Race 1: WWW.BRC.COM.AU MAIDEN H'CAP – 1650M
 
As horses were leaving the enclosure MADAM MAHAL became fractious, shifted back and made contact with the running rail and then struck L. Dittman in the head. Jockey Dittman was ruled out by Club doctor and the horse was declared a late scratching at 12:40 pm. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on MADAM MAHAL be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 12:40 pm:
 
13 cents in the dollar for the win #7
12 cents in the dollar for place of winner #7
14 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #5
14 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #4
 
Following the event L. Dittman was again examined by the Club doctor and cleared to resume race riding.
 
ELIOT – Jumped awkwardly.
 
INDIAN ROCKS – Had to be steadied away from heels near the 900m. J. Lloyd reported at scale that his mount jumped awkwardly and then knuckled and got further back in the field than he intended.
 
POLE VOLTER – Shifted out and bumped another runner on jumping. Had to shift out to avoid heels after leaving the 1400m.
 
GRAND WHISPER – Became loose in the enclosure, trotted back to the horse stall area and was recaptured and took its place in the field. Forced wider on the home turn.
 
PIXIE HOLLOW – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden in a more forward position if circumstances permit. The horse led and won.
 
CALDERA GIRL – Pulled hard in the middle stages.
 
PABULUM – Bumped on jumping. Shifted in abruptly after leaving the 1400m and had to be steadied by its rider. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a small laceration to the off hind leg.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to GOOD 3 retrospective.
 
Race 2: HAMILTON HOTEL QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1350M
 
CIDER APPLE – Shifted out near the 700m, taking another runner wider.
 
KURUMBA – Raced in restricted room approaching the 600m.
 
LI’L RODGE – Forced wider near the 700m. M. McGillivray reported that his mount wanted to lay in under pressure in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the nearside mouth.
 
ANOTHER DOLLAR – Reared at the start, became unbalanced and lost significant ground. Momentarily held up approaching the home turn.
 
GOTHIC ROMANCE – Steadied off heels at the 700m.
 
Race 3: GALLOPERS SPORTS CLUB MAIDEN H'CAP – 1200M
 
CASH IS BLACK – Proved difficult to load, shifted out on jumping and made contact with another runner. Held up for clear running near the 500m.
 
CHASIN – Jumped awkwardly.
 
TERRORFILO – Bumped on jumping.
 
Race 4: ASCOT GREEN BENCHMARK 80 H'CAP – 1200M
 
RARE OCCURRENCE – Had to steady when tightened for room inside the 200m.
 
BEAUDRAGON – Shifted out under pressure approaching the 200m.
 
MAGNAJOY – Raced wide without cover.
 
Race 5: GIRLS DAY OUT RACEDAY BENCHMARK 65 H'CAP – 1050M
 
GOOD TO BE GREAT – A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had partially dislodged the off fore plate.
 
PRIMED FOR DESTINY – Had to be steadied when disappointed for a run near the 300m.
 
HOPETOUN STREET – Raced wide until obtaining cover near the 700m.
 
PERDU – Slow to begin.
 
BELLA OCCHI – J. Lloyd reported at scale that whilst his intentions were to lead, he was unable to comply with instructions when horses to his inside held their positions and as a result his mount was forced to race wide without cover.
 
BASARA – Had to be briefly steadied approaching the 900m.
 
NOOR DROPPER – Held up approaching the home turn. Taken out after leaving the 300m and had to steady away from heels.
 
SHEZ A ROCKIN’TOFF – R. Fradd reported that his mount may have got its tongue over the bit during the running of the race, which may explain its disappointing performance. He added that he had recommended to connections that the horse may benefit from a change of bit. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
Race 6: RELAXED RACING CLASS 4 H'CAP – 1650M
 
DUKE OF CHRISTOPHE – Held up after leaving the 300m.
 
MY KIND – S. Doyle was questioned as to his riding of MY KIND in the early and middle stages. He stated that it was not his intention to take on the leader. He added that approaching the 1400m he attempted to find cover behind DEVASTATING RHYTHM, however the gelding was unable to be restrained and as a result he allowed MY KIND to stride forward and race outside KUBIS near the 1200m. He added that at its previous start at the Gold Coast the gelding “bolted” with him and he was unable to restrain MY KIND. He added connections had anticipated that, with the advertised gear change of the addition of a Norton bit and a drop back in distance, he would be able to restrain the gelding to take up a position behind the leaders, however the horse’s racing manners prevented this. Trainer B. Baldwin confirmed that at the gelding’s previous start it had raced very fiercely and he had expected today, with the same rider and the addition of the Norton bit, that the horse would be able to be restrained. He added that he will speak to connections about the immediate racing future of the horse.
 
WHO’S YOUR DADDY – Very slow to begin (3 lengths). Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding.
 
CONTRALTO – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 7: WEDDINGS AT BRC CLASS 2 PLATE – 1200M
 
DEEP IMAGE – T. Brooker was questioned regarding her riding of the gelding in the early stages. She stated that she was under no specific instructions other than to make sure that DEEP IMAGE was comfortable in its action and endeavour to take up a position with cover one off the rail. She added that she was unable to comply and raced wide without cover. She added that DEEP IMAGE would take a fitness benefit from today’s race.
 
GUISSOLA – Checked when taken on to the hind quarters of the runner to the inside shortly after the start. Raced in restricted room near the 1000m and had to be steadied when INSPIRED ESTELLE shifted out.
 
MR BELLAGIO – Shifted in and bumped another runner on jumping.
 
NOTHINGFORTHEPRESS – Bumped on jumping, then shifted in abruptly, making heavy contact with the runner to the inside. Raced in restricted room near the 1000m and had to be steadied when INSPIRED ESTELLE shifted out.
 
CLIODHNA – Brushed the running rail past the winning post and became unbalanced.
 
INSPIRED ESTELLE – Slow to begin.
 
OUR JAMAICA – Bumped on the hind quarters shortly after the start. Raced fiercely and was difficult to restrain in the early stages and as a result led by a considerable margin. Brushed the running rail passing the winning post.
 
DAZZY’S DAY – Jumped awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the runner to the inside.
 
ARROGANT BOY – Bumped on jumping.
 
Race 8: SKY THOROUGHBRED CENTRAL CLASS 3 H'CAP – 1350M
 
CHIEF JOSEPH – Jumped awkwardly and made contact with the runner to the inside.
 
LOCUS – Shifted in near the 1300m and bumped another runner.
 
TWO SHOES – M. Cahill reported at scale that in his opinion the mare did not appreciate the firm surface today.
 
FUTURE EVENT – Late scratching at 4:03 pm when the horse was unable to arrive on course due to transport difficulties.
 
MAYBE EVEN YOU – Blundered on jumping, almost dislodging its rider.
 
ABERLADY – Bumped near the 1300m. L. Tarrant reported at scale that he did not test the mare over the final 200m as he felt there was something amiss. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer D. Duryea indicated that the mare may not have appreciated today’s firm track.
 
BIDZIIL – Raced wide without cover.
