RACE 1 - 12:18pm MEMBERSHIPS @ BRC CLASS 3 PLATE 1500M

2nd- Staying Black – Stuart Kendrick – Ryan Maloney

3rd – Dreaming of Biscay – Matthew Dunn – Robbie Fradd

Trainer – Barry Lockwood

“I thought he could sprint well first up I just wasn’t sure how far we’d get back in the run and if we’d get a crack at them.”

“The leader ran them along and Sean (Cormack) put him in a stalking position behind the favourite and was able to save that sprint for when it counted.”

“The horse hasn’t been with me too long but I’m very impressed with what I’ve seen, very clean winded and I think he’ll get out to the mile and beyond as soon as next start.”

“He’s going on five, but he’s lightly raced and that’s a great start for him at the stable.”

Jockey – Sean Cormack

“Barry was really happy with the way he worked during the week and said you’ll probably have too much ground to make up but he’ll hit the line.”

“Getting the sit on the favourite won us the race, he did all the work to pull the leader back and my guy just followed him into it.”

RACE 2 - 12:57pm XXXX DRY QTIS TWO-YEARS-OLD HANDICAP 1400M

1st – Mishani Epic – Les Ross – Jimmy Orman

2nd- Bellissimi Amici – Robert Heathcote – Adin Thompson

3rd – Tumbler Ridge – Stuart Kendrick – Boris Thornton

13.jpeg

Trainer – Les Ross

“I’ve been a bit disappointed with him so far this preparation, he was a long way off them first up at Doomben and then again was a good five lengths of Tumbler in his last start.”

“I said to Jimmy (Orman) before the race I expected him to improve by a couple of lengths, but I didn’t see that coming.”

“That’s the first time he’s really got to the outside and let go, it’s good to see that talent’s there.”

Jockey – Jimmy Orman

“He was pretty plain last time out, couldn’t really pick up his feet when they sprinted.”

“Les (Ross) thought he’d improve and to just ride him cold and see if he could run on and as soon as we got off the rail and into the clear he just kept picking up.”

RACE 3 - 1:37pm SOUTHS SPORTS CLUB BENCHMARK 75 HANDICAP 2425M

1st – Brocson – Michael Lakey – Adin Thompson

2nd- Ruby Guru – Michael Nolan – Nick Keal

3rd – Holbrook – Scott Morrisey – Michael Hellyer

15.jpeg

Trainer – Michael Lakey

“He loves the 2400 metres if we had more races over further, I’m sure it wouldn’t trouble him either he just keeps on running.”

“Adin (Thompson) has been on him his last three starts now for a couple of seconds and todays win, the light weight makes a difference but he’s a good young rider too.”

“He usually gets so far back in the run he tends to place a lot, we were able to land a bit closer today and he was always going to stick on best in the straight.”

“We do a lot of his work down at Sandgate Beach, he’s nine years old now and I think it keeps him young having a play around in the water.”

Jockey – Adin Thompson

“Michael got in touch about getting me on the horse with a light weight, knowing he was a true stayer it would really help him.”

“He’s a very easy horse to ride, just one paced grinds it out he loved the distance.”

RACE 4 - 2:17pm TULLOCH HOUSE BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1000M

1st – Papa Jo – Lindsay Hatch – Brad Stewart

2nd- Spending My Time – Paul Nolan Jr – Robbie Fradd

3rd – I Am Venus – Kelly Schweida – Jimmy Orman

16.jpeg

Trainer – Lindsay Hatch

“He hasn’t raced at Toowoomba much, but we thought we’d pick off a winnable race early in the campaign and he’s come here today full of confidence and done the job.”

“Barrier one was a big advantage for him with his racing pattern we planned to be prominent in the run and it worked out.”

“I’ve always had a big opinion of this horse since he was a baby, he’s had a lot of foot issues but hopefully he’s over them now and we can start looking at some more races.”

Jockey – Brad Stewart

“Not a whole lot to it, we had the nice gate he bounced well and put himself where he needed to be and was very sharp when I asked him for something.”

“He could definitely see more ground in the future he wasn’t getting tired.”

RACE 5 - 3:00pm GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB OPEN HANDICAP 1500M

1st – Get Stuck In – Tony Gollan – Baylee Nothdurft

2nd- Shogun Sun – Kelly Schweida – Jim Byrne

3rd – The Avenger – Chris Waller – Michael Cahill

17.jpeg

Trainer – Tony Gollan

“Prioritise is a horse that usually leads, but with the earmuffs on today we thought if we bounced well we could press on and take the lead.”

“Baylee (Nothdurft) has ridden him in a dozen race starts now, he knows him really well and just got him to settle beautifully, get some easy sectionals and leave some gas in the tank.”

