GENERAL
Due to inclement weather predicted, Stewards altered the race program times and ran races 2, 3, 4 and 5 earlier to ensure completion of the meeting.
Race 1: GYMPIE MOTOR GROUP SUBARU HYBRID Maiden Plate 1170m
THE ORANGE MUPPET – Began awkward and shifted out abruptly taking DATAI out onto MS ORBITAL SPIRIT resulting in MS ORBITAL SPIRIT being crowded losing considerable ground.
CAMPUS BELL – Slow to begin.
MS ORBITAL SPIRIT – Lost considerable ground shortly after the start when crowded for room. Raced wide rounding the home turn.
LITTLE MISS ADDI – Jockey S. Sweeney reported the filly resented the kickback.
DATAI – Jockey M. Crawford was reprimanded under AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for excessive use of the whip.
Race 2: G.J. GARDNER HOMES GYMPIE Class B Handicap 1170m
MOMENTUM GLORY – Bumped at the start, raced wide the entire.
ANGEL OF LEON – Saddle shifted shortly after the start.
ROCKSHORE – Raced 3 wide the entire.
MISTA MAYBE – Placed in restricted room passing the 600m for a short distance and had to be momentarily steadied, raced wide for the majority. Jockey R Faehr was fined $100 under AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
JESSINA - Returned to scale with blood in its nearside nostril. Trainer J. Walk was advised the mare must gallop 1000m in the presence of a steward prior to racing again - AR79(8).
Jockey K.Gates was fined $200 under AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
Race 3: HARVEY NORMAN ELECTRICAL BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 850m
GYPSEY TAP – As the start was affected sat back on the gates, which resulted in the mare being slowly away.
CHEVYS DESIRE – Slow to begin.
MISS ZINZIN – Leaving the 500m the saddle shifted placing its rider at a disadvantage.
MAGIC PANTHER – Raced wide the entire.
FIRST BID – Raced wide the entire.
STAR PAINTER - Raced wide the entire. Trainer K Afford was fined $100 under AR 106(1) for negligence in saddling in that he presented STAR PAINTER to the saddling enclosure without its lead bag. In assessing penalty stewards took into account Mr Afford’s immediate admissions, forthright evidence, his guilty plea and good record regarding breaches of this rule.
Race 4: COOLOOLA FOOD SERVICE BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1030m
WALSHIE – Blundered shortly after the start and lost ground.
SIP SIP SIP – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
HOURGLASS TIME – Slow to begin.
EIGHT OVER – Raced 3 wide until the 350m.
Race 5: THE PUMP HOUSE BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1470M
ELUSIVE ELEMENT – Slow to begin, caught wide until the 850m.
IF BY CHANCE – Slow to begin, raced wide the entire.
STORMBORN ANGEL – Rider reported the mare didn’t handle the track conditions.
