1.

THIRTY TALKS @ STUD NOVICE (1) – 520M

MONEY FOR JAM was best to begin.  Approaching the 1st turn, CALYPSO BAY was tightened for room hampered. Through the turn into the back straight, GIVE IT SOME raced wide.  On entering the front straight, DOUBLE SPUR shifted out and bumped SHE’S SOME GAL.  Shortly after, PHANTOM HOUDINI checked out across the heels of DOUBLE SPUR and collided with CALYPSO BAY. 

 

Stewards’ questioned trainer, Mr S Scott, in regards to the improved performance of MONEY FOR JAM. Trainer S Scott advised stewards’ that the greyhound had been working well recently and expected a strong performance due to the vacant box (2) inside. Mr Scott added further that he supported the greyhound in tonight’s event.

ASSET BODY CORPORATE BRIBIE ISLAND NOVICE (2) - 520M

Shortly after the start, INFRARED LAD, STEAL A KISS and HOT EMBER all collided and were checked. Approaching the 1st turn, INFRARED LAD was tightened for room and checked.  Shortly after, ROSE HONEY collided with FARMOR ABOVE and was checked.  CHIEF SNOW raced wide in the back straight.  WILL EYE AM and HOT EMBER bumped on several occasions in the back straight. Through the turn into the front straight, ROSE HONEY collided with HOT EMBER, both runners were checked.  INFRARED LAD raced wide in the front straight.

GARRARD’S HORSE AND HOUND MA5 -  520M

DISCO DOLLY was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start, PORT LISA was tightened for room and lost ground. NIGHT TIME LOVER was tightened for room and checked. Approaching the 1st turn, SMASHNIAK MARCY and COOKIE NO CREAM collided and were both checked.  Through the turn into the back straight, COOKIE NO CREAM, SMASHNIAK MARCY and PORT LISA all collided and were checked. On entering the back straight, SMASHNIAK MARCY and PORT LISA were tightened for room and checked.  Out of the back straight into the turn, PORT LISA was tightened for room and hampered.  Through the turn into the front straight, DISCO DOLLY checked out across the heels of RAINBOW RUBY.  On entering the front straight, PORT LISA checked out across the heels of COOKIE NO CREAM.  Through the turn into the back straight, NIGHT TIME LOVER raced wide. NIGHT TIME LOVER raced wide in the front straight. 

 

The greyhound NIGHT TIME LOVER underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound SMASHNIAK MARCY underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the off side hock and was stood down for a period of 10 days

GEORGIE MAC was best to begin.  KENATAY began awkwardly.  Approaching the 1st turn, DRAW THE WHIP, SEDUCTIVE SMILE, SAMBUCCA HAZYE and KYELLA all collided and were checked.  Through the turn into the back straight, BLUE LEMONADE checked out across the heels of BAD NEIGHBOUR.  DRAW THE WHIP raced wide in the back straight.  In the front straight, DRAW THE WHIP and SEDUCTIVE SMILE bumped.

ASPLEY LEAGUES CLUB MIXED 4/5 – 520M

CAPTAIN TIL was best to begin.  Shortly after the start, JUST SPIFFING, MAN OF LEISURE, DONNY’S BEACH and NOOREE DESSA all collided and were checked.  Approaching the 1st turn, MAN OF LEISURE and DONNY’S BEACH collided.  Through the turn into the back straight MINSTREL MAN was tightened for room and checked.  TRUTH PREVAILS, which was trailing, collided with that runner and was checked.  Through the turn into the front straight, TRUTH PREVAILS was tightened for room and checked.  DONNY’S BEACH, which was trailing, checked out across the heels of TRUTH PREVAILS.

 

The greyhound TRUTH PREVAILS underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound MAN OF LEISURE underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

FIRST FIRE was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start, DREAM BLASTER and AUSSIE DIAMOND were tightened for room and checked.  FIRST FIRE, which was trailing, was checked.  Shortly after, KULU CHANCE was tightened for room and hampered.  On entering the front straight, DREAM BLASTER and AUSSIE DIAMOND collided.  DREAM BLASTER raced wide in the front and back straights.

MAGIC HORNET was best to begin.  Through the turn into the front straight, on the 2nd occasion, SMOOTH CLAUDIA and MAGIC HORNET collided.

 

Stewards’ question trainer Mr R Burman in regards to the performance of MAGIC HORNET. Mr Burman expressed his disappointment in the greyhound’s performance tonight and added that MAGIC HORNET had been working well with no issues. Mr Burman advised stewards that MAGIC HORNET won a trial on Sunday (29.4.18) at Capalaba and added that MAGIC HORNET would be dropping back to the 600m heats next week. Stewards noted Mr Burman’s comments.  

 

The greyhound MAGIC HORNET underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

ICONIC BEACH was best to begin.  BIG BAD BOB was slow to begin.  On entering the front straight, COSMIC BONUS and ICONIC BEACH bumped.

BOX 1 PHOTOGRAPHY 5TH GRADE (2) – 520M

JAY BAY, INDIAN GIVER and ROAD SCHOLAR were slow to begin.  Shortly after the start, JAY BAY was tightened for room and hampered.  Approaching the 1st turn, SMART MARLOW was tightened for room and checked in across the heels of PASSION BONUS. Out of the turn into the back straight, REGAL BILL and FARMOR IN TIME bumped.  JAY BAY raced wide in the back and front straights.  Out of the back straight into the turn, PASSION BONUS was tightened for room and was checked.  SMART MARLOW, which was trailing, improved onto that runner’s heels and was checked.

EXPAT LODGE BOARDING KENNELS 5TH GRADE (3) – 520M

DOLLAR AND CENT began awkwardly and lost ground.  COSMIC CAPERS AND SAINTY BONUS collided and were checked.  Shortly after the start, ONE DOLLAR and MR. BELVEDERE were both tightened for room and checked.  On entering the 1st turn, MR. BELVEDERE shifted out and collided with CAPTAIN LOUIE, which in turn shifted out and collided with DOLLAR AND CENT.  CAPTAIN LOUIE suffered an injury and took no further competitive part in the event. Through the turn into the front straight, MR. BELVEDERE checked out across the heels of ONE DOLLAR.

 

The greyhound CAPTAIN LOUIE underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the near hind back muscle and was stood down for a period of 28 days. Trainer Mr R Burman, advised stewards’ that CAPTAIN LOUIE would now be retired from racing.

SLEIGHT OF HAND was best to begin.  Shortly after the start, WILDASH NITRO and PHANTOM PETE collided.  Approaching the 1st turn, KULU TURKEY, SMALL JEWEL and PHANTOM PETE all collided and were checked.  VELOCITY ONYX raced wide in the back straight. 

 

The greyhound SMALL JEWEL underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.
