Race 1: Emmos Fine Foods QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate – 1100m  
 
KUNCKLE UP – Tightened for room on jumping away.  Tightened for room passing the 400m when runners on either side shifted ground.
 
TEQUILA BOOM – Tightened for room on jumping away. Forced wider near the 500m.
 
NOONOO – Raced ungenerously with its head in the air for a short distance whilst being restrained in the early stages.
 
ONWARD TO VICTORY – Shifted out and forced TEQUILA BOOM wider on the track near the 500m.
 
FLYING PRETTY – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 2: Wilson Bros Finance Maiden H’cap – 1400m
 
JONDY QUALO – Steadied to avoid heels in the early stages of the race.
 
RED MONKEY – Raced greenly in the early and middle stages.
 
HOLLYWOOD STAR – Steadied to avoid the heels of another runner near the 600m.
 
WEAR THE FOX HAT – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
VELLEITY – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
JARDINE – Raced wide with cover throughout the event.
 
NOBLE BILLY – On return to scale jockey R. Goltz reported that after beginning well he rode his mount along in the early stages and was therefore able to obtain a more forward position than at its most recent start where after being slow to begin the gelding settled towards the tail of the field.
 
 
Race 3: Ray Bachmann Real Estate Benchmark 55 H’cap – 860m  
 
MAGIC INK – The start was delayed initially when the horse proved difficult to load.
 
POETIC DRAGON – The start was further delayed when the horse became fractious in the barriers and required to undergo a veterinary examination. Following this examination the horse was passed fit to start.
 
INFINITE LEE – The start was again further delayed when the horse broke through the barriers, dislodging its rider and galloping a circuit of the course riderless.  After being captured, INFINITE LEE was declared a late scratching by order of the stewards at 2.34 pm, and upon the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable.  Jockey K. Yoshida was uninjured in this incident.

LUSHNESS – Slow to begin.

WHATEVER MISS – Leaving the 500m raced in restricted room for a short distance .
 
 
Race 4: Porters Plainland Hotel Class 4 H’cap – 1100m
 
MR MARKOU – Reared over in the barriers and became cast. After being removed from the barriers, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and was declared a late scratching at 3.13 pm.  Upon the declaration of correct weight, all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded, with the following deductions applicable.

11 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets for the win
25 cents in the dollar on the face value of 2nd place bets
33 cents in the dollar on the face value of 3rd place bets
 
 
Jockey B. Appo was uninjured in this incident.  Trainer B. Currie’s stable representative was advised that he would be required to provide 2 further barrier certificates for the horse prior to its next race start.
 
CAPITAL CITY – The start was further delayed when the horse broke through the barriers before being quickly restrained by its rider. Upon return to the barriers was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to race. Bumped on jumping away.
 
SURE DEAL – Bumped on jumping away.
 
TRY ‘N’ CATCH ME – Passing the 800m raced with its head in the air whilst being restrained.
 
OVERGROWN – Raced 4 wide without cover throughout.
 
ALL OUR WIVES – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.
 
SNIPPET OF HOPE – Raced 3 wide with cover.
 
 
Race 5:  Emmerson Legal & Accounting Benchmark 55 H’cap – 1100m
 
DRUM MASTER – Bumped at the start.
 
ALAKAI – Bumped at the start.
 
OMISSION – Raced wide with cover for the majority of the race.
 
ALAKAI – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
MR CHOW – Raced 4 wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
MIA HOST – Stewards questioned trainer D. Rideout in relation to the seemingly improved performance of the horse.  Mr Rideout explained that 2 starts ago the mare raced well at this venue when finishing third over 860m. He added last start at Rockhampton over 1200m, in his opinion, the mare failed to run out the distance of that event on that occasion.  For that reason today he dropped the mare back in distance and in class for today’s event, which he felt was to the mare’s advantage in today’s event.  Stewards noted the explanation.
 
WINNING ACCORD – Apprentice H. Phillips was reprimanded for use of whip on a horse out of contention.
 
Race 6:  Haymans Electrical & Industrial Suppliers Laidley Cup Open H’cap – 1600m
 
WALK TO THE BAR – After being caught wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward to a position outside the leader near the 800m.
 
 
 
 
Race 7: BFP Agricultural Consultants Class 2 Plate – 1400m
 
WHISTLINDIXIE – Tightened for room shortly after the start. Apprentice S. Sweeney dropped her whip shortly after entering the home straight.
 
TEMUJIN’S MOON – Leaving the 1000m was forced to steady to avoid heels.
 
DRUMMERS CHANCE – Tightened for room shortly after the start and as a result lost ground.
 
WINE BARREL – Laid in rounding the home turn and in the home straight and proved difficult to ride out.
 
MONACO MIRACLE – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
VISONA PLAYBOY – Jockey J. Stanley reported that the gelding did not feel entirely comfortable on the tight turning track today as it was inclined to lay out on the turns.
