The Ipswich Showgrounds remain an Evacuation Centre for Ipswich residents impacted by severe weather conditions. Racing at the facility is permitted with the cooperation of the Ipswich City Council and the Ipswich Show Society and as such restricted conditions of use will apply for Ipswich race meetings as follows:

  • Only essential racing personnel, required to attend the race meetings for the purpose of racing a greyhound, will be permitted to enter the Ipswich Greyhound Racing Club.
  • Members of the public will not be permitted to attend.
  • On site catering will be limited to food and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Parking restrictions will apply with a parking plan to be disseminated to participants on Monday March 7.

RQ and the Ipswich Greyhound Racing Club have taken appropriate measures to address the biosecurity risk associated with non-racing animals using the kennel block and surrounding areas during the flood evacuation.

Trainers are reminded that full and current vaccination is recommended to provide protection against preventable diseases at all times.  Full and current vaccination means that dogs have received a minimum of:

  • C3 vaccinaton between 6 – 8 weeks of age;
  • C5 vaccination between 10 –16 weeks of age;
  • C5 vaccination between 12 –16 months of age; and
  • C5 booster vaccination each year thereafter – unless a veterinarian certifies that a greyhound is otherwise protected to C5 level.
