SUPPLEMENTARY
 
From GCTC Official Barrier Trials 7 August 2018 – Heat 15 No. 6 – PUELLA suffered an injury to its off fore tendon. Trainer W King advised that it was his intention to now retire the mare from racing. Stewards advised Mr King that if the mare was to return to racing he would be required to provide a veterinary clearance.
 
RACE 1: Racing Awards Night 15 Aug QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 900m
1st: The Bumblebee 2nd: Derumor 3rd: Mishani Phantom 4th: Champagne Vega
 
Acting on veterinary advice, SINE CURVE was a late scratching at 11.25am.
 
LUCKY BEE - Slow into stride. Near the 800m had to be steadied when tightened for room between SUZI BEL and LILY AMORA (L Rolls) which shifted in abruptly. Jockey Rolls was issued with a reprimand. Near the 600m had to be steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of LILY AMORA which was inclined to lay in.
 
SUZI BEL - Slow into stride. Bumped on the hindquarters near the 800m.
 
CHAMPAGNE VEGA - Slow to begin.
 
BEST FOOT FORWARD - Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
Following the race Jockey P Hammersley complained of some leg soreness.
 
 
RACE 2: STA Travel BenhMark 60 Handicap – 900m
1st: Masondale 2nd: Dragon Street 3rd: Paroo River 4th: Clint
 
LIPS N HIPS - Began awkwardly and lost ground. Inconvenienced a short distance later.
 
NOBBYS GIFT - Leaving the 600m forced wider on the track when PUNDIT shifted out.
 
RACE 3: Flavour Asia BenchMark 65 Handicap – 1100m
1st: Magic Love 2nd: Our Rocky 3rd: Dansu 4th: Primed For Destiny
 
DANSU - Near the 800m when being restrained to obtain cover, commenced to over-race for a short distance. Jockey B Thornton reported at scale that his mount was inclined to hang out passing the 600m placing him at some disadvantage. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
RACE 4: Ric Dellosa Colour Printing Executive Maiden Handicap – 1200m
1st: I Dream of Green 2nd: Holbrook 3rd: Del Vega 4th: Fantastic Halo
 
Stewards accepted the explanation tendered for the late scratching of OMORFOS at 7.39am.
 
After being notified by Trainer P Duff that HEY DORIS would be late arriving on course due to transport difficulties, the mare underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
I DREAM OF GREEN - The start was delayed when the gelding cast an off fore plate and required the attention of the farrier. When questioned regarding the improved performance, stable representative advised that the gelding was first up today after winning a recent jump- out at Caloundra.  She also added that the improved performance could be attributed to the addition of blinkers on for the first time.
 
BLACK WAND which became fractious in the barriers was removed and examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.
 
SPLIT THE BILL – Stable advised that the instructions would be to attempt to gain a position with cover. Ridden accordingly. When afforded the opportunity to comment on the performance, Jockey M Hellyer stated that after having a favourable run throughout, the mare travelled well until placed under pressure and proved disappointing.
 
INKBLOT – After arriving late on the course, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. A swab sample was taken. Began awkwardly.
 
HOUSE ARREST - Began awkwardly and lost ground. Jockey L Rolls reported at scale that his mount did not feel comfortable in its action and therefore he was reluctant to place the gelding under pressure as he had concerns that it may have suffered an injury. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind leg. Trainer J Smerdon was advised that he must obtain a veterinary certificate of fitness before the geldings next race start.
 
LONG DRIVE - Began awkwardly and was then slow into stride. Near the 700m when racing ungenerously, shifted out and had to be restrained from heels. Hung out rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.  Trainer G Taylor was advised that a warning will be placed on the geldings racing manners.
 
HOLBROOK - Raced 3 wide without cover in the early stages, and then after passing the 800m was forced out to a 4 wide position.
 
FANTASTIC HALO - Passing the 800m commenced to over-race at the heels of I DREAM OF GREEN and shifted out and as a result raced 3 wide without cover from that point.
 
On returning to scale Jockey M Gray (DROPS OF JUPITER) was dislodged. Jockey Gray was subsequently examined by the ambulance officers and cleared of any injury.
 
