SHARHELIAN STAR was the best to begin.

FABULOUS STORY and ARTHUR’S STEVIE bumped on the turn into the back straight resulting in both greyhounds losing ground.

Stewards questioned the performance of TRENDY HAWKE in the race, trainer G Thomson could offer no reasonable explanation except that the dog did not travel well from Townsville.  A veterinary examination of the greyhound revealed no abnormalities.  Subsequently Stewards acting under the provisions of GAR 71 stood TRENDY HAWKE down from racing until the completion of a satisfactory trial for an unsatisfactory performance.
