SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
From Doomben 26 May 2018 – Race 9:
 
J. McDonald, the rider of ASSIMILATE, pleaded guilty to a charge of excessive use of the whip under AR. 137A(5)(a)(ii) in that prior to the 100m he used the whip on 13 occasions, a number of which were in consecutive strides. J. McDonald was fined $1000.
 
GENERAL
 
Due to transport difficulties, the following horses were late arriving on course, as a result of which they were examined by the veterinary surgeon, who passed them fit to race: SPIETH (Race 5), FUNDAMENTALIST (Race 6), REZEALIENT and WON WON TOO (Race 7).
 
Race 1: MAKERS MARK HINKLER H’CAP – 1200M
 
KURO – Raced three wide without cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying thumps.
 
SIEGFRIED – Was unable to obtain clear running at any stage in the home straight and as a consequence was unable to be tested.
 
TARZAN – Began awkwardly.
 
TOO GOOD TO REFUSE – Bumped at the start. Laid out in the home straight.
 
STELLA OMBRA – Raced three wide throughout with cover. Inconvenienced near the 250m.
 
BOOMWAA – Raced three wide and was allowed to stride forward and raced outside the lead near the 800m.
 
SONY LEGEND – Held up in the early part of the home straight.
 
COLOUR CHARGE – As no other rider was available at the weight, T. Brooker was permitted to ride the gelding half a kilogram over her declared weight. T. Brooker was fined $200.
 
GIBRALTAR GIRL – Held up for a short distance near the 300m.
 
Following the running of this event the track was downgraded to HEAVY 8 entire circumference, retrospective to Race 1.
 
Race 2: RADIOTAB THE WAYNE WILSON – 1600M
 
SACRED MASTER – Slow into stride. Raced three wide without cover.
 
HOPFGARTEN – Hung in badly in the home straight.
 
ULMANN – Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn and was shifted in to find clear running.
 
JUMBO PRINCE – Steadied from heels near the 1300m.
 
CANTBUYBETTER – Trapped extremely wide in the early stages and had to be restrained to obtain a position with cover after the 1200m. On straightening was steadied from the heels of DIVINE UNICORN, which shifted out slightly.
 
COLDSTONE – Held up for a short distance on straightening.
 
A SHIN ROOK – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost considerable ground. Trainer A. Freedman was advised that the stallion will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial before being permitted to race again. Mr Freedman advised that it would be his intention to spell the horse.
 
DIVINE UNICORN – B. Avdulla reported that the horse hung in throughout the event, particularly in the straight.
 
SHEISWHATSHEIS – J. Lloyd reported at scale that his mount overraced in the early stages and he was unable to restrain the mare. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
EXOCET – Slow into stride.
 
Race 3: ASCOT GREEN QUEENSLAND GUINEAS – 1600M
 
PEACEFUL STATE – Raced three wide with cover until the 800m. Bumped heavily near the 1400m. Performed disappointingly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be exhibiting a cough.
 
ASSIMILATE – Slow into stride.
 
SAMBRO – On pulling up, rider M. Walker became distressed, dismounted and sought immediate medical attention. As jockey Walker was unable to weigh in, acting under the provisions of AR. 142 stewards declared correct weight.
 
MISHANI BULLITT – Raced three wide without cover and then was allowed to stride forward to race outside the lead near the 800m.
 
DESTINY’S HERO – Slow into stride and hampered shortly afterwards.
 
SNAPCHAT GIRL – Raced wide throughout. Bumped heavily near the 1400m.
 
As M. Walker was stood down from his remaining engagements by the Club doctor, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Race 4: PAGES EVENT HIRE BRISBANE CUP – 2200M
 
AMBITIOUS – C. Williams reported at scale that his mount travelled well and when he placed the horse under pressure after leaving the 600m, it struggled in the track conditions.
 
KIWIA – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
NOZOMI – Held up approaching the home turn and did not secure clear running until the 200m.
 
THE WILDFLOWER – Steadied approaching the winning post on the first occasion when racing in restricted room.
 
