Race 1: DARBY MCCARTHY TRIBUTE MAIDEN PLATE – 1050M
 
STYK AT IT – Disappointed for a run to the inside of TENKAYE approaching the 250m before altering course and shifting to the outside to improve.
 
BEAUETA – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced three wide with cover.
 
MORE THAN CHARGED – Bumped on jumping. Had to be steadied passing the 900m when crowded for room by SHOULDERS, which shifted in when not fully clear. A. Chau, the rider of SHOULDERS, was reprimanded under AR131(a). Raced three wide without cover from the 800m. Forced wider passing the 700m by SHOULDERS, which shifted out abruptly.
 
SHOULDERS – Raced greenly and passing the 900m shifted out before being corrected by its rider, and then shifted in crowding MORE THAN CHARGED. Improved on to the heels of LIZA WITH A ZEE approaching the 700m and shifted out abruptly, forcing MORE THAN CHARGED wider on the course.
 
LIZA WITH A ZEE – Began awkwardly.
 
TENKAYE – Bumped passing the 800m.
 
Race 2: #THERACES QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1050M
 
The start of this race was delayed significantly when during its preliminary WANTOK made heavy contact with the running rail, dislodging its rider. Jockey S. Cormack was cleared to fulfil his engagement and WANTOK was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. As a result of this incident, repairs were effected to the running rail.
 
WANTOK – Began awkwardly. Raced four wide without cover throughout.
 
FILLYRAE CYRUS – Bumped by ROMAN AUREUS when racing in restricted room passing the 800m, made contact with the running rail and became unbalanced. Bumped by BELROCOS BABE passing the 600m and became unbalanced. After passing the 500m, whilst racing greenly, hung out and became awkward in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer W. Stephens was advised that a warning would be placed against the filly for its racing manners.
 
LILIVALE LIBERTY – Bumped on jumping and then was crowded between ESSE and WANTOK and lost ground.
 
SHE’S OUR RIPPA – Began awkwardly.
 
ESSE – Rider C. Taylor reported that the gelding resented the kickback in the early and middle stages. When questioned, jockey Taylor advised that he elected to shift wider on the track passing the 300m as in his opinion the surface was better in that section. Trainer J. Pritchard advised stewards that she may experiment with some gear changes prior to the gelding’s next start.
 
ROCK WITH ME – Raced five wide in the early stages before being restrained passing the 900m to obtain a position with cover three wide passing the 800m.
 
DIYOSA – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 3: TAB STRADBROKE SEASON QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1350M
 
BATANGAS ENTRY – Bumped on jumping.
 
BECKFORD – Bumped on jumping. Had to alter course passing the 150m and improved into a narrow run between BETTER DAYS AHEAD and JENO. Rider J. Guthmann-Chester reported that in his opinion the colt would be better suited in races further than that of today’s event.
 
BETTER DAYS AHEAD – Bumped between runners on jumping. Raced keenly passing the 800m and had to be steadied away from the heels of DASH FOR DREAMS when the pace steadied and in doing so was shifted out and raced three wide without cover from that point onwards. Had to be steadied approaching the 100m when crowded between BECKFORD, which shifted in slightly, and VALLETTA KNIGHT, which laid out under pressure. Jockey R. Fradd, the rider of VALLETTA KNIGHT, was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
 
CLAIRVUE SUN – Slow to begin. Improved on to heels approaching the 400m and had to be steadied and alter course to secure clear running.
 
CORVO – Had to be restrained from heels when the pace steadied passing the 800m.
 
JENO – Slow to begin. Had to be shifted out passing the 800m to avoid the heels of CORVO when the pace steadied and raced three wide without cover from that point onwards. Laid in over the final 100m.
 
VALLETTA KNIGHT – Began awkwardly. Had to be restrained from heels when the pace steadied passing the 800m. Laid out under pressure approaching the 100m.
 
Race 4: MOET & CHANDON RACEDAY MAY 23 MAIDEN PLATE – 1350M
 
TRADUCE – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
QUOTANT – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Laid out under pressure over the final 150m.
 
A GLASS OF BUBBLES – Slow to begin.
 
COMPLIANCE – Began awkwardly. Laid in approaching the 600m and brushed the running rail.

Race 5: XXXX DRY RACEDAY MAY 30 CLASS 1 PLATE – 2240M
 
SECRET AGENT MAN – Overraced in the early stages. Bled from both nostrils. The gelding will be ineligible to race for a period of 3 months, and prior to resuming racing must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward.
 
WHAKAREWAREWA – Overraced in the early stages. Failed to respond when placed under pressure passing the 600m. Eased out of the event after passing the 400m and finished a distant last. Trainer B. Hill advised stewards that in light of today’s performance it would be the intention to send the gelding for a spell. However, stewards advised Mr Hill that the horse would be required to trial prior to resuming racing.
 
