RACE REPORTS

 

1.

ASSET BODY CORPORATE BRIBIE ISLAND NOVICE – 520M

NEXT ONE was marginally slow to begin.  At the 1st turn, BARRY BICEPS, HARA’S SKYLAH and TOOK A SELFIE were all tightened for racing room and lost ground.  In the back straight, HARA’S SKYLAH and TOOK A SELFIE raced tight and checked, losing significant ground as a consequence.  Leaving the turn into the front straight, BOYZ ONE shifted out and check into NEXT ONE and BLUE JAY JAY, causing all greyhounds to become unbalanced and to lose ground as a result. BARRY BICEPS and NEXT ON raced tight over the concluding stages of the race, bumping on occasion.

 

The greyhound TOOK A SELFIE underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

GARRARD’S HORSE AND HOUND 5TH GRADE (1) – 520M

MISS BECKBOO was best to begin, CRUMBED CUTLETS was marginally slow.  Leaving the 1st turn, HAY HONEY and GRAY GREY GOOSE raced tight, with GRAY GREY GOOSE checking off heels and losing considerable ground as a consequence.  HARA’S STEVO and SMASHNIAK BATMAN, which were trailing, were severely impeded and lost significant ground as a result.  Approaching the turn leaving the back straight, AVA SURPRISE and BROKE EVEN raced tight and checked.  GRAY GREY GOOSE, which was trailing, shifted wide to avoid those greyhounds.  GRAY GREY GOOSE and SMASHNIAK BATMAN raced wide through the turn into the front straight.

ASPLEY LEAGUES CLUB MIXED 4/5 – 600M

An even start. The entire field raced tight approaching the 1st turn. Leaving the 1st turn MISS PAIGE MAC was tightened for racing room and lost ground. Leaving the turn into the front straight, SMASHNIAK ICE shifted in which impeded HAY NANNY, causing both greyhounds to check and lose momentum as a result.

AGRO’S THUNDER was best to begin, GLORIA’S CHOICE was marginally slow.  Leaving the 1st turn, FANTASTIC RUFF and NAMROD raced tight and checked, causing NAMROD to lose ground.  FANTASTIC RUFF raced wide through the turn into the front straight.

 

The greyhound AGRO’S THUNDER underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to off pin and off wrist and was stood down for a period of 14 days.

THIRTY TALKS @ STUD QUEENSLAND DERBY (G2) OPEN HEAT 1 – 520M

EGYPTIAN MISS and HARA’S FLAME were both best to begin, TOOKA TRIP was marginally slow.  Approaching the 1st turn, VELOCITY CHARM was impeded and checked into ARABIAN GO DANI, causing both greyhounds to lose ground as a result.  Leaving the 1st turn, ONE DOLLAR improved onto the rear of EGYPTIAN MISS, causing that greyhound to drop back through the field and lose substantial ground as a consequence.  ARABIAN GO DANI and TOOKA TRIP, which were trailing, were impeded, causing both greyhounds to lose significant ground.

THIRTY TALKS @ STUD QUEENSLAND DERBY (G2) OPEN HEAT 2 – 520M

NAUGHTY MAX, LETHAL KID and BETTA BE QUICK were all best to begin.  Approaching the 1st turn, LETHAL KID checked off heels and lost ground.  Shortly after, STAR RING checked off heels and checked into PLUM JAM, causing both greyhounds to lose considerable ground as a consequence.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight, PRINCESS LIGHT came into contact with the running rail, and lost ground.  STAR RING and PLUM JAM, which were trailing, were impeded as a result and lost momentum.  LETHAL KID raced wide through the turn out of the back straight and for the remainder of the race thereafter.

 

The greyhound PRINCESS LIGHT underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

BOX 1 PHOTOGRAPHY BEST 8 – 520M

ANDA MARIE and DAISY DREAMS were both best to begin.  SISTER KIRSTY was slow.  Shortly after the start, SISTER KIRSTY improved onto the rear of MISS AMELIA, causing it to stumble and lose ground.  MISS AMELIA raced wide through the turn out of the front straight, on the 1st occasion.  Leaving the turn out of the back straight, ANDA MARIE was tightened for racing room, checked off heels and lost ground.  Leaving the turn into the front straight, ANDA MARIE improved onto the rear of DAISY DREAMS, causing both those greyhounds to become unbalanced and lose significant ground.    SISTER KIRSTY, which was trailing, was impeded and lost momentum.  ANDA MARIE, DAISY DREAMS and SISTER KIRSTY raced tight and bumped on numerous occasions over the concluding stages of the race.

FABREGAS @ STUD BOGIE LEIGHT FUTURITY (G2) OPEN FINAL – 520M

ALBURY WAY was best to begin, SIR TO YOU was marginally slow.  Approaching the 1st turn, SIR TO YOU was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Leaving the turn into the back straight, TUBBY TURNER checked off heels and lost ground.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight, COSMO BILL and GUTENBERG, were tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Leaving the turn out of the back straight, ACE commenced to yield ground and took no further competitive part in the race thereafter.  Leaving the turn into the front straight, SIR TO YOU checked off heels and lost momentum.

 

The greyhound ACE underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the near hip and off shoulder and was stood down for a period of 14 days.

STAR BILLING was best to begin, WAIKARIE NOEL and MEMPHIS were marginally slow.  Approaching the 1st turn, WAIKARIE NOEL and MEMPHIS checked and lost momentum.  Approaching the turn out of the back straight, COSMO CYNDIE checked off heels and lost considerable ground as a consequence.  Leaving the turn into the front straight, COSMO CYNDIE shifted wide and became unbalanced as a result.

 

The greyhound COSMO CYNDIE underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

SKY RACING MIXED 4/5 – 520M

RAPID BLAZE was best to begin, MISS GAMBLER was slow.  Through the 1st turn, the field raced tight, with SMASHNIAK WINX checking and losing ground.  Shortly after, HOLLY KNOCKS checked off heels and lost ground.  Leaving the turn out of the back straight, HOLLY KNOCKS was tightened for racing room and lost ground.  RAPID BLAZE raced wide through the turn into the front straight, and shortened its stride over the concluding stages of the race. 

 

The greyhound RAPID BLAZE underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

Stewards’ questioned licensed trainer, Mr J Dart, in relation to the performance of RAPID BLAZE, particularly about how it handled the turn into the front straight, and the concluding stages of the race.  Mr Dart stated, that it was in his view, the greyhound had problems taking this turn previously, and for some reason just finds itself lost on that turn.  It was his intention going forward that he would race the greyhound at other venues where he has found that it performs much better on those tracks.  Mr Dart also stated that the greyhound struggles to break 23 seconds over the distance.

FB.COM/BRISGREYS 5TH GRADE (2) – 520M

IMA CALLIM KLAY and INSIDE RACING were best to begin.  ZAHARA DYE was slow.  The field, apart from NEXT, IMMA CALLIM KLAY and ZAHARA DYE raced tight at the 1st turn, with all losing ground to varying degrees.  ZAHARA DYE, shifted wide to avoid those greyhounds, losing momentum as a result.  ZAHARA DYE remained wide for the majority of the race thereafter.
