Race 1: Free Family Fun Day Sat 25th Maiden Handicap – 900m
 
RABBIT HUNTER – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
EPIFFANY – Slow to begin.
 
MOSSERATI – A short distance after the start had to be steadied when tightened for room between LARBAUD and DUKATTI, which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
 
LARBAUD – Approaching the 600m had to be eased when placed in restricted room to the inside of DUKATTI.
 
SHINSTAR – Raced greenly throughout.
 

Race 2: GIFT IT NOW QTIS 3YO Maiden Plate – 1400m
 
JUST GIVEME RUBIES – Shortly after the start was restrained to take up a position at the rear of the field with cover.
 
Race 3: MANTRA HOTELS Class 4 Handicap – 1800m
 
WHYNOTROC – Slow to begin.
 
SHANDAARA – Raced three wide without cover for the majority and commenced to weaken approaching the 500m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.  
 
 
Race 4: CON X ION BenchMark 75 Handicap – 900m
.
The start was delayed when VOL VALLEE refused to load. VOL VALLEE was declared a late scratching at 2.06 p.m. by order of stewards. All monies invested on VOL VALLEE were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 2.06 p.m.:-
 
1 cent in the dollar for the win - #5 (KILLERMANS RUN)
3 cents in the dollar for place of winner - #5 (KILLERMANS RUN)
5 cents in the dollar for 2nd place - #4 (SIR MAGIC)
(no deductions for 3rd place)
 
Trainer D. Murphy was advised that the mare will require a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
 
SIR MAGIC – Slow to begin. Near the 600m had to be steadied when placed in restricted room inside of DON’T PLAY AROUND.
 
POWERFUL SAGA – Began awkwardly.
 
DON’T PLAY AROUND – Approaching the 600m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of AIMALAC BOBBY. Jockey J. Taylor dropped his whip approaching the 100m.
 
 
Race 5: CURRUMBIN WILDLIFE SANCTUARY Maiden Plate – 1300m
 
As jockey N. Thomas was indisposed stewards permitted A. Spinks to be substituted as the rider of SARAHS JULE.
 
Trainer C. Anderson was fined $100 for the late declaration of A. Allen as the rider of AMERICAN LOVE.
 
After being notified by trainer L. Birchley that HALF MOON BLUE would be late arriving on course due to transport difficulties the mare was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.
 
HONEST NATALIE – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
SARAHS JULE – Tightened for room at the start. Jockey A. Spinks reported at scale that his mount raced greenly in the home straight and approaching the 200m shifted out under pressure resulting in him having to stop and straighten his mount.
MONROVIA – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Raced wide throughout.
 
LE CHARIOTEER – Began awkwardly. Approaching and passing the 800m commenced to overrace and had to be restrained from heels.
 
HUGS N KISSES – Severely hampered for room shortly after the start.
 
SOLITARY ROSE – Bumped on the hind quarters shortly after the start and became unbalanced momentarily. Had difficulty obtaining clear running between the 200m and 100m and then approaching the 100m was obliged to alter course.
 
ELITE LABEL – Bumped on a couple of occasions shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
AMERICAN LOVE – Passing the 1000m when overracing had to be restrained from the heels of HONEST NATALIE and a short distance later continued to overrace and had to be restrained. Upon entering the home straight when racing greenly had to be restrained from the heels of MY DREAM LOVER.
 
GILDED LION – Approaching the 200m had to be checked away from the heels of HONEST NATALIE, which shifted out and away from AMERICAN LOVE, which shifted out under pressure. Jockey A. Allen (AMERICAN LOVE) was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
OSMOND – Had to be eased approaching the 200m when placed in restricted room.
 
HALF MOON BLUE – When questioned regarding the performance jockey L. Rolls noted that the mare was having its first start today and when racing in the home straight was reluctant to improve to the inside of runners. He added that near the 300m when racing tight to the inside of OSMOND had to steady his mount and from this point it was one paced to the finish. Stewards reminded jockey Rolls of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the end of the race. A routine swab sample was taken.
 
 
Race 6: SKYDIVE AUSTRALIA Class 2 Handicap – 1400m
 
ONEMORE EMOTION – Stable representative advised the horse would be ridden further forward today if circumstances permit. The horse settled midfield. When questioned regarding the performance jockey L. Dittman stated that the gelding travelled fairly throughout the race however, when placed under pressure and afforded clear running upon entering the home straight failed to quicken as expected.
 
I REMEMBER YOU – Tightened for room at the start. Near the 900m commenced to overrace and when being steadied shifted out and bumped WINDCATCHER.
 
CHOPPA – Began awkwardly and a short distance later had to be steadied from the heels of FIELD OF FIRE.
OAKFIELD MONARCH – Began awkwardly. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted when leading today, which is in contrast to its last start, jockey A. Fancourt stated that her instructions were to take up a forward position and possibly sit outside the leader. Jockey Fancourt added after pressing forward and due to the slow tempo she elected to stride forward to the outright lead. Stewards noted that the gelding was having its second start for the stable and would expect the gelding to be ridden in a similar manner in future events.
 
RELAXED – Slow into stride.
 
POLEMIC – Raced wide in the early stages before obtaining a position outside the leader near the 700m.
 
WINDCATCHER – When questioned regarding the performance jockey R. Plumb explained that the gelding had worked well leading into the event however, he was very disappointed in its performance. He noted that the geldings form can be inconsistent. Trainer L. Kelly expressed his disappointment in the performance and added that he intended to add blinkers to the geldings gear and would continue with its current preparation. Stewards advised Mr Kelly to notify them should any abnormalities come to light in the following days.
 
COURAGE WITHIN – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 7: SKYPOINT OBSERVATION DECK Class 5 Handicap – 1200m
 
WALTHAM – Slow into stride.
 
SOFT TOP – Raced three wide without cover for the majority.
 
AMENZEL – Jockey R. Plumb reported to stewards that his mount put in a number of awkward strides throughout the event and he had concerns the gelding may have suffered an injury therefore he was reluctant to place the gelding under significant pressure in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame and short striding in both fore legs. Trainer L. Kelly was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the gelding racing again. Mr Kelly advised the gelding will be sent for an immediate spell.
 
 
Race 8: EXPERIENCE OZ Class 1 Handicap – 1200m
 
PORTUGUESE TART – Severely tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
 
ARTERIAL – Shortly after the start was bumped on the hind quarters and became unbalanced.
 
SMART AS ATTACK – Near the 1000m commenced to overrace and had to be restrained from heels. Then raced three wide without cover for the entire.
 
LE DRAMA – Overraced in the early stages. Passing the 200m was disappointed for a run and had to be steadied. Over the concluding stages had to be restrained when forced out across the heels of SO YOU WISH.
 
Jockey J. Bayliss (ROCK THE HOUSE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that approaching the winning post he permitted his mount to shift out under hard riding resulting in LE DRAMA being forced out across the heels of SO YOU WISH, and had to be restrained. Jockey Bayliss licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight (8) days to commence midnight 4 August 2018 and expire midnight 12 August 2018.
