UBET – DOWNLOAD THE APP MAIDEN HEAT 1 395M

The greyhound BOGAN DANCER underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found and was passed fit to start.

HARA’S LEISHA was best to begin.  In the 1st turn LUCKMAN and JESS ROSE HI were tight and lost ground.  In the back straight SUSHI COWBOY shifted out checking LUCKMAN and JESS ROSE HI.  Shortly after, QUICK AND LIVELY checked off heels.  In the top turn BOGAN DANCER and SALLY FITZ collided and became severely unbalanced.

The handler of the greyhound BOGAN DANCER Ms L. Williams was questioned in regards to the circumstances surrounding the greyhound making its way onto the track unrestrained prior to kennelling. Ms Williams explained that the greyhound was able to break free from the kennel within her vehicle. As she had left the ramp down on the back of the vehicle the greyhound was able to exit of its own accord and make its way onto the track where it was subsequently caught by track staff.  The greyhound was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon before kennelling and stewards also ordered a pre-race veterinary examination. BOGAN DANCER was subsequently passed fit to start.

Following the event an inquiry was opened in relation to the betting activity concerning BOGAN DANCER. It was noted that the greyhound began as a $1.50 favourite on Ubet fixed price betting and evidence was also taken from the QRIC Betting and Intelligence Officer Mr A. Kitching who advised that significant wagering activity had occurred in relation to this greyhound. When questioned on the greyhound’s performance, in trainer Mr P. Lavis’ absence, handler Ms Williams stated that the greyhound had had a short spell following its previous start at Albion Park during which the trainer had worked extensively with the greyhound and that it had subsequently trialled well. As a result, connections were confident that the greyhound could perform well in this event. Stewards have undertaken to interview the trainer Mr P. Lavis at a date and time to be fixed.

Stewards inquired into an alleged incident involving trainer of PINK SUNSET Ms L. Williams and the trainer of CHARRUA Mr G. Friend both competing in race 2.  Ms Williams alleged that prior to the running of this race in the confines of the preview area, during the preview, that Mr G. Friend had made contact with her greyhound PINK SUNSET in a deliberate and malicious manner.  Ms Williams also alleged that Mr Friend had used inappropriate language towards herself at this time.  After taking evidence from both trainers Stewards determined that there was insufficient evidence to proceed with a charge.  Both licensees were reminded of their obligations to conduct themselves appropriately at all times when on course.
