GENERAL

As Jockey J. Hodge was indisposed due to injury, rider replacements were made as per Stewards Race Day Summary.

Due to technical issues with the weigh-in scales and a new set having to be sourced, all races were put back one race with times as stated below:-

Race 1 – 10.50am
Race 2 – 11.20am
Race 3 – 11.55am
Race 4 – 12.30pm
Race 5 – 1.05pm
Race 6 – 1.40pm
Race 7 – 2.20pm
Race 8 – 3.00pm
Race 9 – 3.40pm

Race 11 – 5.02pm then changed to 4.55pm


Race 1: TAB Maiden Handicap - 1650m

Acting on veterinary advice, STAREMM was a late scratching at 9.20am.Trainer B. Laming was advised that he must obtain a veterinary clearance before the fillys next race start.

MAN OF SINN - Began awkwardly.

KOHIKO – Began awkwardly, shifting out bumping OUR CLARISSA. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.

OUR CLARISSA - Bumped by another runner which shifted out on jumping.

STARRY BEAUTY - Slow to begin.

PURPLE GEM – Whilst racing wide in the early and middle stages, raced greenly until improving forward to race outside the leader near the 800m.

RUFFIN IT – Raced wide in the early stages.

AUNTY SNOW - Raced wide in the early stages.

VITTORINA – Raced wide in the early stages. Held up rounding the home turn.

ROSIE ROSE - Inconvenienced near the 700m when tightened for room by a runner which shifted out while over-racing.

MISFITS – Over-raced in the middle stages and shifted out near the 700m inconveniencing ROSIE ROSE.

LAZARO – Raced wide for the majority of the race.


Race 2: AQUIS Maiden Handicap – 1650m

NO HARM DONE – After beginning awkwardly, was then bumped heavily by SHIZURU which shifted in on jumping causing that runner to shift in making contact with LUNAFREYA which in turn shifted in hampering horses to its inside. The saddle shifted forward approaching the 900m placing rider App. M. Shimodaira at a distinct disadvantage for the remainder of the race.

SHIZURU – Shifted in on jumping hampering horses to its inside.

LUNAFREYA – Bumped on jumping and shifted inwards hampering runners to its inside.

MCPHERSONS IMAGE – Bumped on jumping by a runner which shifted inwards and as a result lost ground. Raced fiercely in the early stages on the turnout of the straight on the first occasion and shifted out hampering DONT LOOK NOW and BELLICE which were forced wider.

DONT LOOK NOW – Forced wider by another runner which was racing fiercely rounding the home turn on the first occasion.

BELLICE – Forced wider by another runner which was racing fiercely rounding the home turn on the first occasion.

App. N. Fazackerley (BELLICE) was reprimanded in that he failed to claim down to his declared riding weight and was advised to address this matter with urgency.

Race 3: TAB Benchmark 55 Handicap – 1650m

CONCAVE - Began awkwardly. Commenced to shift in under pressure over the final 100m before being corrected approaching the winning post, however, continued to shift in despite the efforts of its rider, tightening the running of IM KATE which clipped that runners heels and blundered. Whilst stewards noted the racing manners of CONCAVE Jockey M. Cahill was nonetheless reprimanded and advised to show greater care to prevent his horse from shifting in.

POLE VOLTER - Raced wide in the early and middle stages until improving forward leaving the 800m to obtain a position closer to the rail.

GAME SET MATCH - Had to be restrained and shifted wider passing the winning post on the first occasion when crowded for room by RED AND GOLD (A. Chau) which shifted in and as a result raced 3 wide for the remainder of the race. Rider A. Chau was severely reprimanded and advised to make a greater effort in similar circumstances.

RED AND GOLD - Shifted in passing the winning post on the first occasion tightening the running of NO HARM DONE.

IM KATE – Passing the winning post, clipped the heels of a runner which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider and blundered.

Race 4: AQUIS Maiden Plate – 1200m

The start was delayed when SCANTILY CLAD refused to be loaded into the barriers. SCANTILY CLAD was declared a late scratching at 12.32pm. All monies invested on SCANTILY CLAD were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and place-getters prior to 12.32pm:-

0 cents in the dollar for the Win # 12
0 cents in the dollar for the place of winner # 12
2 cents in the dollar for the 2nd place # 4
4 cents in the dollar for the 3rd place # 3

Trainer G. Cornish was advised that the mare must perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial before starting again.

MISS MARGS - Slow to begin.

DE NOVA STELLA – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

ARATULA – Commenced to over-race leaving the 1000m and near the 900m clipped the heels of DAUNTING TASK which shifted in slightly when racing greenly. ARATULA then shifted in hampering HARRYUP which was racing to its inside. Shifted out near the 150m bumping ATOMIC BOMB which shifted in.

DAUNTING TASK - When racing greenly, shifted in slightly near the 900m inconveniencing ARATULA which was over-racing.

