When questioned both trainer M. Attard and Apprentice L. Attard expressed their disappointment with the performance. Trainer explained that he had instructed that the horse be ridden closer with a view to getting to the outside in the straight, however it was ridden back in the field, as per its previous start. Mr Attard said that he would freshen the horse up with a view to starting in approximately 3 weeks. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

1st - PARADIS IMPERIAL 2nd - ROYAL MYTH 3rd - CRIMSON STAR  4th -   FORGOTTEN FEELING

The declaration of correct weight was delayed while stewards considered an objection lodged immediately following the race by Jockey N. Day and trainer L. Rowe (PARADIS IMPERIAL) which finished 2nd, against ROYAL MYTH being declared the winner, alleging interference over the concluding stages.  After taking evidence from the parties involved, viewing the official patrol films and taking into account their own observations, stewards established that near the 200 metres ROYAL MYTH commenced to shift out under riding, which took PARADIS IMPERIAL out approximately 3 horses. Apprentice White stopped riding and straightened her mount. Shortly after this, again under riding, ROYAL MYTH shifted out under pressure, taking ROYAL MYTH out further. Given the margin of a short neck between the horses at the finish, stewards were of the opinion that had ROYAL MYTH not taken PARADIS IMPERIAL outwards, that horse would have won the race.  Accordingly, the protest was upheld and the placings amended as follows: 1st PARADIS IMPERIAL, 2nd ROYAL MYTH, 3rd CRIMSON STAR and 4th FORGOTTEN FEELING. Correct weight was declared on the amended numbers. Apprentice White was reprimanded.
