GENERAL
 
Jockey J. Morris will be interviewed at a later date regarding the circumstances of his failure to fulfil his riding engagements in Races 3 and 5.
 
Race 1: Sky Racing QTIS 2YO Handicap – 1200m
 
BARD OF ARMAGH – Restless in the barriers, jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
 
ANIMAL SPIRITS – Began awkwardly. Brushed the rail near the 900m. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
FULLAZABOOT – Began awkwardly. Inclined to overrace in the early stages when being restrained. Near the 700m again had to steady off heels and shifted wider.
 
DE LADY DELUXE – Shifted out on jumping. Raced greenly in the early stages. Raced wide without cover. A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have been galloped on the near hind leg.
 
KING OF THE NORTH – Brushed the running rail near the 900m, became unbalanced and lost ground.
 
DESERT KNIGHT – Inconvenienced near the 900m and had to be steadied. Inclined to hang out approaching the 600m.
 
GRIM REAPER – Approaching the 800m had to be steadied away from heels. Near the 600m had to be steadied away from heels.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Soft 5 retrospective.
 
 
Race 2: WWW.BRC.COM.AU Ratings Band 0-70 Handicap – 1350m
 
NIGHT ATTIRE – Near the 1000m when steadying had a tendency to overrace for a short distance. Lost a near fore plate in running.
 
MEHMETO – Held up rounding the home turn. Passing the 300m shifted back in to obtain clear running. Near the 200m was disappointed for a run and had to be steadied.
 
CONTRALTO – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
PEGAPUS – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.
 
CHARIOT OF GOLD – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 3: No Cracks Plumbing QTIS 3YO Handicap – 1600m
 
As J. Morris was overweight stewards permitted L. Tarrant to be substituted as the rider of HOLBROOK.
 
MISS MIAO – Pulled hard in the early and middle stages and raced wide. Cast a near fore plate in running.
 
MAGNUFIGHTER – Pulled hard in the early and middle stages and had to be restrained off heels near the 800m. Jockey L. Cassidy (MISS MIAO) was severely reprimanded for this incident.Bumped near the 300m. Jockey D. Browne reported at scale it was not his intention to take up a leading position in the early stages but added that he was unable to restrain the colt.
 
BOOM BOOM EPIC – After leaving the 1200m shifted in and away from another runner. Near the 300m shifted in and bumped another runner.
 
ZOFONIC DANCER – After leaving the 1200m had to be checked away from heels. Held up in the early stages of the straight.
 
LUCKY CAPTAIN – Had to be checked off heels near the 1200m.
 
ARTERIAL – Near the 500m shifted out abruptly to avoid the heels of a tiring runner forcing runners to its outside wider.
 
HOLBROOK – Bumped and hampered near the 500m.
 
NASHVILLE SKYLINE – Checked away from heels near the 500m.
 
MERLIN THE WIZARD – Stewards questioned jockey C. Lindop regarding her riding in the early stages. Jockey Lindop stated she had been instructed to race handy if possible. She added that the gelding had not begun well and after hard riding was unable to clear runners to her inside, particularly MISS MIAO which was pulling hard and she elected to continue to ride forward to obtain a position closer to the lead. She further stated after passing the 1000m she attempted to restrain MERLIN THE WIZARD to take up a position behind MISS MIAO but was prevented from doing so by BOOM BOOM EPIC, which improved to her inside. She further added that the amount of work the gelding had done in the early and middle stages had been a major contributor to it weakening in the home straight.
 
 
Race 4: Happy Birthday Monster Ubet Origin Jockey Series Class 2 Plate – 1600m
 
SHADOW VISION – Shortly after the start shifted out and hampered runners to its outside.
 
EXPERTEA – Hampered shortly after the start. Raced wide in the early stages without cover. Taken in near the 100m.
 
REALING – Hampered shortly after the start. Inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.
 
SHARP SPEEDO – Approaching the 1000m improved to the inside of SHADOW VISION, which resulted in SHADOW VISION racing wide from the 800m. Taken in after leaving the 100m by a runner to its outside.
 
SCARLETT HUSSIE – Passing the 800m had to be steadied when briefly tightened for room. Jockey D. Browne advised his mount was reluctant to race inside other runners and near the 800m lost ground when briefly tightened for room and again near the 600m.
 
LOCUS – Inside the 100m had to stop riding when tightened for room.
 
ALCAZAR – Improved into a narrow run passing the 100m and was briefly tightened for room.
 
 
Race 5: Monier Top Cat In Roofing NMW Handicap – 1200m
 
As J. Morris was overweight stewards permitted L. Tarrant to be substituted as the rider of WACK EM.
 
