SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
From Doomben Saturday 12 May 2018 – Race 7: Trainer D. Forster advised that following the disappointing performance of RUBY RED HEART, the filly underwent an endoscopic examination which did not reveal any abnormalities. Ms Forster stated she was advised that the filly may have choked down. She said that she would continue with the filly’s current campaign, however will consider adding a tongue tie to the horse’s gear at its next start and will drop it back in class and distance.
 
Race 1: CUB SUPPORTS IPSWICH RACING MUSEUM QTIS 3YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1010M
 
GOLD SUN – Slow into stride. Crowded slightly near the 500m.
 
LYTAFYRE – Slow into stride.
 
RIVER FLYER – Overraced in the middle stages. Had difficulty securing clear running over the final 100m and was unable to be fully tested.
 
INDY BONBON – Raced three wide without cover. A. Spinks reported he was of the opinion that his mount got its tongue over the bit.
 
TEKKEN WARRIOR – Slow into stride.
 
Race 2: J & L MACHINING MAIDEN H'CAP – 1690M
 
NEVER IN DOUBT – Overraced in the early stages.
 
SLAUGHTER BAY – Slow to begin. Had difficulty obtaining clear running for a short distance after straightening.
 
COUNTESS NATALIE – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Hung in in the straight.
 
ROCKING OSSIE – Slow to begin.
 
CORSINI – Held up and was then checked on straightening when crowded for room.
 
Race 3: ONLINE HOCKEY SHOP QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
 
The start was delayed when the bridle on MAGIC FOX became displaced and had to be refitted.
 
MAGIC FOX – Raced three wide without cover.
 
MAGIC MYSTERY – Slow into stride. M. McGillivray reported that his mount was making an abnormal respiratory noise. Trainer T. Edmonds was advised that he will be required to produce a veterinary clearance, including the results of an endoscopic examination, prior to the horse racing again.
 
REALLY SPLENDID – Slow into stride.
 
SECRET SPIRIT – Laid in in the straight.
 
BELLE OF CADIZ – Raced three wide throughout.
 
KATY BOOM – Inconvenienced slightly near the 1000m. D. Griffin reported that his filly was reluctant to stretch out and in his opinion may have been shin sore. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off hind leg. Trainer H. Page was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
Race 4: GAV’S GLASS/HUMPREYS ADVISORY QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
 
MACEWEN, which dislodged S. Cormack whilst proceeding to the barriers, was declared a late scratching at 2:05 pm. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on MACEWEN be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 2:05 pm:
 
6 cents in the dollar for the win #10
5 cents in the dollar for place of winner #10
13 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #5
8 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #7
 
As S. Cormack sustained a significant knee injury and was transported to hospital, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Due to the delay in awaiting the arrival of a replacement ambulance, the starting times of Races 4 to 7 were put back one race time, with Race 8 rescheduled to 4:56 pm.
 
AWESOME MO – Slow to begin. Lost the off hind plate in running.
 
BIG ARJAY – Laid in in the straight.
 
HILLSMAN – The veterinary surgeon reported that the gelding had sustained a laceration to the off hind coronet.
 
PEPPI LA FEW – Slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 5: NETTY ELLIOTT FLIGHT CENTRE CRUISE MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
 
GREYNOMAD – Bumped heavily after being slightly slow to begin.
 
THE IRONS – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
IT’SGLORIAMA – Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
PIN DE LADY – Steadied near the 1100m after being hampered and crowded for room. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
FLYING DEE JAY – Slow into stride. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be exhibiting an abnormal upper respiratory tract noise. Trainer C. Munce was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
Race 6: BRIELLA BEAUTIFUL/RDH SERVICES CLASS 3 H'CAP – 1350M
 
AANVOERDER – Raced three wide without cover.
 
BRONZEGATE – Slow to begin.
 
DANSEZ – J. Lloyd explained that joining the course proper he was racing tight and he was aware that in previous starts the horse has shown an inclination to overrace when urged along. He said with this in mind and with runners to the outside of him, joining the course proper he was concerned with the position he was in and rather than maintain that spot he took the option to steady slightly to allow himself safe racing room.
 
SIR NEMO – Slow to begin.
 
GOLDEN SUNSET – Overraced in the early stages.
 
Race 7: THE MCMANUS FAMILY CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1200M
 
DOCTOR ON ICE – Raced three wide without cover.
 
ALL IMPORTANT – Brushed by I REMEMBER YOU near the 50m. B. Stewart viewed the replay and chose not to lodge a protest.
 
I REMEMBER YOU – Trainer B. Laming advised that from the better barrier today it would be the intention to have the horse ridden on the pace. The horse raced in the lead.
 
VIVID PINK – Slow into stride.
 
FLINDERS DRAGON – Steadied near the 100m when crowded for room by HAND OF FAITH, which was taken in by OLD TRIESTE, which shifted in and away from DOCTOR ON ICE. Apprentice C. Gallagher, the rider of DOCTOR ON ICE, was advised to exercise more care.
 
LAKOUDIS – Bled from both nostrils, 1st time. Ineligible to start for 3 months and prior to racing again must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward.
 
FORDYCE KNIGHT – Raced four wide without cover.
 
Race 8: CARLTON MID BENCHMARK 65 H'CAP – 1690M
 
WHO’S YOUR DADDY – Refused to jump and took no part in the race. Trainer J. Wallace was advised that as the horse has offended previously it would be required to compete satisfactorily in two consecutive official barrier trials before being permitted to race again.
 
HEAT SHIELD – Shifted out under pressure in the straight and near the 150m was steadied away from heels.
 
TOPENDING – Slow to muster speed and then shortly after was inconvenienced when crowded slightly.
 
REAL PRINCESS – Slow into stride.
 
SCARLETT HUSSIE – Broke through its barrier prior to the start, was quickly restrained, inspected by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to race. Hung in in the straight.
