GENERAL
 
As jockey M. McNab was stood down by the Club’s Doctor due to illness following his ride in
Race 2 stewards permitted rider replacements as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Race 1: Sky Thoroughbred Central QTIS 3YO Handicap – 1600m
 
TROOPER KELLY – Proved very difficult to settle in the early stages. Raced wide from the 600m until rounding the turn into the home straight. When questioned regarding the performance jockey J. Lloyd stated that it was originally his intention to get cover however when there was no pace in the early stages his mount proved very difficult to settle and got its head up on a number of occasions. He stated he then elected to go forward to the lead however the colt continued to race keenly. He added when placed under pressure the colt was disappointing and failed to respond in the straight. Trainer B. Currie advised it was his intention to spell the colt and in future would limit its starts over shorter distances. A post race veterinary examination revealed the colt had returned with a cut on the off side cheek and was lame in the near fore leg. Mr Currie was advised that a veterinary clearance must be produced prior to the colt racing again.
 
AILEACH – Near the 900m became unbalanced after making contact with the running rail.
 
BACCARAT BABY – Approaching the 600m became unbalanced after making contact with AILEACH which was commencing to improve. Laid inwards over the final 200m.
 
FISH N SNITZ – Bumped near the 200m.
 
RED DOULTON – Bumped near the 200m.
 
 
Race 2: Bentleys Chartered Accountants BM85 Handicap – 2200m
 
CHATELARD – Raced keenly when racing wide in the early stages.
 
SIR BARNABUS – Near the 1400m was eased after becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of SAN TELMO.
 
SAN TELMO – Steadied outward away from the heels of EXOTERIC near the 1400m and thereafter raced three wide without cover until approaching the 1000m.
 
EXOTERIC – Laid inward in the home straight. Cast an off fore plate in running.
 
 
Race 3: Vae Group Class 6 Plate – 1200m
 
THE MECHANIC – Jumped away awkwardly. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.
 
TAILLEVENT – Raced keenly for a short distance approaching the 800m. Laid outwards making the turn near the 600m. Unable to secure clear running for the majority of the straight and was unable to be fully tested by its rider.  When questioned regarding the run jockey M. Du Plessis stated that approaching the home straight PUZZLING WONDER rolled out and as a result he elected to come to the inside of that gelding and follow SUPER SUAVE. Shortly after SUPER SUAVE did not improve into the race as he expected and he then elected to go back to the inside to follow FREDDIE FOX TROT, which he felt would improve to allow him to gain a run thereafter however FREDDIE FOX TROT did not accelerate as he had expected and he was unable to obtain a clear run for the majority of the straight.Whilst noting jockey Du Plessis’ explanation stewards did advise him that in hindsight it may have been prudent to race behind SUPER SUAVE slightly longer so as to give himself possible options to both the inside and outside and to ride in a manner so as not to arouse query in future.
 
ATOUCHMORE – Steadied from the heels of GOOD TIME CHARLIE when being carried inwards slightly by TAILLEVENT near the 600m.
 
JUNGLIZED - When questioned regarding the performance jockey M. Cahill stated that he was able to lead as intended however the gelding never really travelled well throughout and responded only briefly when placed under pressure and was disappointing in the straight. Trainer B. Widdup advised that the gelding had arrived on Thursday and it was its first trip away. He stated he felt this may have had an affect and in future he would travel earlier with the gelding to allow it to acclimatise before its start.
 
 
Race 4: Rostron Carlyle Rojas Handicap – 1200m
 
DREAM FINNISH – Struck the rail on entering the track and was examined by the veterinary surgeon at the barriers and passed fit to start. Slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly.
 
CANNYESCENT – Lost ground shortly after the start when crowded between TVERSKY and TISANI TOMSO, which was bumped inwards by DARKTOWN STRUTTER. Suffered a bleeding attack during the event. Trainer D. Forster was advised that the gelding will incur a mandatory three month ban from racing and must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward prior to racing again.
 
TISANI TOMSO – Bumped shortly after the start. Bumped and carried wider near the 800m when DARKTOWN STRUTTER shifted out away from the heels of TVERSKY.
 
DARKTOWN STRUTTER – Shifted in shortly after the start making contact with TISANI TOMSO. Steadied out away from heels near the 800m.
 
NICCANOVA – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 5: JLL Proptech Class 3 Plate – 1350m
 
PLEASED – Bumped on jumping. Momentarily hampered near the 250m when MISS QUAINTLY shifted inwards.
 
SWEET ADALINE – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
 
ARTERIAL – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
MR BELLAGIO - Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
UMBERTO – Obliged to race wide in the early stages before being restrained to the rear of the field near the 800m.
 
RULER – Struck the running rail on a couple of occasions passing the 900m. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding, which was eased down in the home straight, revealed no abnormalities.
 
FRANCISCA – Raced wide throughout.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to a Good 3.
 
 
Race 6: Herron Todd White NMW Handicap – 1050m
 
GRIPPED – Slow to begin.
 
AGGRAVATE – Slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly.
 
PEDWAY – Attempted to buck for a number of strides shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout. Trainer K. Schweida was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s racing manners.
 
ORADONNA – Held up and unable to improve between the 400m and 300m.
 
BOLD XAVVI – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 7: Kestrel Solutions Handicap – 1600m
 
JAMINZAH – Slow to begin.
 
ANTON EN AVANT – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
ORDER AGAIN – Jockey L. Cassidy stated that his mount was inclined to hang inwards throughout and failed to run on in the straight. He added that due to the gelding hanging he had difficulty riding it out fully in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding not to be striding freely in front.
 
BODEGA NEGRA – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 8: Gadens Lawyers BM85 Handicap – 1350m
 
OLD HABITS – Slow to begin.
 
MOST EXALTED – Hampered on jumping when APOLOBOOM jumped awkwardly inwards.
 
REACH FOR HEAVEN – Approaching the 1000m had to be steadied inwards away from the heels of BACKSLAPPER, which shifted in and away from COURTZA KING.
 
DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE – Unable to secure clear running over the final 100m.
 
BACKSLAPPER – Held up for clear running over the concluding stages.
 
CHARLIE CAT – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
NOTHING BOX – When questioned regarding the improved performance trainer S. Morrisey stated that at its previous starts he had expected the gelding to perform well however it had played up en route to the racecourse and arrived in an agitated stated. In addition he noted that the gelding had returned after the race with a wound to one of its heels. Other than that he could offer no explanation.
 
 
Race 9: Surf Life Saving BM70 Handicap – 1600m
 
MADAM SHAZAM – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly resulting in its rider becoming severely unbalanced. Held up for clear running between the 400m and 300m.
TISANI GREY – Crowded on jumping when POLEMIC was bumped and carried inwards by RED COLOUR, which jumped awkwardly inwards.
 
POLEMIC – Bumped and inconvenienced on jumping.
 
RED COLOUR – Jumped awkwardly inwards making contact with POLEMIC.
 
KINCAPLE CHIEF – Steadied from the heels of FOXY AFFAIR near the 1400m. Then raced keenly for a short distance thereafter.
 
FOXY AFFAIR – Steadied from the heels of ANZIO, which shifted inwards near the 1400m. Near the 100m had to be steadied outwards away from the heels of HOTEL COSTE, which had been carried outwards by MONACO PLAYBOY, which hung outwards under pressure. App C. Gallagher (MONACO PLAYBOY) was reprimanded and advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.
 
HOTEL COSTE – Steadied shortly after the 1400m off the heels of ANZIO, which shifted in.
 
TEDDER AVENUE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