RACE 5: Student Guild F&M Class 1 Handicap – 1400m
1st: Nashville Skyline 2nd: Mother to Race Her 3rd: Northern Divine 4th: Ivys Dream
 
Due to transport difficulties, SECRET SITES was a late scratching at 1.58pm.
 
MELANYA - Trainer B Dais advised Stewards that the instructions would be to obtain a position with cover. Ridden accordingly. Near the 500m shifted out and made contact with MOTHER TO RACE HER and had to be steadied.
 
QUESTIONS ANSWERED - Blundered at the start and lost ground.
 
NORTHERN DIVINE - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
MOTHER TO RACE HER - Raced wide throughout. Near the 500m bumped on the hindquarters.
 
RACE 6: Griffith University Class 2 Plate – 1800m
1st: Sir Barnabus 2nd: Clever Blaze 3rd: Namib 4th: Stellar Jewel
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow the rider and trainer of CYCLONE PATH to view the patrol films to ascertain whether the gelding was afforded a fair start.  After viewing the films they declined to proceed.
 
CYCLONE PATH - Stood flat-footed at the start and lost ground.
 
BLUE MONTE - Caught racing wide in the early stages and had to stride forward to assume the lead near the 1200m.
 
FUSI FOX - After leaving the 1400m commenced to race keenly and as a result was allowed to improve to a position outside the leader near the 1000m.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer J Perry was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness must be obtained before the geldings next race start.
 
DRAMATIC MOMENTS - Raced wide throughout.
 
SOLARCRAFT - Held up rounding the home turn.
 
SIR BARNABUS - Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages making slight contact with NAMIB.
 
NAMIB – Inconvenienced over the concluding stages.
 
RACE 7: Coca Cola Amatil Class 4 Handicap – 1400m
1st: I Like Candy 2nd: Wack Em 3rd: Partie Town 4th: Secret Code
 
As Jockey R Plumb was to be overweight, he was replaced on I LIKE CANDY by Jockey S Galloway. Due to Jockey Plumb being ill and stood down from yesterdays Ipswich meeting, Stewards accepted his explanation.
 
CAPPELLA MAGNA - Stable representative advised Stewards that the mare was to be ridden further back. Ridden accordingly, towards the rear of the field.
 
EL VENETIAN - Near the 800m commenced to over-race and shifted wider on the track and then raced 3 wide without cover from that point.
 
PARTIE TOWN - Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SHES CHOOSIE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the off fore leg. Trainer G Kilner was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced before the filly’s next race start. He advised that the filly would be sent for an immediate spell.
 
RACE 8: Personalised Vending C,G&E Class 1 Handicap – 1400m
1st: Airlie Man 2nd: Madison Point 3rd: Clairvue 4th: All Too Sweet
 
The start was significantly delayed when RED RIGHT OUT became fractious and broke through the front of the barriers and galloped for a considerable distance. RED RIGHT OUT was withdrawn by order of stewards at 4.46pm. All monies invested on RED RIGHT OUT were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and place-getters prior to 4.46pm:-

Trainer L Tipper was advised that RED RIGHT OUT must obtain a further barrier certificate before being permitted to race again.
 
The start was further delayed when AIRLIE MAN proved difficult to load. Trainer B Hill was advised that a warning would be placed against the geldings barrier manners. When questioned regarding the improved performance, Trainer B Hill explained that the gelding has only been in his stable for approximately 6 weeks and was having its first start for the stable.  In this time the gelding has trialled well and has performed well in its track work leading into todays event.
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow stewards the opportunity to view the start to ascertain whether WRAPPED had been afforded a fair start as the gelding refused to jump once the start was effected. After viewing the films in the presence of rider S Galloway and co-trainer P Balzen, stewards deemed that the gelding was afforded a fair start and therefore declared correct weight. Co-trainer P Balzen was advised that the gelding would be required to officially trial prior to its next start. Mr Balzen advised that the gelding would now be sent for a spell. 
 
REBEL SAGA - Commenced to over-race for a short distance approaching and passing the 900m.
 
ALL TOO SWEET – Briefly held up after passing the 400m.
