On Friday December 6th Trainer J Bawden sought Stewards approval not to float ENCORONADA which was 2nd emergency from his Mt Isa base to Charters Towers (approximately 800km) without being assured of obtaining a place in the starting field. In acceding to Mr Bawden’s request Stewards took into consideration that in order to attend the race meeting Mr Bawden was required to leave Mt Isa well before scratching deadline, the distance involved and existing weather conditions. ENCORONADA was scratched by order of Stewards at 1230pm.
NAUGHTY CORNER- After being crossed by runners from the outside near the 1000m the gelding began to receive heavy kickback and commenced to race ungenerously.

NO HAT NO PLAY- Raced wide during the early stages. Jockey N Nelson pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(a) in that passing the 500m she did permit her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of NICCONI PASQUALE (R Hancock) causing that runner to check and lose ground. Jockey Nelsons license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 7th December 2019 up to and including 15th December 2019. In considering penalty Stewards took into account the degree of interference, which was considered to be in the low range, Jockey Nelsons guilty plea and her good record in relation to the rule.
