RACE TWO

LIVING FREE (4) looks ideally suited to these conditions with his early speed out of the machine and from gate 4 he can be set alight to get across them. He led them up last start at Marburg but faded in the closing stages and the start prior he came out humming from gate 5. The short-course looks right up his alley.

MAGHERA MAGGIE (5) was a winner here 8 starts back and has been in the money at 5 of her 7 appearances since that win. Grinding away at her past 2 starts, including finishing 3m from the winner WESTERN SHOWGIRL in a Heat 2 starts back, she can be thereabouts, yet the gate stings her chances.

OUR CHAMPION (1) started fav in the last Heat of the weekly lead-up events from this same gate. Hustling to keep them wide, he couldn’t fight them off when fading in the stretch. Looking for a trail this time, he can fill the minors.

SELECTIONS: LIVING FREE (4), MAGHERA MAGGIE (5), OUR CHAMPION (1)
SUGGESTED BET: LIVING FREE (4) to win

RACE THREE

PATCHWORK JET (5) will start in barrier 4 with a re-shuffle to the front line and comes into the race following a handy effort here on Thursday. Not much worked out when he contested Heat 4 of this Series and was looking for some gaps that didn’t present in time behind BEEF CITY STARZZZ. Swooping home for a nice win over the 1780m here 2 starts back, he can look to power home over the top of them.

PEGGY STARDUST (4) will move to barrier 5 after making an error on Wednesday night that will see her become an outside draw horse until clearing the embargo. After a string of minor placings, she was able to breakthrough for the victory in that race on Wed when finishing best to claim the 3m victory.

CRUSIN ALONG (3) provides plenty of speculation to this race with the 8YO having his 1st race start in 956 days, a tick over 1 day per metre of this contest. He has trialled twice to blow out the cobwebs in readiness and has previously shown that he has plenty of speed when the mobile releases the field. A big watch on this fellow.

SELECTIONS: PATCHWORK JET (5), PEGGY STARDUST (4), CRUSIN ALONG (3)
SUGGESTED BET:

RACE FOUR

Don’t be fooled by the 4 duck-eggs next to the name of SHEZ GOT BLING (2) in her 4 outings here on the triangle. There are genuine excuses for each of those and now she finds herself in a small 4 horse field where she will get a chance to utilise her superb gate speed. Ignore the numbers, she can sparkle under these conditions.

LAZY BLAZE (1) makes his return to the track following a spell and has been to Albion Park for a trial to prepare for his return. With some speed when the Hilux pulls away, he should be able to secure an economical run in transit, ready to make a closing play in the stretch to add to his 5 wins here at the track.

SHADYS DELIGHT (3) is one of two three-year-old’s in the race, the other being IMA BEACH BABE. Only beaten an eyelash here 2 starts back, he will be sitting off the speed and ready to issue a closing challenge.

SELECTIONS: SHEZ GOT BLING (2), LAZY BLAZE (1), SHADYS DELIGHT (3)
SUGGESTED BET: SHEZ GOT BLING (2) to win

RACE FIVE

DONT CALL ME (1)
is racing in good form and comes into this with a win and 2 minor placings in his past 3 starts. Racing over the longer 2040m trip 2 starts back, he showed enough early speed to keep them wide and dictated throughout to land a half-head victory. He will be relying on some luck as he looks like being crossed, but can still arrive for the prize.

MAFFIOSO GIRL (4) was eased back from this gate last start over the 1780m distance and from back in the pack was always going to struggle with the last 400m set in a sizzling time from the front. A winner here 5 starts back when circling the field from a 2nd line barrier to work to the front, she can win if it turns into a gun-fight.

MAJOR LUCKY (5) faced this same gate when DASHING HANNAH bolted clear to set the benchmark for the series. Eased back in that event, he was doing his best work in the closing stages. Stung by 5 once again, he can make a late charge.

SELECTIONS: DONT CALL ME (1), MAFFIOSO GIRL (4), MAJOR LUCKY (5)
SUGGESTED BET: DONT CALL ME (1) to win

RACE SIX

This race is the ‘unofficial’ Trot Rods Championship with all 5 combatants having won a heat through the 8-week lead up to tonight. The clubhouse leader coming into Super Sunday was DASHING HANNAH (4) is tailor-made to these conditions. Lit up to scorch across from gate 3 to find the front, she didn’t give them a look-in thereafter, laying down the time with 12m to spare. Rinse and repeat.

WESTERN SHOWGIRL (1) claimed her heat when landing in for the run behind the leader, securing a soft trip and then making the closing shot a winning one. Last start back out to the 1780m she tried to take them all the way when fading in the closing stages. Gate 1 is her friend.

BEEF CITY STARZZZ (5) was the recipient of arguably the drive of the #TrotRods series when claiming his heat victory. Staying out of the early pace, angled to the inside and then making the closing shot a winner when angled back into the open, similar tactics can pay dividends here.

SELECTIONS: DASHING HANNAH (4), WESTERN SHOWGIRL (1), BEEF CITY STARZZZ (5)
SUGGESTED BET: DASHING HANNAH (4) to win

RACE SEVEN

STREET APPEAL (5)
had to do it the tough way last start when cutting the breeze outside the leader from gate 7 over the AP mile. With the last 800m run in sharp time, he was in for the fight when finishing 2m from the winner BLACKSADANCE. A winner of his previous 2 starts, he can get forward and prove too tough.

ILLAWONG DREAMTIME (4) can begin like a gazelle when lit up and gate 4 over the 1 lap scamper looks the ideal time to put the lighter on the fuse as they approach release. Not suited from a 2nd line gate last start, he closed strongly when only 6m in arrears. A 7-time winner here on the triangle, he will be in the fight.

LETTERKENNY BOY (3) was wide off the track 2 starts back and kept punching away to the line, but couldn’t quite make the delivery when beaten 3m. Backing up from Thurs where he faced  tricky gate, he will need to chase them down.

SELECTIONS: STREET APPEAL (5), ILLAWONG DREAMTIME (4), LETTERKENNY BOY (3)
SUGGESTED BET: STREET APPEAL (5) to win

RACE EIGHT

GRIZZLY MONTANA (1) finds the perfect time to land his best gate in 2020, having been no closer than gate 4 at his past 14 starts. He was doing his best work late when only 4m from the winner 2 starts back and gate 7 at AP didn’t suit last start. With good speed out of the machine, the final heat looks his.

WITH THE BAND (4) lines up here at her 1st run back from a spell and has opened the pipes here at Redcliffe with a smart trial victory. This will be her 1st look at the track under race conditions which shouldn’t be an issue as the trial and this also being her home training facility show she can handle the triangle. A winner at 5 from 7 in Aus, she can challenge.

AQUA CRUISER (2) has early speed, but probably won’t be able to muster enough of it to cross to the front. Only 2m away when runner-up last start, he can look for the early trail to then take the closing shot.

SELECTIONS: GRIZZLY MONTANA (1), WITH THE BAND (4), AQUA CRUISER (2)
SUGGESTED BET: GRIZZLY MONTANA (1) to win
