CLASSIC MAGIC – Upon returning to scale Apprentice A. Thompson reported that he dropped his whip rounding the home turn.

I’M A REBEL – Began awkwardly making contact with another runner to the outside. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, Jockey C. Bryen reported that throughout the event the gelding was inclined to hang out and may have not handled the surface of today’s event. Trainer M. Johnstone could offer no explanation for the horses disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

GYPSIES MISCHIEF – Tightened for room at the start.

WRITTEN GUARANTEE – Began awkwardly making contact with another runner to the inside. Raced wide without cover throughout.

THIRD ROCK – Shifted out rounding the home turn and raced wide without cover for the remainder of the event. Apprentice Tomlinson was fined $100 under AR.137A(5)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip more than five occasions prior to the 100m.

RACE 2: PETER MOODY BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP – 1400m

Stewards inquired into the reasons as to why Jockey C. Bryen failed to weigh out with irons attached to his saddle causing his mount to be re-saddled. After taking evidence from the relevant parties, Stewards fined Jockey Bryen $200 under AR.175(k) in that his negligent actions led to a breach of AR.118(b)(iii)

RACE 4:

The declaration of correct weight was delayed when the connections of the fourth place getter EXSTRATUM lodged a protest against the second place getter FOUR IRON, alleging interference within the last 100m. After viewing the available patrol footage and taking evidence from all parties, Stewards were not satisfied that the shift inwards from FOUR IRON and the interference caused by such shift exceeded the two and a half-length margin between the runners. Taking this into consideration, Stewards dismissed the protest and declared correct weight.

EXSTRATUM – Placed in restricted room at the 100m.

TYRANNY – Began awkwardly.

TIMETUS – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure at the 100m placing EXSTRATUM in restricted room. Apprentice S. Tomlinson was advised to exercise more care.

ONEHUNDREDCLICKS – Fractious in barriers. Raced wide over the concluding stages.

PARANA – Slow to begin. Slow into stride taking no competitive part in the event. Upon returning to scale Jockey J. King reported that in addition to beginning poorly, the gelding resented the kick back it received throughout. Trainer R. Frazer expressed disappointment with the horses performance adding that in his opinion the conditions of the track surface and the step up in class could have led to today disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

CLASSIC WIND – Raced wide over the concluding stages.

MISS DELIMA – Raced wide over the concluding stages.

RACE 5: DICK LEEDS MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP – 800m
