Race 5:  Benchmark 60 H’cap – 1470m

LUVYA BEAK – Following this meeting, Stewards questioned trainer J. Kilroy in regards to the mare’s disappointing performance. Mr Kilroy was at loss to explain the performance other than the horse may not have appreciated the firm surface of the day’s track. He further stated that rider M. Hart reported that after being crowded for room near the 700m the mare lost interest and failed to respond to his riding and as such he did not place the horse under pressure over the concluding stages.

Mr Kilroy subsequently advised Stewards the mare had pleased him since returning to his stables and its work has been satisfactory and whilst monitoring the horse going forward will continue with its current preparation.
