THE OTHER FELLA – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Had to be restrained after improving onto heels in the vicinity of the 500m. Laid in under pressure in the straight.

Race 4: Sponsorships Available Benchmark 60 H’cap – 1615m

Correct weight was delayed to allow trainer G. Bell and rider E. Smith, trainer and rider of ADDICTED, and also trainer J. Lancaster and jockey B. Appo, trainer and rider of OR ELSE, to view the stewards patrol films and hear evidence from the judge as it was established following the running of Race 4 that the photo-finish equipment malfunctioned and was unable to take an official photo. It was ascertained that the Judge when placing the runners across the line declared No. 1, ADDICTED, to be first, No.9, OR ELSE, to be second, No.5, PAPER TALK, to be third, and No. 7, MR RESETTI, to be forth. After hearing evidence, and acting upon Australian Rule 214(4), the judges numbers should be final, and stewards were not satisfied that the Judge had made an error in placing runners across the line and as such declared correct weight on the Judge’s numbers:
1-9-5-7. Following the running of Race 4 the photo-finish equipment was re tested.

TIME STAMP – Trainer’s representative S Neilson was advised that the horse, which performed poorly, would be required to trial competitively in an official trial prior to its next race start.

SWINGAHINCH – In the vicinity of the 500m had to be restrained and blundered when improving on to heels of PIPEMAJOR. Approaching the 200m had to be restrained when being disappointed for a run between ADDICTED, which laid in, and PAPER TALK, which shifted out when insufficiently clear. S. Wiseman, rider of paper talk pleaded to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) for shifting ground when insufficiently clear to do so and was suspended for a period of 7 days, to commence at midnight, 5 May and to conclude at midnight 12 May. In assessing penalty, stewards took into account jockey S. Wiseman’s good record, guilty plea and the contributing shift of jockey E. Smith, rider of ADDICTED. Jockey E. Smith, rider of ADDICTED, was reminded of her obligations to stop riding and straighten her mounts when they shift ground in future.

THE DECKERAIDER – Slow to begin. Approaching the 100m became awkwardly placed on the heels of OR ELSE when attempting a run to the outside, and in doing so was obliged to shift back in and could not be fully tested in the run to the finish.

ADDICTED – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
