GENERAL:
 
As Jockey S Doyle was ill, replacements were made as per Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
 
RACE 1: Bartz Mobile Welding Class 1 Handicap
1st: Mr Dumont 2nd: Real Elusive 3rd: Ditzy Darci 4th: Bramwell
 
REAL ELUSIVE - Over-raced during the early stages. Upon straightening was held up and obliged to shift out to secure clear running leaving the 300m.
 
HOOVESGOTCHA - Raced wide during the early stages before obtaining a position outside the leader near the 1200m. A post-race veterinary examination of the mare which commenced to weaken leaving the 500m failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
DARESAY - Held up leaving the 200m and attempted to shift out to obtain a run between DITZY DARCI and REAL ELUSIVE approaching the 100m however, was disappointed for that run and was obliged to shift to the outside of REAL ELUSIVE to secure clear running over the final 50m.
 
ESCAPADO suffered a bleeding attack. As this was the second occasion, the gelding will no longer be permitted to race in Australia.
 
RACE 2: Pump It Maiden Handicap – 900m
1st: Big Arjay 2nd: Chinch 3rd: Fire Up Rosco 4th: Squall
 
SQUALL - Began awkwardly and lost ground. Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.
 
FIRE UP ROSCO - Hampered at the start. Over-raced during the early stages. Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.
 
COUNTLESS ROCK - Leaving the 400m hung out and away from FIRE UP ROSCO and bumped CHIAKI.
 
CHIAKI - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Bumped leaving the 400m.
 
RACE 3: Gold Coast Isuzu BM65 Handicap – 900m
1st: Star of Harada 2nd: Masondale 3rd: Licitra 4th: Dubawi Sniper
 
MASONDALE - Slow to begin. Had difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
LICITRA - Slow to begin. Jockey J Taylor dropped his whip leaving the 100m.
 
DUBAWI SNIPER - Near the 800m was eased when tightened for room. Upon return to scale Jockey A Allen reported that the gelding hung in during the early stages of the home straight and near the 300m when PRIDE OF DESTINY shifted out, he was unable to remain to the outside of that runner due to the racing manners of DUBAWI SNIPER. As a consequence he was obliged to shift back in to secure clear running over the final 200m. Near the 100m had to be eased away from the heels of HOLLYDEEN.
 
PRIDE OF DESTINY - Laid in during the early stages and was bumped by DRAGON STREET near the 800m.
 
HOLLYDEEN - Raced 3 wide without cover during the early and middle stages before obtaining a position outside the leader near the 500m.
 
DRAGON STREET – A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which broke down leaving the 600m revealed it to have fractured both sesamoids in the near fore leg and was subsequently euthanised on humane grounds. Routine blood and urine samples were taken from the gelding.
 
RACE 4: Bin It Now QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 1300m
1st: Ready Set Boom 2nd: Coastal Prince 3rd: Bullang 4th: Sir Husson
 
Due to transport difficulties Jockey G Colless was unable to fulfil his riding engagement. He was subsequently replaced on COASTAL PRINCE by Jockey M McGuren.
 
KNUCKLE UP - Slow to begin. When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey L Rolls stated that the colt failed to travel at any stage of the event and in his opinion was not suited by the removal of blinkers after its last start. Trainer K Schweida advised that the preferred option is to send the colt for an immediate spell.
 
SIR HUSSON - Began awkwardly.
 
FREEDOM FACTOR - Began awkwardly.
 
LOCUST - Raced wide during the early stages.
 
COASTAL PRINCE - Held up rounding the home turn.
 
SWOOP - Eased when placed in restricted room to the inside of JUST GIVEME RUBIES over the final 100m.
 
MISS FIALKA – When asked to comment on the performance, Jockey L Dittman stated that he was pleased with the way in which the filly finished off the race after he was obliged to settle further back than anticipated from todays barrier. Jockey Dittman was of the opinion that the filly would appreciate a step-up in distance.
 
RACE 5: Komatsu Maiden Handicap – 1400m
1st: Etikaal 2nd: Hermitage 3rd:Holbrook 4th: Jet Train
 
WU LONG SHI – Connections advised that it was the intention to have the gelding ridden further forward today. Slow to begin and as a consequence settled at the rear of the field.
 
ETIKAAL - Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
NO HAT NO PLAY – Near the 850m the gelding made contact with the running rail and then put in a very awkward stride resulting in App. J Grob being dislodged. App. Grob was attended to by QAS and cleared of any serious injuries however, was taken to Pindara Hospital for further observations. A post-race veterinary examination of NO HAT NO PLAY revealed superficial lacerations to the near fore leg.
 
SILENTUS - Slow to begin. Near the 850m was inconvenienced when avoiding the fallen rider. Near the 200m eased when tightened for room between ETIKAAL and DROPS OF JUPITER which shifted out.
 
ONE MAN GRAND - Hampered shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout.
 
SHINSTAR - Over-raced during the early stages. Bumped by NO HAT NO PLAY near the 850m.
 
JET TRAIN - Near the 850m had to be checked to avoid the heels of NO HAT NO PLAY.
 
