Stewards’ Trial

The greyhound FIRED UP AGAIN performed a satisfactory stewards’ trial, over a distance of 288m, in a time of 17.09, and is now cleared to race.

 

RACE REPORTS

 

1.

MASTER TIDE was best to begin.  Shortly after the start, WHAT’S THE FEAR was tightened for racing room and lost ground.  Approaching the top turn, MASTER TIDE and WIGGLE WABBLE raced tight and checked, causing both greyhounds to lose significant ground as a result.  WHAT’S THE FEAR raced wide through the top turn and for the remainder of the race thereafter.  MISS EMMY raced wide through the turn into the front straight, and for the remainder of the race thereafter.

SKY RACING MAIDEN – 431m

BULLSEYE DOUBT was best to begin, PHANTOM ROAD was marginally slow.  JAKEY BOY, SUPER CETTE, HONEY BE GOOD and VAGABOND raced tight and checked shortly after the start.  Shortly after, JAKEY BOY and VAGABOND checked, causing both greyhounds to lose ground.  Leaving the 1st turn, SUPER CETTE shifted out and ran onto VAGABOND, causing SUPER CETTE to lose substantial ground as a consequence.  Approaching the top turn, BAGS IT’S MINE was tightened for racing room and lost momentum.  Approaching the turn into the front straight, BAGS IT’S MINE checked off heels and lost ground.  PHANTOM ROAD and SUPER CETTE raced tight and checked over the concluding stages of the race.  Approaching the finishing line, BAGS IT’S MINE turned its head and attention to the greyhounds racing on its inside. 

 

The greyhound VAGABLONDE underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound BAGS IT’S MINE underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the near side gracillis and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

 

Stewards’ advised trainer, Mr S Woods, the greyhound BAGS IT’S MINE would be charged under Rule 69 (b) Failing to Pursue with Injury, 10 days, and greyhound must perform a satisfactory stewards’ trial, 431m all tracks.

CICADA was slow to begin.  Approaching the 1st turn, GRU and ROCKY SPIES were tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground as a result.  Shortly after, SPUR ON improved onto the rear of SWAP ME, causing SPUR ON to stumble, shift out and lose significant ground as a consequence.  Approaching the turn into the front straight, GRU was tightened for racing room and lost ground.  SPUR ON shifted out and raced wide in the front straight.

 

At the conclusion of RACE 3, stewards’ questioned trainer representative Ms Kellie Olsen in respect to the improved performance of the greyhound FARMOR EFFECTED. Ms Olsen stated that the greyhound had trialled well earlier in the week, although she was still surprised by its showing tonight. She further stated that she had not supported  the greyhound in the event and was not aware of any other connections supporting the greyhound either.

KAYPAT LODGE NOVICE – 520M

BELLA CETTE was best to begin, SPEEDY MARINA was slow.  At the 1st turn, FIVE GALLON HAT shifted in and impeded SIN CITY KITTY, which lost ground as a result.  In the front straight, on the 1st occasion, SPEEDY MARINA was impeded, causing it to stumble and lose ground.  SIN CITY KITTY raced wide in the front straight.

 

The greyhound SPEEDY MARINA underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the off side hock and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

SECRETIVE INTENT was best to begin.  At the 1st turn, FARMOR AT LAST was tightened for racing room causing it to collide with VOLKEY, resulting in both greyhounds to lose considerable ground as a result.  BONKNOCKA LASS, which was trailing, was impeded and lost momentum.  Approaching the top turn, SURF BOARD was tightened for racing room, checked off heels and lost ground as a consequence.  Approaching the turn into the front straight, SHADOWLAND and VOLKEY checked, causing SHADOWLAND to become severely unbalanced and lose significant ground as a consequence. 

 

The greyhound SHADOWLAND underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained a near side hip strain and was stood down for a period of 10 days.

