RACE TWO

Proving to be a revelation since crossing the Tasman, the Dixon trained MAJORCA (10) went within a flared nostril of remaining undefeated after being grabbed in the last stride here last week by UNCLE SHANK. A winner in her 5 races leading into the big Final, she comes up with the tough gate but looks to have the class to overcome it.

BRAEBEACH (4) has shown that he has plenty of talent but also has some vices that are yet to be ironed out. Making an error in a Peak of the Creek heat last time where he was first up, he was banished to the trials and gained a race return with a sharp Marburg workout. At his best he can throw down the challenge.

GOING FOR GOLD (1) struck trouble last start, ending his chances in a heat of the Peak. With no luck the start prior from gate 7 which followed a win from gate 6, the inside alley gives him options to feature.

LE TISSIER (5) progressed to the G2 Peak Final last week where he was wide off the track and trying to launch a closing raid from this same gate. It will be tricky again but podium claims appeal.

SELECTIONS: MAJORCA (10), BRAEBEACH (4), GOING FOR GOLD (1), LE TISSIER (5)
SUGGESTED BET: MAJORCA (10) to win

RACE THREE

Heats for this Final were held nine days ago and after easing from gate 6 to find the running line, KEAYANG MARVEN (8) was able to get the cart into the race on the back of BOMBADIER JUJON before pulling clear for a smart victory. Likely to be camped on the leaders back, he can hit the target by taking the snipers shot.

BOMBADIER JUJON (1) is the big winner of the barrier draw and with the added fitness taken from the heat of this Series, can look to take full advantage. Working home wider off the track to grab 2nd to KEAYANG MARVEN, he was fresh in that heat following an all the way win here 2 starts back. The gate will see him challenge hard.

GOVERNOR JUJON (11) will take plenty of benefit from his heat run where he was resuming from spell after his last campaign lasted just 2 starts. Finding the 1x1 trail from gate 2, he was still driving on the line but came up a head short. The gate makes it tough, but his class cannot be ignored.

ITALIAN LAD (10) was snagged off the arm from the five-hole in the heats to sit rearward before making a wide run. Unable to get into the money as a prohibitively short-priced favourite, it had followed an all the at win from gate 7. He will need to be wide here.

SELECTIONS: KEAYANG MARVEN (8), BOMBADIER JUJON (1), GOVERNOR JUJON (11), ITALIAN LAD (10)
SUGGESTED BET: KEAYANG MARVEN (8) to win

RACE FOUR

Once again the 2138m trip for this feature might ask some questions that some of the combatants cannot answer. The distance will be no issue for CAPTAIN NEMO (2) who has been racing in nice touch, coming into this with a last start 2nd when just a half-neck from ITALIAN LAD after sitting parked and grinding hard. A return to his own age bracket looks ideal.

BIG WHEELS (5) was returning from a spell for last week’s 3YO feature when sent around them in the early stages from gate 10 to sit parked. IN for the fight he continued to give to the line, holding on for the silver when 2m shy of the winner CHAMONIX. Fitter for that run, he can look to throw it down.

CHAMONIX (9) made the most of drawing off the front line, albeit wide, to stay in front of his main danger last week, pressing on to find the front and then fight them off. Resuming from the Qld Debry in that outing, he can chime in again.

MANILA PLAYBOY (7) has no favours from the wide gate for a first-up run but has been to the trials twice to prepare for his resumption. 3 starts back from gate 6 he claimed he G1 Triad and cannot be underestimated.

SELECTIONS: CAPTAIN NEMO (2), BIG WHEELS (5), CHAMONIX (9), MANILA PLAYBOY (1)
SUGGESTED BET: CAPTAIN NEMO (2) to win

RACE FIVE

Resuming from his Triad victory here last week off the back of a tidy trial AWAYWEGO (3) showed plenty of early hustle to be first to the pegs before taking the trail on TEDDY DISCO. Just peaking on his run in the stretch, he held on for 3rd when within 2m. Fitter for that run, he can fire the early bullets here and look to capitalise.

LEAP TO FAME (1) returns from an NSW Breeders tilt where he was unable to progress past the heats after finishing 9m from SMALTESE. Heading South off the back 4 successive wins here at The Creek, the latest of those when crossed early before moving out for a re-take and then zipping up the stretch in a 27.2 closer to score. He looms large.

TEDDY DISCO (6) was fired out of the machine last week and continued to press on in taking the front through a 26.4 opening panel. Able to back it off nicely with a 62.4 middle, he had the power to finish them off. From gate 7 this week, he might need to come with one run.

BANGKOK DEEJAY (2) is the big query in this race, resuming here for just his 3rd career start after breaking through at his 2nd start in the Breeders Classic Consolation. Opening the pipes with a smart trial, he can bob-up.