ANTON EN AVANT – M. McGillivray was fined $300 for using the whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m.
 
NAVAL WARFARE – Weakened over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be stepping short in front.
 
MY DIAMANTINE – Lost its near hind plate in running.
 
Race 5: UBET STRADBROKE H’CAP – 1350M
 
IMPENDING – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be exhibiting a cough.
 
ENDLESS DRAMA – Raced three wide without cover outside the leaders.
 
VOODOO LAD – Raced three wide with cover.
 
SPIETH – Held up for a short distance on straightening and had to be shifted in to obtain clear running.
 
SHILLELAGH – Steadied when crowded shortly after the start.
 
BURNING PASSION – Raced four wide without cover. M. Cahill reported at scale that his mount never travelled well throughout the event.
 
SUPER CASH – Raced three wide with cover. J. Kah had her whip knocked out of her hand by the whip of C. Brown (CHAMPAGNE CUDDLES) near the 100m.
 
Race 6: JAGUAR LAND ROVER J.J. ATKINS PLATE – 1600M
 
LEAN MEAN MACHINE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
ZOUSAIN – Raced three wide with cover.
 
SESAR – Crowded on jumping. Steadied near the 1400m and shifted out to avoid a runner which had blundered ahead of it.
 
THE AUTUMN SUN – Raced three wide with cover.
 
GRIM REAPER – Underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers when blood was noticed in the gelding’s mouth and was passed fit to start.
 
CHAMPAGNE GARDEN – Raced three wide without cover.
 
PEPPI LA FEW – Slow into stride. Stumbled in the going near the 1400m whilst overracing.
 
MISS SARA – Blundered badly on jumping. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have overreached on the near fore, causing a laceration to the outside heel, and to have sprung the plate.
 
Race 7: CHANNEL SEVEN QUEENSLAND DERBY – 2200M
 
MAHAMEDEIS – Had to be steadied from heels passing the winning post on the first occasion and then made the crossing awkwardly.
 
REZEALIENT – Slow into stride. Had to be steadied near the 200m when crowded for room by LUCKY FOR ALL (D. Lane), which shifted in and immediately relieved the pressure. D. Lane was advised to exercise more care. Held up on the heels of a tiring runner near the 600m.
 
CALIFORNIA TURBO – Struck the fence just prior to straightening and became unbalanced.
 
LIVE AND FREE – Raced three wide without cover. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting a cough.
 
ALMIGHTY CROWN – Trainer C. Waller advised that it would be the intention to have the horse ridden in a forward position today. Raced in a midfield position. Had to be steadied when crowded for room whilst overracing approaching the winning post on the first occasion. Had to be steadied near the 700m to avoid the heels of a tiring runner.
 
BANNER SEASON – Hampered shortly after the start.
 
Race 8: BUNDABERG RUM DANE RIPPER STAKES – 1350M
 
As Jess Taylor was indisposed due to personal reasons, K. McEvoy was substituted as the rider of SLIGHTLY SWEET.
 
PROMPT RESPONSE – Raced three wide without cover.
 
FRENCH EMOTION – The stable reported that the horse sustained a laceration to the off fore fetlock earlier in the week and after receiving treatment it was cleared to race by the stable veterinary surgeon. Upon arrival on course the horse underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. B. Melham reported that in his opinion his mount failed to handle the track conditions today when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
SPRIGHT – Began awkwardly. Bumped on the hind quarters shortly after the start and became unbalanced. Raced three wide with cover. Raced in restricted room near the 400m.
 
PEDRENA – Raced three wide with cover.
 
SIREN’S FURY – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
WHITE MOSS – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
SYLPHEED – Connections advised that it would be the intention to have the horse ridden in a midfield position. The horse was ridden accordingly.
 
SWAMPLAND – Hampered when crowded on jumping.
 
O’RACHAEL – Checked severely when crowded on jumping. Raced four wide without cover.
 
MISS IANO – B. El-Issa was reprimanded for failing to weigh in 5th.
