GENERAL
45 horses engaged at todays meeting were sampled in the week leading up to todays meeting.
 
RACE 1: Pacific Fair Magic Millions Maiden Plate – 1200m
 
MAY I SAY – Blundered at the start and was then crowded shortly after.
 
EPIC RANT – Steadied when crowded shortly after the start.
 
MR KYLIN - Steadied when crowded shortly after the start. Near the 1000m when overracing had to be steadied slightly.
 
LOVE AND ROCK IT – Raced greenly in the middle stages. Raced wide throughout.
 
SPLITTER – Held up for a considerable distance in the home straight.
 
SHESEES EVERYTHING – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
BAY OF MODENA – Hung out badly throughout and raced 5 wide without cover.
 
WESTROCK – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from mild heat stress and had sustained a laceration to the off hind pastern.
DINNIGAN – Co-trainer A. Bott reported that the filly sweated up prior to the race and may not have been suited by the drop back in distance today. Mr Bott indicated that the filly will now be sent for a spell.
 
RACE 2: Lexus Magic Millions Country Cup (Special Conditions) – 1200m
 
TRUST ME – Began awkwardly. Hung out on the home turn.
 
YARRAPOWER – Bumped at the start.
 
POWERFUL FLASH – Slow to muster speed.
 
CONCA DEL SOGNO – Crowded shortly after the start.
 
HES A MORAL – Hampered shortly after the start. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
HUSSON BOOTS – After the 1000m was bumped when taken in slightly.
 
SUGGAN BUGGAN – Laid in in the early part of the straight before obtaining clear running.
 
ROTHABYE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
PURE REBEL – Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
NOT SURPRISING – Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
LOMAZZO – A post race veterinary examination of the gelding, which was eased down over the final 300m, revealed a fracture to the near fore lateral sesamoid. Upon receiving first aid immediately after the race the gelding was then transported to the Gold Coast Equine Clinic for further assessment. Stewards were subsequently advised that the gelding was subsequently euthanased on humane grounds.
 
RACE 3: Racing Queensland Magic Millions QTIS Open – 1300m
 
SECRET TRAIL – Trainer P. Snowden advised the horse would be ridden more forward today. The horse raced in a handy position. Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.
 
REALING – Slow into stride. After obtaining clear running near the 250m laid in under pressure.
 
FIT FOR PURPOSE – Slow into stride.
 
GLENDARA – Slow into stride. Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
RICH AFFAIR – Bumped heavily on straightening. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
UPSTART PRIDE - A post race veterinary examination of the gelding, which weakened over the final 400m, revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
Jockey R. Bayliss (SECRET TRAIL) was fined $500 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.  
SIEGFRIED – Upon return to scale jockey J. Lloyd reported the gelding to be short striding in front. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer T. Edmonds was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to its next star.
 
RACE 4: Sky Thoroughbred Central Magic Millions Trophy – 2200m
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight the connections of 2nd placegetter SEDANZER viewed the photo finish and were subsequently satisfied with the placings.
 
ENDLESS DAYS – Began awkwardly.
 
MULTITUDE – Overraced in the early stages. Lost the near hind plate in running.
 
INGEEGOODBE – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
DARK EYES – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
MY GIULIANO – Steadied from heels passing the winning post on the first occasion.
 
BLACK ON GOLD - Steadied from heels passing the winning post on the first occasion. Shifted out upon straightening and bumped FELTRE.
 
FELTRE – Bumped by BLACK ON GOLD near the 500m and again upon straightening.
 
SKYTREK – Raced wide throughout.
 
OUTRAGED – Raced wide throughout.
 
TUMULTUOUS – Lost the near hind plate in running.
 
RACE 5: Its Live! In Qld Magic Millions Fillies & Mares – 1300m
 
SUSPENDERS – Bumped heavily on jumping.
 
MY COUNTRY – Began awkwardly.
 
MAGIC ALIBI – Near the 1200m was badly crowded for room between SUSPENDERS and MERRIEST, which was taken out by ECKSTEIN.
 
PEPPERANO – Badly crowded for room near the 1200m between SUSPENDERS and MERRIEST. Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. Jockey M. McGillivray reported after being hampered shortly after the start the mare failed to stretch out on todays firm surface.
 
CANDIKA – Near the 700m became unbalanced when crowded for room. The horse was eased down over the concluding stages. Trainer S. Odea will be contacted regarding the horses condition in the following days.
 
INVINCIBELLA – Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
BIDII BABE – Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
GLOBAL GLAMOUR – Jockey T. Clark reported the mare was obliged to race 3 wide throughout and bearing in mind it was first up today with the heavy impost of 60.5 kilos it peaked on its run near the 300m.
 
DONTBABYLON – Jockey J. Lloyd reported the mare raced flat today and never travelled comfortably with him at any stage.
 