CASINO THOUGHTS – Held up rounding the home turn, shifted out and then shifted back in near the 300m and then was held up for clear running until approaching the 100m.
 
DAPPER ONE – Near the 300m had to check away from heels.
 
HIGH COST – Unable to obtain clear running in the straight and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
ZENDAYE – Jockey J. Orman accidentally dropped his whip near the 200m.
 
FRENCH HUSSLER – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
LIMERICK MOON – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
CALKE ABBEY – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 6: Multi Systems Electrical Ubet Origin Jockey Series Class 6 Plate – 2000m
 
After initially being declared as the rider of ANTIGONE early this morning it was established that jockey J. Kah was unable to ride at the declared weight and was subsequently replaced by L. Tarrant.
 
MONASTERIO – Trainer advised the horse would be ridden more forward today from its inside barrier. The horse races midfield. After leaving the 400m shifted out to obtain clear running making contact with another runner. Trainers representative P. Shailer reported that the gelding was showing signs of slight lameness to the off fore leg with blood coming from the hoof.
 
KIRINI – Trainer advised the horse would be ridden more forward today from its wide barrier. The horse was ridden in a handy position behind the leaders.
 
SHEZA LILY – Shifted out abruptly near the 1600m when being steadied off heels. Passing the 1200m again had to steady off heels.
 
EXPLOSIVE ONE – After leaving the 1600m had to be severely checked to avoid heels and then raced wide throughout.
 
KARAKABEEL – After leaving the 1600m overraced for a short distance. Held up after leaving the 500m.
 
MADAME DE BAN –.Hampered after leaving the 1600m when racing wide. Continued to race wide until near the 1000m. Taken wider by a runner to its inside after leaving the 400m
 
ANTIGONE – Near the 300m had to alter course to obtain clear running.
 
THREE POINTS – Near the 250m had to steady away from heels.
 
COURTS STAR – Approaching the winning post shifted out and had to be steadied away from heels.
 
SINGING – After passing the winning post brushed the running rail and became unbalanced.
 
ZAMEX – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying a short striding action in both fore legs.
 
 
Race 7: AQWA Constructions Just Now Quality (Listed) – 1350m
 
DENMAGIC – Raced in restricted room between runners after leaving the 700m. Bumped at the entrance to the straight.
 
ZUMBELINA – Forced wider after leaving the 700m.
 
NOTONYOURLIFE – Rounding the turn shifted out and made contact with another runner. Near the 300m had to be steadied when tightened for room.
 
PUSH THE SKY AWAY – At the entrance to the straight when tiring had to be steadied away from heels. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
Jockey J. Byrne (OUR BEEBEE) was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift out making the home turn, resulting in BETTABET RED being taken out and PUSH THE SKY AWAY having to be steadied away from heels.
 
Trainer C. Waller was fined $100 for presenting ZUMBELINA without pacifiers.
 
 
Race 8: Green Options Racings Pty Ltd Brisbane Handicap (Listed) – 1600m
 
SIR MOMENTS – Trainer advised that the horse would be ridden back in the field today from the wide barrier.  The horse settled at the rear of the field and pulled hard in the early stages. Continued to overrace in the middle stages.
 
CANTBUYBETTER – Jumped awkwardly, shifted out hampering runners to its outside.
 
CRACK ME UP – Hampered at the start. Pulled hard when the pace steadied in the middle stages. Restrained off heels at the 800m.
 
RUDY – Hampered at the start. Pulled hard when the pace steadied in the middle stages.
 
SAN TELMO – Hampered at the start. Near the 800m had to be restrained off heels.
 
KAISER FRANZ – Pulled hard in the early stages.
 
BODEGA NEGRA – Pulled hard when the pace steadied in the middle stages.
 
URBAN KNIGHT – Pulled hard when the pace steadied in the middle stages.
 
TOO GOOD TO REFUSE – Held up rounding the home turn. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be short striding in the near fore leg.
 
FRESPANOL – Raced wide throughout.
 
FRIENDLY DRAGON – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 9: Become A Member At  BRC No More Than One Metro Win This Year Handicap – 1350m
 
FELTRE – Slow to begin.
 
DELIGHTFUL FEELING – Pulled hard in the early stages.
 
SOMEDAY – Near the 300m had to be steadied away from heels.
 
LUCKY TOM – Near the 200m had to steady away from heels and alter course.
 
MARKSFIELD – App R. Ride reported that whilst her intention was to be slightly forward in running the gelding commenced to pull hard after passing the 1200m and she was unable to restrain.