GREG STERNBERG VET SURGEON 5TH GRADE (2) – 431M

ODESSA was best to begin, NEXT was marginally slow.  In the 1st turn, FARMOR IN TUNE shifted in causing NEXT and SPRING BENNY to be tightened for racing room, with NEXT coming in contact with the running rail as a consequence.  Shortly after, the entire field apart from ODESSA and ALLPA MAMA, raced tight and checked with all losing ground to varying degrees.  Shortly after, SPRING BENNY checked off heels and lost ground.  JUST LIKE YAZZA, which was trailing, was impeded and checked losing ground as a consequence.  Approaching the top turn, NEXT was tightened for racing room and lost ground.  Shortly after, JUST LIKE YAZZA was tightened for racing room and lost ground.

 

The greyhound NEXT underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

 

The greyhound SPRING BENNY underwent a post race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

HOOP DREAMS, SAIL SURFER and SHAKEY RANDLE were all best to begin.  In the 1st turn, NEVER A DOUBT and ENJOY THE SHOW were tightened for racing room, causing ENJOY THE SHOW to shift out and collide into SHAKEY RANDLE, causing both greyhounds to lose ground as a result.  Leaving the 1st turn, NEVER A DOUBT checked off heels and lost ground.  ENJOY THE SHOW, which was trailing, collided heavily into NEVER A DOUBT, causing both greyhounds to lose significant ground as a consequence.  Leaving the turn out of the back straight, SAIL SURFER was tightened for racing room and lost ground.  ENJOY THE SHOW and SHAKEY RANDLE raced tight leaving the turn into the front straight. 

 

The greyhound HOOP DREAMS underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and no apparent injuries were found.

SKY RACING MIXED 4/5 – 520M

RATHNAIT and FRIENDZ were both best to begin.  APOLLO’S WARRIOR and MR. RALPH were both marginally slow.  In the 1st turn, WINGMAN HUTCH improved onto the rear of RATHNAIT, causing that greyhound to fall. IZY MAGIC, APOLLO’S WARRIOR, WONDERLAND and MR. RALPH, which were trailing, collided into WINGMAN HUTCH causing all greyhounds to lose ground to varying degrees.

 

The greyhound RATHNAIT underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have sustained an injury to the off side hind leg and was stood down for a period of 21 days.

WILLY TOULA was best to begin, ALFONSO was slow.  In the 1st turn, PARIS QUEEN and MALUTKI raced tight, causing MALUTKI to shift out and check into GOOD GOLLY OLLY, which in turn checked into TEN GALLON HAT and SASSY OAKS, causing TEN GALLON HAT and SASSY OAKS to lose considerable ground as a consequence.  Shortly after, LILLY PILLY LASS checked off heels and lost ground.  TEN GALLON HAT, which was trailing, checked into LILLY PILLY LASS, causing both greyhounds to lose considerable ground as a result.  Approaching the turn into the front straight, PARIS QUEEN bumped into GOOD GOLLY OLLY, which then shifted out and collided into LILLY PILLY LASS, causing both greyhounds to become unbalanced and lose ground.  ALFONSO finished a considerable distance behind the remainder of the field.

 

The greyhound ALFONSO underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have an injury to the off hind thigh and was stood down for a period of 14 days.

BARNEY BE GOOD was best to begin, SPRING SHELLEY was marginally slow.  Approaching the 1st turn, RISING SON was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  Shortly after, MOCHACHINI MAN was tightened for racing room, checked and lost ground.  WAIKARIE SHAZ and SPRING SHELLEY, which were trailing, were impeded and lost momentum.  Leaving the top turn, SPUDTASTIC improved onto the heels of NAUGHTY JESS resulting in NAUGHTY JESS to yield ground and shift out then check into FABTHOR, causing both greyhounds to lose ground as a result.  Approaching the turn into the front straight, SPRING SHELLEY deviated towards FABTHOR while turning its head and making muzzle contact.  In the front straight, SPRING SHELLEY deviated towards FABTHOR on 2 separate occasions making muzzle contact each time.  NAUGHTY JESS, which was trailing, was impeded and checked just prior to the finish.

 

Stewards’ advised trainer, Mr P Shaxson, the greyhound SPRING SHELLEY would be charged under Rule 69 Marring 1st Offence, 28 days, and greyhound must perform a satisfactory stewards’ trial, 288m all tracks.
