RACE 1: ENSHAM RESOURCES BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP (1200)
OSSENHAGEN – Slow into stride.
SAMUEL JAMES – Overraced in the early stages and again near the 700 metres and obliged to steady from heels.
STARANTE – Slow into stride.
CRUISE POWER – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Raced three wide with cover for the majority.
WICKED EXPRESS – Raced three without cover for the majority.
VALFIERNO – Obliged to steady from heels approaching the 800 metres. Jockey L Dillon stated that the gelding never felt comfortable on today’s track conditions.
CLASSIC WIND – Slow into stride.
FALKIRK DRIVE – Jockey R Payne reported that in her opinion the gelding got its tongue over the bit which may contributed to today’s disappointing performance.
RACE 2: CTC ELECTRICAL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE (1000m)
Due to predicted storms in the area this event commenced at 2:10pm.
A REAL GEM – Raced three wide without cover.
DELCETTO SYRAH – Raced four wide without cover. Jockey M Stephens reported that is his view the gelding may not have handled today’s track conditions.
MENTON – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had bled from both nostrils. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised that the gelding would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months and is required to gallop over 1000 metres in the presence of a steward prior to its resumption of racing.
RACE 3: LONGWALL CHAIN AUSTRALIA CLASS B HANDICAP (1000m)
New start time 2.35 pm.
CLEARWATER – Began awkwardly.
EYE STOPPER – Shifted out under pressure over the final 200 metres.
FAY ELEMENT – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
SHADEA LADY – Raced three wide without cover for the majority.
LOGSPLITTER – Slow into stride.
ZLOTO – Slow into stride and obliged to steady from heels near the 800 metres when overracing. App. T Doyle was reprimanded under AR137A(5)(a)(ii) regarding his whip use over the final 300 metres of the event. When considering penalty Stewards noted that App. Doyle had no previous breaches under this rule.
RACE 4: AMPCONTROL BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP (1300m)
Due to storms and lightning in the vicinity there was an indefinite delay.
After consultation with all riders, club staff and officials it was deemed safe to proceed at 4.25 pm.
STYLISH LUCK – Raced three wide for the majority.
SOUND INVESTMENT – Slow into stride.
ENEMY OF MAN – Shifted out under pressure over the final 200m.
ARGENTO PERLO – Slow into stride. Overraced and steadied from heels near the 850m due to the moderate speed of the event.
TABRIZ – Raced three wide for the majority.
THAT’S HER I THINK - Overraced and steadied from heels near the 850m due to the moderate speed of the event. Hampered by a tiring runner on straightening.
RACE 5: BENTLEY’S QLD COUNTRY CUPS CHALLENGE. QUAL/EMERALD 100 OPEN HANDICAP (1850m)
GREEN EMPIRE – Apprentice Doyle dropped his whip inside the final 100m.
MARKOUT – Raced wide throughout.
MOHAKA RIVER – Slow into stride. Jockey Shield dropped his whip inside the final 100m.
ESCHIELE – Hung in under pressure over the final 200m.
OUR BEATNIK – Caught wide in the early stages, its rider then elected to stride forward near the 1300m and occupy a more prominent position
MISHANI CENTURION – Stewards permitted jockey S Watkin to ride 1 and a half kg overweight due to the significant delays and high humidity. Slow into stride.
