RACE 1: Snippets Memorial Maiden Plate – 1400m
1st: Donot Say Anything   2nd: Youwonit   3rd: The Real Spiel   4th:  Dee Cee Delights

PUELLA – Raced wide without cover throughout and near the 800m was forced wider on the track by another runner.

SQUIDINKUM – Shifted out 3 wide on the track to improve into the race near the 700m.

MY GIRL CHAZ – When afforded the opportunity to comment on the performance jockey Matthew Palmer stated that the filly never travelled comfortably throughout and in his opinion failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.  A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

DONOT SAY ANYTHING – Jockey M. McGuren reported to stewards that his saddle shifted shortly after the start and gradually shifted further back as the race went on.

RACE 2: Cole Diesel Memorial Maiden H’Cap – 1800m
1st: Barraaj   2nd: Stoke It Up   3rd: Endless Don   4th:  King Amadeus

BRING ME THE VOICE – Slow into stride.  Approaching the 400m had to be steadied when tightened for room between runners.

STOKE IT UP – Began awkwardly and bumped EMPEROR’S BEACH.

CLEARFIELD – Approaching the first turn near the 1500m commenced to overrace and had to be restrained.

BARRAAJ – Commenced to overrace for a short distance approaching the 1500m and shifted out forcing EMPEROR’S BEACH wider.  When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance trainer A. Plumb stated that as a result of the track downgrade today to a Soft 7 she was not overly comfortable of a forward showing due to the track downgrade as it had previously failed on a similar track last start however, could attribute the improved performance to the step up to 1800m.  Stewards noted the explanation.

ENDLESS DON – After obtaining a position with cover approaching the 1500m improved onto heels , shifted wider on the track and then commenced to overrace for a short distance.

RACE 3: Shootout Memorial Class 2 H’Cap – 1800m
1st: Gorada   2nd: Premiere Place   3rd: Joueur   4th:  Dubleo’s Lad

HALLS CREEK – Began awkwardly and lost ground.  Raced wide in the early and middle stages before obtaining cover near the 1100m.  When asked to explain the disappointing performance App M. Murphy stated that the gelding was reluctant to jump away and as a result lost ground at the start.  App Murphy added that after racing wide in the early and middle stages he was unable to obtain cover in a trailing position unil near the 1100m.  App Murphy further added that the gelding was travelling fairly approaching the home turn however, when asked for an effort failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing.  A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had a slower than normal recovery rate.

AFTON PRINCE – Shifted out and bumped AHMAH STAR at the start.  Bumped on a number of occasions shortly after. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils.  Trainer H. Page was advised that as this was the first occasion the gelding had bled it will incur the mandatory 3 month ban and must compete in a 1000m gallop.

AHMAH STAR – Commenced to overrace near the 1500m and refused to settle when being restrained and as a result raced 3 wide without cover for the majority.  Stewards questioned jockey L. Cheshire regarding the tactics adopted.  Jockey Cheshire stated that after the gelding commenced to overrace approaching the 1500m she was forced to shift out and race wide rounding the first turn.  Jockey Cheshire added that the gelding then continued to overrace fiercely and was reluctant to settle when being restrained.  Jockey Cheshire further added that she was mindful of her instructions not to have the gelding in a leading position and therefore attempted to restrain to obtain a position with cover however, when runners to her inside PREMIERE PLACE and JOUEUR improved to her inside she was unable to obtain cover and elected to remain in a 3 wide position.  Stewards whilst noting her instructions advised jockey Cheshire that given the circumstances when her mount was overracing it would have been a better option for her to allow her mount to stride forward to obtain a position closer to the rail in the lead.

AUSTRALIA ART – Raced wide throughout.

RACE 4: Peter Gallagher Memorial Class 4 H’Cap – 1100m
1st: Zip To The Moon   2nd: It’s Vegas Baby   3rd: Tin’s Pocket   4th:  I Like Candy

ZIP TO THE MOON – Inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages.

I LIKE CANDY – Jockey P. Timbery was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the end of the race.

IT’S VEGAS BABY – When questioned regarding the tactics adopted jockey D. Griffin stated that it was not his intention to settle as far back as he did.  Jockey Griffin stated that after being tightened for room shortly after the start he was obliged to settle further back than anticipated and also added that near the 900m the gelding improved onto the heels of GEORGIO and as a consequence was obliged to restrain his mount and as a result lost further ground.

RACE 5: Frank Evans Memorial Fillies & Mares Class 1 H’Cap – 1200m
D/Heat 1st: He’s A Natural & Wack’Em    3rd: King Red   4th:  Zoutano

WACK’EM – Raced wide in the early stages.

RESOLUTE – Overraced badly when positioned outside the leader in the early and middle stages and then weakened in the home straight.

RACE 6: Frank Evans Memorial Fillies & Mares Class 1 H’Cap – 1200m

Butterworth was advised that a veterinary certificate must be produced should the mare race again.

KICK ‘N’ TEL – Laid in under pressure near the 100m resulting in its rider having to stop and straighten.

MISS HEIDELICIOUS – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

LEGS UNBARRED – When questioned regarding the performance App M. Murphy stated that it was his intention to lead however, the mare failed to show the necessary speed to take up that position.  App Murphy added that in his opinion the mare was not entirely comfortable in the prevailing track conditions.  A post race veterinary examination revealed lacerations to the off hind leg consistent with being galloped on.
