Stewards’ Trial

The greyhound, FROSTY FLYER, performed a satisfactory stewards’ trial, over a distance of 288m, in the time

 of 17.12, and is cleared to race all tracks.

RACE REPORTS

 

1.

POWER SERVICE and ALPHA PHOEBE were both best to begin.  SHAWSY was marginally slow.  GALWAY PANTHER and SHAWSY raced tight at the 1st turn, resulting in GALWAY PANTHER shifting out and SHAWSY to ease and lose ground.  GALWAY PANTHER raced wide at the turn into the back straight, and also in the back straight. SHAWSY eased approaching the turn into the back straight and lost ground. SHAWSY eased approaching the top turn and lost ground. GALWAY PANTHER and WERINAL LIGHTNING raced wide through the turn into the front straight, and for the remainder of the race thereafter.

 

Stewards advised the trainer of the greyhound SHAWSY Mr Gregory Stella, that the greyhound would be charged under R69 (a) Failure to pursue 1st offence and would be stood down for a period of 28 days and would need to perform a satisfactory stewards trial.

 

The greyhound SHAWSY underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound POWER SERVICE underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

SKY RACING 0-4 WINS – 431M

SORRENTO was marginally slow to begin.  Approaching the turn into the front straight on the 1st occasion SAY GOOD DAY checked off the rear of MAGIC BARB and shifted out as a result.  SORRENTO, DUDE PERFECT, FLYAWAY BARB and IMA RUNAWAY which were trailing, were momentarily impeded as a result, and shifted wide losing considerable ground as they did.  Leaving the turn into the back straight SAY GOOD DAY checked off heels and lost ground.  Approaching the top turn IMA RUNAWAY was tightened for racing room and lost ground. 

 

At the conclusion of Race 2, Stewards’ questioned licensed trainer Mr M Emery in relation to the performance of the greyhound ORBIT THE SUN.  Mr Emery stated that as a result of the cancellation of a race meeting the previous week and his greyhound not getting a run, he felt that the greyhound’s performance was underdone today and he expects it to improve in the future as a result of today’s run.

 

The greyhound ORBIT THE SUN underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

NOOREEE DESSA was best to begin.  FROST BEJAY and BRASS ROAD were both slow.  Approaching the turn into the back straight, FROST BEJAY was tightened for racing room, checked off heels and lost ground as a result.  Approaching the top turn, SIVAMET was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Approaching the turn into the front straight, SIVAMET checked off heels and lost ground.

TRUCK PARTS EXPRESS MASTERS HEAT 2 – 431M

GOT THERE was slow to begin.  Approaching the 1st turn INTERACTION was tightened for racing room and lost ground.  Approaching the top turn CHEEKY CHANCE was tightened for racing room and lost ground.  Immediately after, INTERACTION improved onto the hindquarters of CHEEKY CHANCE and at the same time GOT THERE improved onto the hindquarters of INTERACTION, causing both CHEEKY CHANCE and INTERACTION to lose ground.  INTERACTION commenced to yield ground approaching the turn into the front straight.  GOT THERE raced wide through the turn into the front straight.

 

The greyhound INTERACTION underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

At the conclusion of race 4 stewards questioned licenced trainer Mr Gary Keep in relation to the performance of the greyhound INTERACTION. Mr Keep stated that the greyhound hadn’t run out the distance effectively and that it was in the twilight of it’s racing career and may be getting close to retirement.

STANKY LEG was best to begin, HOME LUCK was slow.  At the 1st turn, FAB JESSIE was tightened for racing room, shifted out and checked into SHE’S INYA FACE causing both greyhounds to lose ground.  Approaching the top turn, BERGAMO improved onto the rear of DISCO DOLLY, causing both greyhounds to lose momentum and significant ground as a result.  Shortly after FAB JESSIE checked off heels and lost ground.  Leaving the turn into the front straight, SHE’S INYA FACE was impeded and shifted in checking into FAB JESSIE, causing both greyhounds to lose ground.  Prior to the finish, AUSSIE DIAMOND was impeded and shifted in.

COFFEE AT RONI’S 5TH GRADE (1) – 431M

FABRIQUE was best to begin.  The entire field, apart from ENJOY THE SHOW, raced tight and checked at the 1st turn, with all losing ground to varying degrees.  Leaving the turn into the back straight, TUNDRA STORM stumbled and lost significant ground. ANOTHER RED which was trailing was impeded and FABRIQUE which was trailing that greyhound checked off heels and lost considerable ground as a result.  Approaching the top turn, WHEATACRE, ANOTHER RED and TUNDRA STORM raced tight and checked, with all greyhounds losing significant ground.  FABRIQUE, which was trailing was impeded and lost momentum.  Approaching the turn into the front straight, WHEATACRE checked off heels and then severely checked into TUNDRA STORM, causing both these greyhounds to become severely unbalanced and lose substantial ground as a result. 

 

The greyhound TUNDRA STORM underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

ROCKFORD was slow to begin.  Approaching the 1st turn ROCKFORD checked off the rear of SWEET KARMAR, causing both greyhounds to lose ground.  Approaching the top turn, SWEET KARMAR was impeded and checked off heels.  SWEET KARMAR and POLLY’S MAID raced tight over the concluding stages of the race.

SKY RACING BEST 8 – 520M

SNAKEY KATIE and CAPTAIN TIL were both best to begin.  SWIFT NIMROD was tightened for racing room attempting to shift out in the front straight on the 1st occasion.  Approaching the turn into the back straight, SNAKEY KATIE commenced to yield ground and took no further competitive part in the race thereafter.  At the top turn CAPTAIN TIL was tightened for racing room and lost ground.  Leaving the turn into the front straight KNOCKER KNOCK was momentarily impeded and shifted out.

 

The greyhound SNAKEY KATIE underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an injury to the off side hock and was stood down for a period of 90 days

GOTCHA MONEY was best to begin.  MUSTANG NOVE and KAPPA NU were both slow.  Approaching the 1st turn CHIPPIES was tightened for racing room and lost ground.  MUSTANG NOVA which was trailing was impeded and checked off heels.  Leaving the turn into the back straight, HERACLES and JAYCEE’S LADY raced tight and checked.  KAPPA NU commenced to yield ground from the back straight onwards. 

 

The greyhound KAPPA NU underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an injury to the near hind back muscle and was stood down for a period of 21 days

Even start.  General tightening resulted in ARABIAN GO DANI checking off heels and losing ground.  Approaching the turn into the back straight, ARABIAN GO DANI and VELOCITY RADINKA were tightened for racing room and lost ground.  Approaching the top turn, BEST STRATEGY was tightened for racing room and checked losing significant ground as a result.  VELOCITY RADINKA, which was trailing, was impeded as a consequence and lost ground.  Approaching the turn into the front straight, BEST STRATEGY checked off heels and lost ground. 

 

The greyhound ARABIAN GO DANI underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound BEST STRATEGY underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an a back strain injury and was stood down for a period of 10 days