ARCADIAN SHORES – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

HARRYUP – Hampered near the 900m by another runner which shifted in.

Race 5: TAB Maiden Plate – 1200m

THE GOOD THE BAD – Slow to begin.

MAHOE GOLD – Shifted in on jumping, bumping a runner to its inside.

AMBIGUOUS – Bumped by MAHOE GOLD which shifted in on jumping.

BOOM BABY – Over-raced in the early stages having to be steadied from heels near the 1000m. Raced in restricted room near the 400m. Shifted out near the 50m becoming awkwardly placed on heels and having to be steadied.

LITTLE NATURAL – Shifted in under pressure leaving the 100m hampering HICKSON.

HICKSON – Crowded for room leaving the 100m.

BOOMTOWN BABE – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the race.

MIRACLE – Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority of the race.

Race 6: AQUIS QTIS 3YO Benchmark 62 Handicap – 1400m

LOTS WIFE – Jumped outwards at the start bumping a runner to its outside. Shifted in under pressure leaving the 100m crowding THE DARK which was momentarily steadied.

SARAVENGER – Slow to begin.

THE DARK – Momentarily steadied leaving the 100m when crowded for room.

ALIGNMENT - Bumped by LOTS WIFE which shifted out at the start, and lost ground.

Race 7: TAB QTIS 3YO Benchmark 65 Handicap – 1100m

The start was delayed when FAIR FELLA dislodged its rider behind the barriers. After cantering a short distance the gelding was recaptured and subsequently underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Jockey J. Taylor declared himself free of injury and able to fulfil his riding engagement.

JE SUIS BELLE – Jumped inwards at the start tightening runners to its inside.

SPINNING SPIRIT – Tightened for room on jumping and shifted in bumping the runner to its inside.

FAIR FELLA – Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start and became unbalanced. When questioned regarding the early tactics adopted on FAIR FELLA, rider J. Taylor stated that the gelding raced in the lead which is its normal racing pattern, however, passing the 900m when pressured by JE SUIS BELLE, commenced to over-race and refused to settle. He further added that a combination of the gelding being stirred up behind the barriers and over-racing, and being of the opinion that the gelding may not run out a strong 1100m, all contributed to its performance today.

BEATSME – When questioned regarding the early tactics adopted on the gelding which raced 3 wide for the majority of the race, Jockey R. Fradd stated that after being urged to go forward early from its wide barrier, the horse refused to settle and he was unable to bring the gelding back and as a result was obliged to race 3 wide. His explanation was noted.

Race 8: AQUIS F&M Benchmark 55 Handicap – 1200m

KATARINA – Slow to begin.

ETHANOL GIRL - Slow to begin.

SOLO ARTIST – Slow to begin.

HANNAHS SONG - Made the home turn awkwardly.

IN HER ZONE – Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the race.

WEARETENFORTYEIGHT - Raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 9: TAB C,G&E Benchmark 55 Handicap – 1200m

DOMINANT WITNESS – Slow to begin.

STARCASTER – Slow to begin.

STAY SMART – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

IAMPAIDFOR – Momentarily held up rounding the home turn and shifted out bumping HEART VANDELAY.

HEART VANDELAY – Bumped by IAMPAIDFOR which shifted out rounding the home turn to obtain clear running. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

CLANG AGAIN – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

ORSETTO – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

A post-race veterinary examination revealed STAY SMART to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Under the provisions of AR79(4), the gelding will incur a mandatory three month ban from racing and must perform to the satisfaction of Stewards in a 1000m gallop prior to racing again.

A post-race veterinary examination revealed GET ME CHARLIE to have bled during the event. As this is the second occasion on which the gelding has bled, it will incur a lifetime ban from racing under the provisions of AR79(6).

Race 10: AQUIS Benchmark 60 Handicap – 1400m

ENDLESS RIVER – Connections advised that it would be their intention to ride the gelding in the second half of the field. Ridden accordingly. Held up for clear running and unable to improve from leaving the 500m until the 200m.

THE IRONS – Shifted in approaching the 1000m crowding the running of TAINTED AFFAIR which was momentarily steadied. Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the race.

QUALIFY – Held up for clear running and unable to improve from the 500m until entering the home straight.

THE GOLDEN BEAR – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

IVYS DREAM – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

BUFFALO GIRL – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 11: TAB Benchmark 60 Handicap – 1400m

The start was delayed when SUCH A DRAMA QUEEN dislodged its rider en-route to the barriers. After cantering for some distance, the mare was recaptured and subsequently underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Jockey S. Bogenhuber declared herself free of injury and able to fulfil her riding engagement.

SPIRIT OF EDYN – Slow to begin. Raced wide from the 800m until entering the home straight.

SIR BAM – When racing wide near the 800m, was hampered by GENOA which shifted out abruptly and was steadied. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

GENOA – Raced ungenerously throughout the race and shifted out abruptly near the 800m hampering another runner. Connections advised that they may experiment with a gear change prior to the horses next start.
