TRAMPS’N’THIEVES – rider dropped whip near 200 metres.
SHADA PAREE – steadied from heels near the 800 metres.
PRINCESS RACER – began awkwardly and lost ground at the start. Rider P Romeo reported the filly raced greenly in the early stages of the event and in his opinion resented the dust kickback.
Race 2: CLASS B HDCP 1030 Metres
JAMMO JACK – slow to begin.
TABRIZ – hampered at the start when the outside barrier sprung back making contact with the near side shoulder of that runner. The barriers were satisfactorily tested prior to the running of race 3.
BUCK THE SYSTEM – hung out rounding the home-turn.
Race 3: BENCHMARK 55 HDCP 1200 Metres
MUSIC SCENE – when questioned regarding the disappointing performance rider L McCoy stated the gelding travelled comfortably until near the 300 metres but when forced wider rounding the home-turn MUSIC SCENE blundered near the 200 metres and from that point on failed to let down in its usual manner. A post race Vet examination failed to reveal any abnormality.
MY BLING – improved onto heels approaching the 400 metres, and then held up and obliged to shift out to obtain clear running near the 200 metres.
GREAT PATIENCE – raced wide for majority of the event.
Race 4: BENCHMARK 45 HDCP 1350 Metres
Due to a technical malfunction with the photo finish system for this race official placings, margins and times were declared from the official DVD patrol footage. This issue was rectified for the following race.
IBELIEVEICANFLY – raced wide in the early and middle stages.
SHOCKWAVE – shifted in abruptly at the start checking runners to the inside. When questioned regarding below market performance to be beaten in excess of 32 lengths rider L Appo stated the gelding races best when able to lead and has displayed its best form on sand tracks. A post race Vet examination failed to reveal any abnormality.
OUR HAPPY RAIN – checked at the start when another runner shifted in abruptly.
BINESI – checked at the start when another runner shifted in abruptly.
SHERINGA – permission was granted for L MCoy to ride the mare ½ kg over on the minimum weight.
Race 5: CUP OPEN HDCP 1350 Metres
Correct weight was initially delayed to allow App H English, rider of second placegetter WINNER WIMMER to view the photo finish image for first, and further to allow Mr G Richardson (representing trainer P Sexton) to view the DVD footage in the home straight. After doing so correct weight was declared on the judges placings.
No racing incidents.