SELECTIONS: AWAYWEGO (3), LEAP TO FAME (1), TEDDY DISCO (6), BANGKOK DEEJAY (2)
SUGGESTED BET: AWAYWEGO (3) to win

RACE SIX

Despite running some super races of late, SCARLET BABE (2) has been doing it from wider gates, starting no closer than gate 5 in her past 5 outings. Forced to hang tough outside the leader last week, she was game in defeat when beaten an eyelash. Better suited with a closing shot, she can land it.

THE STUNNING NUN (3) has a super record since linking with Jason Grimson, winning 7 of her 10 appearances under his care. Resuming from a spell 3 starts back with a narrow win at 2300m, she had to take on the ‘boys’ when 11m from EXPENSIVE EGO. Too slick in the slop last start, from the front she will take catching.

FAME ASSURED (1) started from inside the 2nd line last start and was soon into the running line and trying to launch a closing raid when 8m from JERADAS DELIGHT. With the cosy trip she can chime in.

JERADAS DELIGHT (6) secured the perfect 1x1 trail here last week in the Queen of the Creek and in a sizzling closing panel had the power to arrive in the last stride. The gate is a real dampener but she will be trying to offer.

SELECTIONS: SCARLET BABE (2), THE STUNNING NUN (3), FAME ASSURED (1), JERADAS DELIGHT (6)
SUGGESTED BET: SCARLET BABE (2) to win

RACE EIGHT

In beast mode at present with 4 super victories secured in succession, with  all recorded under differing patterns MACH DA VINCI (3) looks the one that they need to beat. Unleashing from deep in the pack to claim the Be Good Johnny here last week in some sizzling closing panels, he comes up with the gate to take an early shot, but either way his versatility is the big selling point.

SPEECH IS SILVER (9) was not seen in the Sprint lead up here last week and will come into this battle after finishing midfield behind BLACKSADANCE at the mile 2 starts back. At the rear of the pack at each of his past 2 starts from wide gates, he has smashed the clock with his sectionals in all 5 starts since returning from a spell. He will need a slice of luck but is up to the task if it goes his way.

KANENA PROVLIMA (2) slid back from gate 5 here last week to position 3 back along the pegs and from there it was an interrupted run to the wire yet was within 2m of MACH DA VINCI. Tucking in can see him on the podium.

MAJESTIC CRUISER (6) was slammed with gate 10 in the Len Smith Mile last start when charging home to be under 4m from the winner THE BLACK PRINCE. Trying to make a late play in the Victoria Cup the start prior, gate 6 is the sticking point.

SELECTIONS: MACH DA VINCI (3), SPEECH IS SILVER (9), KANENA PROVLIMA (2), MAJESTIC CRUISER (6)
SUGGESTED BET: SPEECH IS SILVER (9) each-way

RACE NINE

Tackling the Qld Oaks 2nd up from a spell when sent to the front from this same gate CHRISSY CHIC (3) was fighting but unable to repel them when finishing 5th. Freshened her next 3 outings were all victories from tough draws with successive Menangle wins following a Penrith victory. Huge in defeat last start in an Australian record, she looks too classy.

JASPER (2) will take good benefit from the run last week when returning from a spell. Sent around them from the 2nd line to sit parked outside SHES MISS DEVINE, she was able to fight hard and made a closing lunge to be just a head from the winner. Darting across to be first to the poles here can put her in a challenging position.

SHES MISS DEVINE (6) will also be fitter from last week’s return to the track where she fired off the arm and from the front was able to see it out and hold them off in the stretch. The draw is not as favourable, but she will be in for the fight.

CATCH PHRASE (1) started from this same gate last week when buried in the run. Attacking the line strongly over the closing stages to grab 2nd when just a half-head away, a similar trip can see her chime in again.

SELECTIONS: CHRISSY CHIC (3), JASPER (2), SHES MISS DEVINE (6), CATCH PHRASE (1)
SUGGESTED BET: Exotics 3 / 1-2-6 / 1-2-6

RACE TEN

Meeting stronger opposition than what he will face off against here, these look ideal conditions for FIRST STRING (4) to capitalise upon. Better suited in front or outside the leader, the 2nd line dented his hopes in a Peak of the Creek heat. Just 7m from KIWIS ARE FLYING after sitting parked, he gets his chance here.

GLENEAGLE WARRIOR (1) set the tempo here last week from this same alley at the mile after having little trouble in leading. Trying to fight them off, he could not see it out and had to settle for the bronze behind HERBS HERO. Gate 7 beat him the start prior and from the ace, he has options.

BALDUCCI (8) was sent to the poles last start as GLENEAGLE WARRIOR set the speed in front. The pegs were the place to be, and he was able to force clear to get within a head of the winner. Once again, he will be probing.

THE HUMMER (5) was a winner here 3 starts back when firing off the arm from the inside alley and once in control was never in danger. He may need to do some heavy lifting here.

SELECTIONS: FIRST STRING (4), GLENEAGLE WARRIOR (1), BALDUCCI (8), THE HUMMER (5)
SUGGESTED BET: FIRST STRING (4) to win