“We were confident coming here today, beaten last time out by a very good horse in Emerald Kingdom when we ran on very well and he went on with it today.”

“I think we can keep him up around the mile and perhaps pinch a Black Type with him, he’s put together a good career record.”

Jockey – Baylee Nothdurft

“I spoke to Tony about taking the front with him, there wasn’t much pace in the race and when we jumped better than Prioritise, I was happy to roll forward.”

“It’s something I haven’t done before on him but it’s all about rhythm and he settled well and put them away pretty soft.”

RACE 6 - 3:42pm ASCOT GREEN QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD HANDICAP 1000M

1st – Bold Style – Garnett Taylor – Mark Du Plessis

2nd- Leadership Spill – Tony Gollan – Steph Thornton

3rd – Modelka – Toby & Trent Edmonds – Robbie Fradd

20.jpeg

Trainer – Garnett Taylor

“We thought he could run a bit of a race today and got on at one hundred to one yesterday, so we’ve got a very happy stable.”

“I was going to put him in at Gatton today, thank god I didn’t.”

“He’s always been a good horse just gets himself in trouble, after he won his maiden in Cairns he blew his knee out which plagued him for a long time.”

“We got him back healthy and he was set to run at Toowoomba the other week before he got his leg stuck in the gate.”

Jockey – Mark Du Plessis

“We were able to push through the middle of the front three runners at the start and I just had to pull him back a bit when he wanted to keep going.”

“He gave back under me before the turn and was just tough right up the straight, every chance to get beaten but he didn’t.”

RACE 7 - 4:18pm MOET & CHANDON CHAIRMANS CLUB QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD HANDICAP 1600M

1st – Star of Michelin – Stuart Kendrick – Steph Thornton

2nd- Dee Day Diva – Robert Heathcote – Robbie Fradd

3rd – Profit – Chris Anderson – Brad Stewart

23.jpeg

Trainer – Stuart Kendrick

“We were a bit disappointed last start he ran a really brave race without winning, but Steph took luck out of the equation today took him to the outside and that was really impressive.”

“I wanted to see a performance like this from this gelding before I made future plans, the way he did it today I think a race like the Guineas over the mile would be ideal for him come winter.”

Jockey – Steph Thornton

“We actually jumped fairly well we just got bumped around early and ended up a way back.”

“He travelled so beautifully even when I pulled him out at the top of the straight I didn’t need to tap him with the stick he just warmed into it and went straight by on his own.”

“Being such a big long striding horse I think that’s the way to ride him, get him to the outside and let him stride out.”

RACE 8 - 4:55pm TAB BENCHMARK 80 HANDICAP 1845M

1st – Benfica Princess – Kelly Doughty – Jackson Murphy

2nd- Galtero – Tony Gollan – Baylee Nothdurft

3rd – Plitvice – Robert Heathcote – Adin Thompson

23-1.jpeg

Trainer – Kelly Doughty

“Her last two runs have been really promising she’s just found trouble and not been able to get in the clear.”

“Jackson got her into a beautiful spot in the run and got her to the outside just at the right time, that’s where she wants to be.”

“She ticked a lot of boxes today her work had been excellent and up to the 1800 metres was another positive, good to see her back in the winner’s circle.”

Jockey – Jackson Murphy

“I rode the horse for the first-time last start and she was absolutely bolting at the finish we just didn’t get out in time.”

“We were buried away again today but she really appreciated the big Eagle Farm straight and was really strong to the line.”

RACE 9 - 5:30pm EVA AIR CLASS 6 PLATE 1200M

1st - Boomtown Lass - Chris Anderson - Mark Du plessis

2nd - I am Vinne - David & Coral Freek - Andrew mallyon

3rd - Tardis - Toby & Trent Edmonds - Ryan Maloney

25-1.jpeg

Trainer - Chris Anderson

"If i could have picked one horse in the stable that deserved a win it would have been her, she's just so honest and has been around the mark all prep."

"I thought we had the race in our keeping from around the 600, the leaders really set a strong tempo and Mark (Du Plessis0 gave her the perfect trail into the race."

"If there's one weaknes with this mare is she likes to wander around a bit when she hits the front and it almost cost her again today."

"She's won in excess of $400,000 now and i think she's only going to add to that going forward, i really think there's a nice stakes race in her after a quick spell."

Jockey - Mark Du Plessis

"It couldn't have worked out much better in the run, we wanted to be forward without going kamikaze and we got the perfect sit on the leaders."

"She does like to have a think about it when she finds the front, but to her credit when she heard the hooves coming she stuck her head out and got it done."
