Race 1: TULLOCH HOUSE MAIDEN H'CAP – 1110M

The start of this race was delayed when SPOOLING, which reared and became cast in the barriers, underwent a veterinary inspection and was declared a late scratching at 11:16 am. Trainer Mr R. Davidson was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance and a barrier certificate prior to its next start. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on SPOOLING be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 11:16 am:

0 cents in the dollar for the win #8
1 cent in the dollar for place of winner #8
1 cent in the dollar for 2nd place #15
1 cent in the dollar for 3rd place #11

BUDDIE OLLIE – Hung out rounding the home turn.

MARY JANE – Slow to begin. Overraced during the early stages and raced greenly throughout whilst racing wide.

SE RENDRE – Raced wide without cover.

THE ACTUARY – Trainer T. Gollan was fined $100 for failing to declare T. Marshall as the rider of the filly by the prescribed time. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.

DARING BELLE – Slow to begin. Had difficulty securing clear running rounding the home turn and was obliged to alter course on a number of occasions to secure clear running in the home straight.

Race 2: LEXUS QTIS 2YO H'CAP – 1350M

SINO DEFEAT – Held up for clear running from the 600m until the 250m.

THRASHER – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

Race 3: MILLERS SWIM SCHOOL QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1600M

The start of this race was delayed when APITHANOS became fractious in the barriers and had to be examined by the veterinary surgeon before being cleared to start.

FIORENTE STAR – Tightened for room at the start and had to be steadied. Improved on to heels and had to be checked near the 500m.

MONSTER OF POWER – Steadied from heels when he pace slackened approaching the 1200m and shifted wider, and as a result raced three wide without cover from that point onwards.

VALET – Tightened and obliged to steady on jumping away.

ADELASE – Began awkwardly. Overraced during the middle stages.

ICONISTA – Apprentice J. Huxtable became unbalanced passing the winning post when his mount attempted to jump a shadow.

ISABELLA’S SPRING – Bumped on jumping away. Eased near the 1400m when placed in restricted room. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

MISHANI HEART – Held up for clear running after passing the 500m and shortly afterwards was steadied when attempting to secure clear running to the inside of REAL IT IN.

REAL IT IN – Bumped near the 450m when racing to the outside of MISHANI HEART, which shifted out in an attempting to secure clear running.

Race 4: ROKU GIN CLASS 3 PLATE – 1050M

PURE PULSE – Raced wide without cover.

STYLISH SAGA – When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance, apprentice S. Thornton stated that the horse was reluctant to stride out when racing amongst other runners and was disappointing when placed under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities and a swab sample was taken.

HAIL MANHATTAN – Obliged to race in restricted room passing the 800m and was steadied.

ARQUERA – Slow to begin. Overraced and shifted wider to avoid heels near the 800m and then raced wide from that point onwards.

MIDNIGHT MATINEE – Slow to begin.

Race 5: THANK YOU HEALTHCARE WORKERS OPEN H'CAP – 2000M

MAGNUFIGHTER – Shifted wider near the 1300m and ridden forward to obtain a position outside the lead passing the 1000m.

MONGOLIAN WOLF – R. Wiggins was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used the whip on 12 occasions prior to the 100m and 18 times in total.

Race 6: XXXX DRY BENCHMARK 90 H'CAP – 1600M

SABKHAT – Cast both hind plates in running.

SIR BARNABUS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

SEAT OF POWER – Raced wide until the 900m.

Race 7: TAB QTIS 3YO PLATE – 1200M

GARIBALDI – Slow to begin.

GO DEEP – Overraced in the early stages.

THE MOVE – Trainer T. Gollan was fined $200 for failing to declare B. Thornton as the rider of the colt by the prescribed time.

Race 8: RACECOURSE VILLAGE CLASS 6 PLATE – 1200M

ROTHABYE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.

REACH FOR HEAVEN – Slow to begin.

BOLD ARIAL – Slow to begin.

Race 9: BERNBOROUGH ASCOT BENCHMARK 78 H'CAP – 1350M

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow L. Cassidy, the rider of 2nd placegetter CANAPES, to view the patrol footage to determine whether he had grounds on which to lodge an objection against the winner MR BELLAGIO. After viewing the videos jockey Cassidy indicated that he did not wish to proceed and correct weight was declared.

STARVIRGO – Jumped away awkwardly and made heavy contact with MAGIC FOX. When questioned regarding his tactics, jockey M. Du Plessis stated that the gelding jumped away very awkwardly and thereafter was unable to find cover. He added that STARVIRGO then had a tendency to overrace, noting that at its previous start over 1200m it also had a tendency to overrace, and said that it was not his intention to set a fast tempo.

OWN SWEET WAY – Slow to begin.

MAGIC FOX – Significantly tightened for room at the start and had to be checked. Had difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight until the 100m.