NEPTUNE’S CHOICE – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
STEEL PIER – Bumped on jumping. Forced wider on the course passing the 600m by SECRET AGENT MAN, which shifted out to improve.
 
FILTERS – Bumped on jumping.
 
RIVER OF LOVE – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly approaching the 1600m and was shifted three wide to improve and obtained the position outside the leader approaching the 1400m.
 
ZAMZARA – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages when in a rearward position before being shifted three wide and allowed to stride forward passing the 1500m to obtain the lead passing the 1100m.
 
CAIRNDOW – Trainer B. Lockwood advised stewards it would be his intention to have the gelding ridden forward if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly and was bumped on the hind quarters by STEEL PIER.
 
HIGHLAND REBEL – Bumped on jumping. Passing the 1400m, when in a rearward position, was shifted three wide and ridden forward to obtain the position outside the leader approaching the 900m. The veterinary surgeon reported that in his opinion the mare appeared to be lame in its near foreleg on leaving the course. Trainer C. Jordan was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to HIGHLAND REBEL returning to the races.
 
Race 6: TAB STRADBROKE DAY JUNE 6 QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 2070M
 
TORRENS – Became awkwardly placed at the heels of REAL IT IN passing the 300m and had to be steadied. Lost the off fore plate in running.
 
CITY SMART – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
EMPIRE GAMES – Bumped on the hind quarters by GROUP THINK approaching the 1700m and became unbalanced. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
GROUP THINK – Passing the 1800m was buffeted between EMPIRE GAMES and REAL IT IN, which was crowded for room by TORRENS, which was taken in by LOCAL GOSSIP. A. Spinks, the rider of LOCAL GOSSIP, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that he allowed his mount to shift in approaching the winning post on the first occasion, tightening TORRENS, which was forced in and bumped REAL IT IN, which was bumped and became unbalanced and was forced in bumping with GROUP THINK. Jockey Spinks’ licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days, to commence at midnight on Saturday 16 May and to expire at midnight on Tuesday 26 May 2020. In determining penalty, stewards took into account jockey Spinks’ previous good record in relation to this rule, his guilty plea and that the carelessness was in the mid-range.
 
BOLD DELAGO – Slow to begin. Laid in over the final 400m and passing the 100m was bumped on the hind quarters by CITY SMART, which was attempting a narrow run to the inside.
 
LOCAL GOSSIP – Raced three wide without cover in the early stages before being ridden forward to obtain the lead passing the 1300m.
 
REAL IT IN – Buffeted between GROUP THINK and TORRENS passing the 1800m. Shifted three wide to improve after passing the 1300m and obtained the position outside the leader passing the 1000m. Passing the 300m had to be steadied away from the heels of CITY SMART, which shifted out to improve.
 
Following this race jockey A. Spinks was stood down by the Club doctor and a riding replacement in Race 7 was made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Jockey Spinks was advised that he will require a medical clearance prior to riding again.
 
Race 7: QUINCY RACEDAY JUNE 13 CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1200M
 
INDY BONBON, which was fractious and reared in the barriers, injuring apprentice A. Thompson, was declared a late scratching at 4:06 pm. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on INDY BONBON be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 4:06 pm:

1 cent in the dollar for place of winner #4
2 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #3
0 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #6
 
GREEN JACKET – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start being effected and then began awkwardly.
 
CHARMACYS – Slow to begin. Shifted in under pressure over the final 150m.
 
SPARTAN – Slow to begin.
 
DIVINE DECADENCE – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
SAUTE – Held up in the early stages of the home straight. Disappointed for a run passing the 200m between POINTSTOHAPPINESS and MISS DAIQUIRI before altering course to the inside to secure clear running.
 
As apprentice A. Thompson was unable to fulfil his engagement in this race after complaining of soreness to his right ankle, following the event he was examined by the Club doctor who reported that it was most likely that apprentice Thompson had suffered a spasm injury to his ankle, however, he was cleared to fulfil his engagement in Race 8.
 
Race 8: #BNERACES BENCHMARK 70 H'CAP – 1350M
 
ATLANTIC CITY – Reared as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Trainer T. Timbery was advised that a further barrier certificate would be required prior to the horse racing again.
 
VAULTING AMBITION – Slow to begin.
 
ZOUCARA – Passing the 150m rider R. Wiggins lost his nearside rein and was unable to gather that rein over the concluding stages.
 
BUSTA MOVE – Apprentice A. Thompson was reprimanded under AR132(6)(b) for raising his whip arm above shoulder height.
