Stewards inquired into an incident that occurred leaving the 1200 metres. The evidence given was not able to be supported by the patrol films. Stewards established that GENERAL BEERS laid out shortly after the start and clipped the heels of ON THE WICKET, resulting in App. Aho becoming severely unbalanced and to lose her irons. GENERAL BEERS then took no competitive part in the race. Stewards were of the view that, though the incident was significant, it could not be attributed to any one rider. It was noted that GENERAL BEERS had a minor laceration to its near foreleg.
