As jockey S. Sheargold was not riding at today’s meeting he was replaced as per Stewards raceday summary.

Race 1: Carlton Mid QTIS 2yo & 3yo Maiden H’cap – 1250m

RED NUSKEE – Slow to begin.

TURF GLORY – Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. Rider M. Kai advised Stewards he was of the opinion the gelding having its first race clockwise way of going was not entirely comfortable and had a tendency to lay out for the majority of the race.

KENSINGTON FURY – Raced greenly in the early stages and shifted out near the 1100m hampering another runner.

KEGSY – Hampered near the 1100m by another runner, which was racing greenly. Raced wide in the early stages of the race.

RESADOWSKA – Shifted wider on the track rounding the home turn.

MICK’S DREAM – Laid in for a short distance soon after entering the home straight.

AMERICAN GENERAL – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 2: Villa Romana QTIS 2yo & 3yo Maiden H’cap – 1250m

SHUNTER – Slow to begin. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

ARMS RACE – Slow to begin.

MISPRINT – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the race. Rider B. Swaffer pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137A (5)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip in an excessive manner prior to the 100m.B. Swaffer’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight 17/07/2018 and to expire midnight 24/07/2018. In considering penalty, Stewards took into account his recent poor record under this rule.

MISS CELITA – Raced greenly when tiring in the home straight

Race 3: Black Ivy Boutique Class 2 Plate – 950m

ALASKAN GOLD – Delayed the start after removing its tongue-tie. As the tongue-tie was unable to be re-fitted permission was granted for the horse to race without that piece of gear. Raced wide for the majority of the race. Restrained out of the race in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer Ms D. Massingham, was advised she must provide a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to the horse being permitted to race again.

OUT OF THE BLUE – Slow to begin. Shifted in near the 500m bumping another runner. Shifted out under pressure near the 200m inconveniencing another runner. Rider K. Stone was severely reprimanded and advised to make a greater effort to keep his mount straight in similar circumstances.

NORTHERN REVENGE – Slow to begin. Inconvenienced near the 200m by another runner.

LITTLE STRYKER – Began awkwardly. Bumped near the 500m by another runner.

ONE FOR THE TON – Raced in restricted room near the 450m and was restrained.

FLASH HERO – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

PENNY GAMBLER – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

MY FRIEND ROB – Raced wide for the majority of the race.



Race 4: Telesat Services H’cap – 1400m

ONE FOR THE MONEY – Passing the 1000m, was inconvenienced when forced wider having to be steadied from the heels COUTAINVILLE (M. Abe) which shifted in slightly. Approaching the 900m was checked when tightened for room by COUTAINVILLE, which shifted in. Rider M. Abe (COUTAINVILLE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that near the 900m he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in causing ONE FOR THE MONEY to be checked and forced inwards tightening GOLD CUFLINKS (N. DAY) and GREAT PRETENDER (S. Wiseman) which were racing to its inside. M. Abe’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days commence midnight 21/07/2018 and expire midnight 30/07/2018. Raced wide from 1000m.

GREAT PRETENDER – Made the 1000m turn awkwardly and shifted out inconveniencing another runner. Tightened for room near the 900m and was restrained.

GOLD CUFLINKS – Made the 1000m turn awkwardly and shifted out inconveniencing another runner. Tightened for room near the 900m and was restrained.

Race 5: Airfirst Magic Millions/FNQ Up & Coming Stayers BM70 H’cap – 2100m

BARWON – Shifted out shortly after the start bumping another runner.

ROYAL SUPREME – Bumped shortly after the start. Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the race.

FRISKIER – Slow to begin.

WE JUST LOVE IT – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

BEACH HEAD – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer Ms S. D’Avila, was advised she must provide a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to the horse being permitted to race again.

Race 6: F J Wieland Racing BM70 H’cap – 1250m

FLYING ONE MORE – Delayed the start when it broke through the front of the barriers and then shortly after barging through the inside plastic running rail. All horses were removed from the barriers whilst the running rail was repaired and following a veterinary examination, the gelding was cleared to start. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
CRIMSON HALO – Slow to begin. Shifted under pressure leaving the 150m.

ROCK SPUR – When asked to explain the poor performance rider P. Cullen was at loss to explain the performance other than the gelding raced flat and was disappointing. Trainer S. Molino advised Stewards she would now give consideration to the gelding being sent for a spell.

CENTRO SUPERIOR – Over-raced in the early stages of the race. Restrained from heels near the 400m. Checked approaching the 100m when tightened for room.

SNOWY MOET – Rider S. Kaya pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that approaching the 100m he permitted his mount to shift in under hard riding resulting in CENTRO SUPERIOR (W. D’Avila) having to be checked and shift inwards making contact with PHANTOM SOX (M. Abe) which had to steadied. S. Kaya’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days commence midnight 17/07/2018 and expire midnight 27/07/2018.

PHANTOM SOX – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

DECODED – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

JIMMY HOFFA – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

Race 7: Farmalogic Equine Vit & Min Class 2 H’cap – 1250m

MY BOY ALEX – Began awkwardly, shifted out shortly after the start bumping another runner.

METAZOA – Bumped shortly after the start and steadied. Raced wide for the majority of the race.

SOUND INVESTEMENT – Began awkwardly and was then tightened for room shortly after the start.

AHERN – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

HUNTER CAULFIELD – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
