstayers is an event that we mark in the calendar each year to showcase the best staying talent in the country and this year is certainly no exception with the field we have attracted," he said.

"Every greyhound will get their chance to position themselves at the top of the staying ranks and it provides a perfect lead in into the Group 1 TAB Queensland Cup series commencing on July 1."

Albion Park will be the place to be on Thursday night with no less than five feature races alongside the Group 3 Orson Allen at Stud Superstayers Invitational.

The supporting card includes the Listed $37,500 TAB Super Sprinters (520m), $15,000 Garrard’s Tempest (600m), $15,000 Chairman’s Trophy (710m) along with the $15,000 TAB Thunder (395m) and Lightning (331m) Finals over the short course journeys.

The action on Thursday night isn’t just limited to the track, with delicious food and drink in Pacers and Chasers Bistro, live music from Jesse Emmanuel and a ‘Superheroes’ themed night for the patrons on course with visits from superheroes themselves.
