On returning to scale, jockey D. McMaster reported the gelding, which was racing with blinkers for the first time, raced greenly throughout the event.

BROOKLYN BOY – Fractious in the barriers. Trailed the field throughout. Jockey T. Chambers reported the gelding did not travel comfortably at any stage, and in her opinion did not handle the high temperature and heavy track at today’s meeting. Trainer’s representative J. Baker advised the gelding would now be sent for spell.

JEDDA’S GIRL – Shifted out near the 50m to obtain clear running.

MELLORE – Bumped at the start, then shifted out.

BAIO – Tightened for room shortly after the start. Inclined to lay out under pressure in the home straight.

RACE 5: O’SHEAS ROYAL HOTEL ST MARYS CUP BENCHMARK 70 H'CAP – 1000M

SUIT – On arriving on course, trainer’s representative J. Baker advised the gelding had become fractious in the float and struck its head. SUIT was subsequently examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.

CELESTIAL DRAGON – Bumped another runner at the start.

CWMBRAN – Began awkwardly with its head in the air. Bumped by another runner at the start. When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer B. Waldron advised that the gelding races well first up following a spell, and has previously raced well on wet tracks. Stewards noted the explanation.