RACE 6: Woodford Reserve Magic Millions Cup (R.L.) – 1400m
 
CRACK ME UP – Jockey D. Browne reported his mount slipped at the start.
 
LUCKY HUSSLER – Began awkwardly.
 
MILWAUKEE – Slow into stride.
 
OZI CHOICE – Slow into stride. When caught racing wide in the early stages was allowed to stride forward and race outside the lead after the 1000m. Post race the gelding was treaded for heat stress.
 
SNOOPY – Slow into stride. Laid in when giving ground in the straight.
 
POWERLINE – After the 700m when overracing had to be steadied from heels.
 
INVINZABEEL – Badly crowded on straightening and was eventually checked. Jockey L. Currie (OAK DOOR) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that upon straightening he directed his mount out resulting in INVINZABEEL being crowded for room and checked. Jockey Curries licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of twelve (12) days to commence midnight 13 January 2018 and expire midnight 25 January 2018. Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.
 
CARE TO THINK – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
I THOUGHT SO – Raced 4 wide without cover throughout.
 
RACE 7: Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (R.L.) – 1400m
 
ARRESTAR was scratched by order of QRIC stewards following a veterinary examination on Friday morning 12 January 2018 when the gelding was found to be lame in the near hind leg. Mr Dunn was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to its next start.
 
The remaining runners in this event were all vetted prior to today and cleared to start.
 
CELLARGIRL – Trainer K. Schweida advised the horse would be ridden further forward today. After being slow to begin settled at the rear of the field. Checked near the 900m.
 
BEL SONIC – Proved difficult to load and was fractious in the barriers. Began awkwardly and was then crowded for room shortly after the start when SASSO CORBARO shifted in. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from heat stress.
 
SHOGUN SUN – Bumped at the start and was slow to muster speed. Checked away from heels near the 900m. Bumped near the 400m. Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.
 
SMARTEDGE – Slow into stride. Rounding the home turn was awkwardly placed at heels, restrained and was then held up for a short distance in the straight.
 
PINCH PASSION – Slow to begin.
 
I AM IMPINGE – Bumped shortly after the start. Bumped near the 400m. Raced 3 wide throughout. Jockey J. Lloyd reported his mount hung out throughout.
 
MAGNUFIGHTER – Struck the running rail and was checked severely near the 900m.
 
LADY OF CREBILLY – Checked away from heels near the 900m. Lost an off fore plate in running.
 
GOODFELLA – Bumped heavily near the 900m.
 
PIERATA – Near the 250m was bumped by GOODFELLA.
 
CALCULATED – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
SAINT PATRICKS DAY – Raced 3 wide throughout.

RACE 8: Magic Millions 2YO Classic (R.L.) – 1200m
 
All runners in this event were vetted prior to today and cleared to start.
 
SKYRAY – After striking its hind quarters in the stall area, was re-examined behind the barriers and cleared to start. Slow into stride.
 
FULLAZABOOT – Slow into stride. Inconvenienced near the 800m from interference in front.
 
JONKER – Struck the running rail near the 800m and was severely checked. Jockey M. McGillivray (EF TROOP) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that after the 900m he permitted his mount to shift in whilst riding it along taking SUNLIGHT in onto SECRET LADY, which was carried across the running of JONKER, which struck the running rail and was severely checked near the 800m. Bearing in mind the severity of the interference, the status of the race and the degree of carelessness jockey McGillivrays licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of one (1) month to commence midnight 13 January 2018 and expire midnight 13 February 2018. A post race veterinary examination of JONKER revealed it to have sustained multiple abrasions to all 4 legs.   
 
MERYL – Checked severely near the 800m.
 
WITHERSPOON - Checked severely near the 800m.
 
BONDI - Checked severely near the 800m.
 
LEGISLATION – Inconvenienced near the 800m from interference in front.
 
WHISKEY SHOOTER - Inconvenienced near the 800m from interference in front.
 
NOMOTHAJ – Checked severely near the 800m. Steadied near the 250m to avoid the heels of WITHERSPOON, which shifted away from SECRET LADY.
 
RACE 9: Harrolds Magic Millions Snippets – 1200m
 
PINCH RIVER – Slow to begin. On straightening had to be steadied when crowded for room slightly.Raced 3 wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination, which pulled up quickly past the winning post, revealed the gelding, which was shod in three-quarter plates in front, to be intermittently lame in the near fore leg. Trainer R. Heathcote advised the gelding would now be going for a lengthy spell and no further action was taken.
 
SIR  MOMENTS – Slow to begin.
 
SNITZKRAFT – Began very awkwardly. Jockey L. Cassidy reported his mount hung out from the 800m. A post race veterinary examination of the colt revealed no abnormalities.
 
PERFECT DARE – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
VIDDORA – Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
LE CORDON BLEU - Cast an off hind plate in running.
