Race 1: In Memory of Charles Clout QTIS 3YO Maiden Plate – 1100m
 
The start time of this race was amended from 12.02 p.m. to 12 midday.
 
EMMABROOKE – Began awkwardly. Raced ungenerously in the early stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight proving difficult to ride.
 
NIKOHLI BEAGLE – Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight and shifted in near the 200m crowding MITHU, which was momentarily steadied. Shifted wider on the track over the concluding stages. Lost its off hind plate during running.
 
MITHU – Crowded for room near the 200m and was momentarily steadied.
 
HARD LABOUR – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
PETRALIA – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
CHEETAK – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
MISS BULITZ – Raced four wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
RIVER ROCKET – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
Jockey M. Cahill (HARD LABOUR) pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used excessive whip prior to the 100m. Jockey Cahill was fined $400.
 
Jockey N. Keal was examined by the QAS officers following his ride in this event and was subsequently stood down from his remaining riding engagements and replaced as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
 
Race 2: The Candy Man Maiden Plate – 1400m
 
TOP PASS was declared a late scratching at 9.10 a.m. acting on veterinary advice. Trainer M. Brosnan was advised that she must provide a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to it racing again.
 
FLAG RAISER – Shifted in at the start tightening the running of BEAUREGARD. Inconvenienced near the 100m and checked when tightened for room by WEKA PASS, which shifted out under pressure. Jockey J. Taylor (WEKA PASS) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift out under pressure leaving the 100m when not clear of FLAG RAISER, which had to be checked and shifted out making contact with the hind quarters of MAGNATE.  INCORRUPTIBILITY which was following had to be steadied to avoid the heels of MAGNATE. Jockey Taylor’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of seven (7) days to commence midnight 10 May 2020 and expire midnight 17 May 2020. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account Jockey Taylor’s exemplary record in regards to this Rule and his guilty plea.
 
BEAUREGARD – Tightened for room on jumping and shifted in inconveniencing a runner to its inside. Races wide for the majority of the race.
 
INCORRUPTIBILITY – Inconvenienced on jumping when tightened for room and lost ground. Restrained leaving the 100m to avoid the heels of MAGNATE, which shifted out when bumped.
 
TO DEM WITH LOVE – Slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
THE GOOD THE BAD – Slow to begin.
 
POSITIVE TENSION – Overraced in the early stages. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
WEKA PASS – Restrained near the 1200m and overraced for a short distance.
 
MAGNATE – Bumped heavily leaving the 100m by FLAG RAISER, which shifted out when being checked making heavy contact with its hind quarters.
 
TRADUCE – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
Race 3: The Lord Mayor Benchmark 78 Handicap – 900m
 
ELIXIR – Slow to begin. Laid out approaching the home turn.
 
GO DEEP – Slow to begin. Laid out leaving the 600m. Raced wide for the majority.
 
POWERFUL SAGA – Shifted in near the 150m forcing MISHANI ELECTRA in onto FLYING FROG, which became awkward on heels.
 
FLYING FROG – When attempting a run near the 150m was forced inwards becoming awkward on heels and having to be restrained.
 
MISHANI ELECTRA – Shifted in to obtain clear running and was checked near the 150m when tightened for room by POWERFUL SAGA, which shifted in simultaneously. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
Jockey J. Orman was examined by the QAS officers following his ride in this event and was subsequently stood down from his remaining riding engagements and replaced as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
 
Race 4: Stronger QTIS 2YO Handicap – 900m
 
As R. Wiggins was indisposed due to personal reasons Stewards permitted M. Du Plessis to be substituted as the rider of PALATE.
 
BYCULLA – After being fractious in its preliminary was examined by the veterinary surgeon behind the barriers and cleared to start. Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
SUNNY EKCELS – Slow to begin.
 
KABOOM – Slow to begin.
 
MISHANI FORTUNE – Slow to begin.
 
FOXY RIPPA – Began awkwardly.
 
YES YUP YAY – Laid out rounding the home turn forcing SPIRIT ONE wider.
 
SPIRIT ONE – Forced wider rounding the home turn. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
OUR STORMY GIRL – Laid in near the 100m having to be steadied.
 
 
Race 5: Winning Ways Benchmark 75 Handicap – 1800m
 
JOYMAKER – Slow to begin.
FAIRY ME HOME – Shifted in on jumping tightening a runner to its inside.
 
SEENTOOMANY – Tightened for room on jumping and lost ground.
 
GOLDEN LILY – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
JOLIETTE – Overraced in the early stages.
 
JARHEAD – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
KIRIANA – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
 
Race 6: Tycoon Ace Class 6 Handicap – 1400m
 
AQUA VITE – Connections advised the intention would be to ride the gelding more forward today if circumstances permit. The gelding was ridden accordingly.
 
PONYTALES – Slow to begin.
 
MARMARIS – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight.
 
DON’T LEAVE ME OUT – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
 
Race 7: Pennino QTIS 3YO Quality Handicap – 1400m
 
SPIRIT ESPRIT – Slow to begin. Jockey L. Cassidy was reminded of his obligations in relation to his use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
REAGAN’S MISTAKE – Began awkwardly.
 
LA TRIOLI – Raced wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
 
Race 8: Life Less Ordinary Open Handicap – 1300m
 
FIRSTHAND – Slow to begin. Bumped by another near the 200m.
 
COLPO DI TAMBURO – Shifted out approaching the 200m bumping FIRSTHAND.
 
 
Race 9: Demerara Benchmark 72 Handicap – 1200m
 
Trainer K. Schweida was fined $200 for the late declaration of J. Orman as the rider of RAMTASTIC.
 
Due to a misunderstanding App C. Bayliss was unable to attend today’s meeting and as no other apprentice was available Stewards permitted W. O’Connell to be substituted as the rider of SIR MAGIC.
 
FEW TOO MANY – Began awkwardly.
 
MY BELLY BUTTON – Began awkwardly.
 
SHIJIN – Checked near the 800m and lost ground when tightened for room and momentarily shifted wider. App A. Thompson (STELLAR POWER) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that near the 800m he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in when insufficiently clear of SHIJINZ (App M. Wishart). App A. Thompson’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight (8) days to commence midnight 17 May 2020 and expire midnight 25 May 2020. Stewards deemed this incident in the low range.
 
STELLAR POWER – Shifted in near the 800m tightening the running of SHIJIN.
 
SIR MAGIC – Had difficulty obtaining clear running from the 300m until approaching the 100m.
 
WILL’S BID – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
