Even start, with the exception of GRAY GREY GOOSE and ANGELS ARE REAL, which were both slow to begin.  Shortly after the start, POWDER and FROSTY BLACK JAY collide.  Through the 1st turn, POWDER, FROSTY BLACK JAY and BIG HERO SIX were all tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Leaving the back straight, REAL JAZZ and ANGELS ARE REAL were both tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Entering the front straight, REAL JAZZ shifted out, which hampered the running of BLUE GIRL BLUE and POWDER.

 

The greyhound BLUE GIRL BLUE underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

SKY RACING MAIDEN HEAT 2 – 431M

Even start, with the exception of SHEZA NIKITA which was slow to begin.  Through the 1st turn, the majority of the field, with the exception of LONG ROAD HOME, were tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Approaching the turn into the back straight, SPUR ON was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Shortly after, it collided heavily with BAGS IT’S MINE resulting in both greyhounds to be severely checked and lose considerable ground.  SHEZ NIKITA, which was racing to the outside of BAGS IT’S MINE, was severely checked and lost considerable ground.

 

The greyhound SPUR ON underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

Even start.  Through the 1st turn, BROKEN YOLK and COST A PENNY were both tightened for racing room, severely checked and fell and took no further competitive part in the race.  BONITA DE KAHN, which was trailing, was severely checked and lost considerable ground.  Entering the back straight, STOP THE IMAGE was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.

 

The greyhound COST A PENNY underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound BROKEN YOLK underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

ALPHA 390 FINANCE NPW – 431M

SPRING SAL, BONDI GIRL and TURBO ROY were best to begin.  Shortly after the start, WERINA LIGHTNING checked across heels and lost ground.  Through the 1at turn, ROSUDE BARISTA was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  WERINA LIGHTNING raced wide for the majority of the event.

Even start.  Shortly after the start, FARMOR IN TUNE and SAIL SURFER collide.  Through the 1st turn, WAYCOL BILL, SAIL SURFER and FANTASIA LEE were all tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.

KAYPAT LODGE 5TH GRADE (2) – 431M

Even start.  Shortly after the start, BELVEDERE BABE, LILLY PILLY LASS and SPRING RUBY all raced tight.  Through the 1st turn, SPRING COLLEEN and LET’S GO FABIO collide, resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and to lose ground.  Approaching the turn into the back straight, BINALONG ROAD was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Leaving the back straight, BINALONG ROAD was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  BINALONG ROAD raced wide round the turn into the front straight.  BELVEDERE BABE gave ground over the concluding stages of the race.

 

Stewards’ advised trainer, Mr R Attard, that the greyhound BELVEDERE BABE would be charged under Rule 69a, Failing to Pursue 2nd Offence, 3 months and greyhound must perform a satisfactory stewards’ trial over a distance of 431m, all tracks.

Even start.  Through the 1st turn, SMALL JEWEL was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Entering the back straight, NUMBER TEN was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.

GREG STERNBERG VET SURGEON MIXED 4/5 – 520M

Even start.  Shortly after the start, FARAHMAC was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Shortly after, STROGANOFF was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Rounding the turn out of the front straight, WOOLOOGA was tightened for racing room, shifted out and contacted the heels of PRATER’S PROMISE, resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and to lose ground.  STROGANOFF raced wide in the back straight.  During the latter stages of the race, APOLLO’S WARRIOR and AUGUST FLAME collided on a number of occasions.  

 

The greyhound PRATER’S PROMISE underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the near side toe and was stood down for a period of 10 days

 

Stewards’ question trainer, Ms J Linnan, regarding the greyhound STROGANOFF’s actions in the front straight shortly after the start, where it appeared that the greyhound may have eased.  After considering all available evidence, stewards’ could not be comfortably satisfied that the greyhound had offended against any rule, and therefore gave it the benefit of the doubt.

 

The greyhound STROGANOFF underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

Even start, with the exception of NINNIE NEGRONI which was marginally slow to begin.  Approaching the 1st turn, SIN CITY KITTY and GIFTED ANGEL were both tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Shortly after, JOHN’S CHOICE was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Leaving the back straight, SPRING LEMON improved onto the heels of SASSY OAKS, resulting in SASSY OAKS shifting out and contacting the hindquarters of SMART WERINA, which resulted in SASSY OAKS, SPRING LEMON and SMART WERINA all to be checked and to lose ground.  Approaching the turn into the front straight, JOHN’S CHOICE shifted out, which tightened the racing room of SIN CITY KITTY and SPRING LEMON, resulting in both greyhounds to be checked and to lose ground.  NINNIE NEGRONI and SIN CITY KITTY raced wide round the turn into the front straight.

Even start, with the exception of MR. RALPH which was slow to begin.  Shortly after the start, SURE SHOT, GOOD GOLLY OLLY and WILLY TOULA all raced tight.  Approaching the 1st turn, WHITE EAGLE and LEST WE were both tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Through the 1st turn, WHITE EAGLE and LEST WE were both tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Entering the back straight, GOOD GOLLY OLLY was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Shortly after GOOD GOLLY OLLY collided with LEST WE, which was trailing, resulting in both greyhounds to be severely checked and lose considerable ground.

 

The greyhound GOOD GOLLY OLLY underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound LEST WE underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.