MONROVIA - Near the 850m was inconvenienced by JET TRAIN and a short distance later was bumped by JET TRAIN and became unbalanced.
 
DINISTY - Near the 850m was inconvenienced when avoiding the fallen rider.
 
HOLBROOK - Near the 850m was inconvenienced when avoiding the fallen rider. Held up rounding the home turn and during the early stages of the home straight at which point it was disappointed for a run between SILENTUS and DROPS OF JUPITER. Approaching the 200m shifted in to obtain clear running and had to be steadied from the heels of CLICKETY CLICKS.
 
DROPS OF JUPITER - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
RACE 6: JR Stephens Class 5 Handicap – 1300m
1st: Legal Counsel 2nd: Scrabble 3rd: Excalibrator 4th: I Like Candy
 
As Jockey L Dittman was indisposed through illness, he was replaced on SNAPPER by Jockey A Spinks.
 
NORDIC SHOW underwent a veterinary examination after kicking out and getting a hind leg cast in the barriers. The mare was subsequently declared a late scratching at 3.38pm on veterinary advice. All monies invested on NORDIC SHOW were ordered to be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and place-getters prior to 3.38pm:-

SCRABBLE - Slow to begin. Leaving the 900m improved onto the heels of I LIKE CANDY and had to be steadied for some distance. Approaching the 100m was disappointed for a run between EXCALIBRATOR and LEGAL COUNSEL and was obliged to shift to the outside of LEGAL COUNSEL to maintain clear running.
 
I LIKE CANDY - Leaving the 900m improved onto the heels of EXCALIBRATOR and had to be steadied.
 
BIANTIC - Approaching the 800m improved onto the heels of UPSTART, shifted out and raced wide for the remainder of the event.
 
FELINO BEL - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
EXCALIBRATOR - Placed in restricted room to the inside of LEGAL COUNSEL between the 900m and 800m. Jockey A Fancourt (LEGAL COUNSEL) was reminded of her obligations to afford fellow runners more room. Near the 50m was steadied away from the heels of LEGAL COUNSEL.
 
UPSTART - A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer M Brosnan was of the opinion that the gelding is better suited on rain affected tracks.
 
 
RACE 7: Suez F&M Class 2 Handicap – 1200m
1st: Sky Lake 2nd: Cliodhna 3rd: Time to Play 4th: Time to Sail
 
CLIODHNA - Shifted its off hind plate in the parade yard. When attempting to re-plate the mare, it cast its near hind plate. As the mare could not be re-plated, Stewards permitted it to race with no hind plates. The mare underwent a veterinary examination prior to being loaded and was cleared to start.
 
TIME TO SAIL - Reared as the start was effected and lost ground.
 
ROSELLA GIRL - Slow to begin. Forced to race in restricted room in the early stages of the home straight before ultimately being steadied near the 200m when tightened for room between CAPA CAYLEE and TIME TO SAIL both of which shifted ground.
 
JESSINA - Slow to begin.
 
TIME TO PLAY - Bumped shortly after the start. Near the 500m bumped by MY DELILAH and became unbalanced for a short distance. Shifted in under pressure leaving the 200m. Cast its near fore plate in running.
 
HOT CHOICE - Bumped shortly after the start.
 
DANGER ANNIE - Approaching the 1100m was steadied when placed in restricted room between MY DELILAH and TIME TO PLAY both of which shifted ground. Near the 900m was steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of HOT CHOICE which laid in and away from CLIODHNA.
 
MY DELILAH – When questioned as to the performance, Jockey A Allen stated that the mare raced keenly in the early and middle stages as a result of TIME TO PLAY which was inclined to lay in and in doing so bumped MY DELILAH on a number of occasions. Nonetheless, Jockey Allen was disappointed with the mares failure to finish off the race over the final 400m and in his opinion was disappointing. Trainer B Lockwood indicated that he would step the mare up in distance and attempt to have it ridden with cover.
 
RACE 8: BMI C,G&E Class 2 Handicap – 1200m
1st: Ecker Road 2nd: Auerbach 3rd: Dynastic 4th: Cambodian Prince
 
TOO EASY BRO - Began awkwardly and bumped SOCIAL CONQUEST. Leaving the 1000m was steadied from the heels of CAMBODIAN PRINCE.
 
SOCIAL CONQUEST - Bumped at the start. Over-raced during the early and middle stages. Rounding the home turn shifted out in an effort to improve and bumped AUERBACH on a number of occasions.
 
AUERBACH - Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Bumped by SOCIAL CONQUEST on a number of occasions rounding the home turn.
 
ZOFF N OFF - Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
 
CRAZY POPS - Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
CAMBODIAN PRINCE - Approaching the 200m was obliged to alter course to the inside of ZOFF N OFF to secure clear running. Severely buffeted when tightened for room between DYNASTIC and ECKER ROAD over the concluding stages.
 
DYNASTIC – Bumped over the concluding stages.
 
Jockey M Palmer (ECKER ROAD) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) for permitting his mount to shift out over the concluding stages making heavy contact with CAMBODIAN PRINCE which in turn bumped DYNASTIC. Jockey M Palmer was suspended from riding in races for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 15/09/18 and to expire midnight 23/09/18.
