VINCE CURRY MEMORIAL MAIDEN IPS (G3) HEAT 3 520M

The “All Clear” for this race was delayed to allow stewards’ the opportunity to view the patrol film to ascertain whether the positioning of the lure in the back straight, advantaged or disadvantaged any greyhound.  After viewing the patrol film, stewards’ were satisfied that no greyhounds’ chances in the race were materially affected by the placement of the lure and therefore gave the “All clear”.

LET’S WIN BILLY and NIKKI NETTLE were best to begin.  Leaving the front straight, MANACLES was tightened for racing room, shifted out and collided with ROCKY SPIES, which in turn, shifted out and collided with INFRARED STAR, resulting in all greyhounds to be checked and lose ground.  Approaching the turn into the back straight, LET’S WIN BILLY, NIKKI NETTLE and CAESAR’S WARRIOR collide, resulting in all greyhounds to be checked and to lose ground.  Entering the back straight, STOP THE IMAGE was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Shortly after, CAESER’S WARRIOR was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.   In the front straight, LET’S WIN BILLY and MANACLES collide on a number of occasions.

Stewards’ question trainer, B Kitchener, in regards to the greyhound LET’S WIN BILLY actions throughout the race, in particular, rounding the turn out of the front straight and then again entering the front straight.  After considering all available evidence, stewards’ could not be comfortably satisfied that the greyhound had offended under any rule, and therefore gave it the benefit of a grave doubt.
