Desleigh Forster has a big team of horses set for the TAB Queensland Summer Racing Carnival with a young filly proving to be an exciting prospect for the Eagle Farm trainer.

After a recent stint in quarantine following Apache Chase and Georgie’s Pride’s gallant Sydney efforts, Forster has plans for her strong stable of gallopers all mapped out for the summer months into 2022.

It will start on the Gold Coast this Saturday afternoon with the fresh Red Chase in the Listed Recognition Stakes while stable newcomer Bright Rubick was set to have her first run for the Forster yard but that has been slightly delayed.

“Hopefully on Millions day early next year we will have Chapter And Verse in the QTIS race, Apache Chase in the Cup and George’s Pride in the fillies and mares,” she said.

“They all have nice races as lead-ins to the Millions.

“We sort of target these races and we will space their runs out.

“The two have come back nice and fresh from Sydney so we will target these races now.”

But, it is the early form and potential of two-year-old filly Exo Lady that has Forster smiling the most.

While connections of the Exosphere youngster have not paid up for the Magic Millions early next year, there are still nice races on the agenda for the unbeaten filly before she looks towards the winter of 2022.

Forster thinks the best is still yet to come for Exo Lady.

“She has a nice future this filly,” Forster said.

“She is not one dimensional, because she has jumped and led in her two races, I think she will be a better chaser when she learns, when she has something in front of her that she can chase – she will be a totally different horse.

“I really like her. She is built like a little colt. Since she has gone out and come back, she grown and developed into a really nice filly now.”

After he second career victory in late October, Exo Lady spent a week away from the stable on the treadmill.

Forster, who hails from Ilfracombe, thought about putting Exo Lady away for the summer – giving her a long break into the winter carnival - but will now target the Listed Calaway Gal next month at Eagle Farm before the Group 3 B J McLachlan Stakes at Doomben on Boxing Day.

“She is a pretty exciting little filly,” Forster said.

“What she is doing right now is just on raw ability. She is nice and fresh.”

Looking ahead, Forster believes the trip south of the border will only benefit Apache Chase and Georgie’s Pride – thinking the long float trip away might just be the making of the pair, only adding to their maturity.

Apache Chase was brave in the $7.5 million Golden Eagle, the trainer says, thinking he should have finished inside the money if he got a better run.

“They have come back and they have not missed a beat,” she said.

“It was lucky they went away together as they are good mates.

“They have come through it all well, they will have a trial at Deagon next week to top them off nicely.

“It was a good experience for the horses to get away, give them a trip, it does them the world of good.”

Apache Chase will now aim towards The Gateway, which will be run at Eagle Farm on December 11, providing a ‘win and you’re in’ for four-year-old’s into the Stradbroke Handicap.

Speaking of NSW, Bright Rubick was set to make her debut for the stable this Saturday after previously doing her racing around the Scone area.

Previously trained by John Ramsey and owned by his family, Bright Rubick has won four from 22 with her connections hopeful of nabbing some black-type racing while based in the Sunshine State.

Forster nominated the chestnut mare for Saturday’s Listed Fillies & Mares Classic and the Benchmark 80 Handicap over 1200 metres, but later opted to delay her first start for her yard.

“We are trying to chase a little bit of black-type for the owners,” Forster said.

“She has done everything right since she has been here, she is a mare that does everything right.

“She goes through the motions. Her form is ok; she might need to improve a little bit to be competitive in races like this.

“I am very happy with her. John was training her down at Scone and with all the travel involved with the virus and what not, he asked me to take her on and see if we could get some black type for her.”

After his first-up assignment in the Recognition Stakes this Saturday at Aquis Park, Red Chase will move towards the Lough Neagh Stakes at Eagle Farm in the middle of next month.
