GENERAL
 
As G. Colless was ill and M. McNab was injured, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Race 1: FOLLOW US @IPSWICHTURFCLUB C,G&E CLASS 3 PLATE – 1100M
 
MR STRACHAN – Began awkwardly and laid out in the early stages and then continued to hang out for the remainder of the event.
 
CAPITAL CONNECTION – Began awkwardly and was hampered between runners shortly after.
 
Race 2: CARLTON MID MAIDEN H'CAP – 1350M
 
CHOCOLATE SHOP – Slightly hampered shortly after the start and became unbalanced when bumped. Slightly inconvenienced approaching the 1250m when cramped for room to the inside of STAR STRUCKED, which laid in for a short distance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer K. Jones was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare for its poor performance.
 
CLOWN IN THE MOON – Proved difficult to load, delaying the start. Trainer M. Hemmings was advised that a warning would be placed against the mare. Began awkwardly and shifted in. Overraced whilst leading.
 
MISS SHANIEL – Clipped heels and blundered shortly after the start.
 
Race 3: SIRROMET QTIS 2YO MAIDEN PLATE – 1350M
 
ENTERPRISE JACK – Commenced to overrace when the pace slackened passing the 900m and had to be restrained away from heels on a number of occasions.
 
RICH AND RECKLESS – Had to be checked and lost its rightful running passing the 300m when cramped for racing room by JUDGE JUDY, which shifted out. T. Brooker, the rider of JUDGE JUDY, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that passing the 300m she failed to make sufficient effort to prevent her mount from shifting out and causing the interference to RICH AND RECKLESS. Jockey Brooker’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 9 days, to commence at midnight on Saturday 7 July and expire at midnight on Monday 16 July 2018. In determining penalty, stewards deemed the interference to be in the low to mid range and took into account jockey Brooker’s guilty plea.
 
COCO FASHION – Held up passing the 400m.
 
JUDGE JUDY – After beginning awkwardly and being caught three wide in the early stages, was allowed to stride forward to obtain a position outside the leader passing the 700m. Raced greenly after passing the 600m and had a tendency to lay out and continued to race greenly for the remainder of the event.
 
JUSTDINI – Tightened between runners and lost some ground on jumping.
 
VANDALUSCIOUS – Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room approaching the 400m to the outside of RICH AND RECKLESS and to the inside of JUSTDINI, which shifted in slightly. Bumped and became unbalanced passing the 300m when JUDGE JUDY shifted out.
 
Race 4: BOOK YOUR ITC FUNCTION MAIDEN H'CAP – 1666M
 
AMERICAN ENEMY – After being caught wide in the run to the first turn was allowed to stride forward to obtain the lead passing the 1200m.
 
RELIABLE LASS – Shifted three wide when the pace slackened after passing the 1000m and raced wide without cover from that point on.
 
CLEAR SAILING – Slow into stride.
 
SIR PLUCKA – Had to be restrained from the heels of WE’RE ALL EARS which shifted out passing the 1100m. Had a tendency to lay in in the early part of the home straight.
 
WE’RE ALL EARS – Commenced to overrace passing the 1100m and shifted out.
 
Race 5: SCHWEPPES F&M CLASS 3 PLATE – 1100M
 
The start of this race was significantly delayed when LA SCOPA and DELAGO THUNDER proved difficult to load. Trainer M. Dunn’s representative was advised that LA SCOPA will be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again. Subject to any further submissions from trainer D. Joice, DELAGO THUNDER will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to being permitted to race again.
 
DELAGO THUNDER – Slow to begin.
 
Race 6: CHANNEL 7 QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H'CAP – 1350M
 
FISH ON – Tightened for room shortly after the start when EPIC PIPER laid in. Raced three wide with cover from the 900m.
 
JOEL – Bumped on jumping.
 
NO CRYSTAL BALL – Tightened for room shortly after the start when EPIC PIPER laid in.
 
NOWISEVERYTHING – Hung out from the 500m.
 
LOLA’S DIAMOND – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost considerable ground. Trainer K. Schweida advised that the filly will now be sent for a spell. Stewards advised Mr Schweida that the filly would require a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
 
SATURN OPS – Laid in over the final 100m, causing its rider to stop riding. Returned to the enclosure with blood in its mouth, which trainer L. Ross subsequently reported had been caused by the horse’s tongue tie.
 
SECRET AGENT MAN – Laid out rounding the home turn and shifted out under riding in the home straight. Bumped slightly passing the 50m.
 
EPIC PIPER – Raced three wide with cover.
 
STYLISH LOVER – Raced three wide without cover.
 
TOP GLAMOUR – Began awkwardly.
 
PLATINUM HAWK – Connections advised that the horse would be ridden quieter today. The horse was ridden accordingly.
 
Race 7: WORK THEN RELAX AT ITC RATINGS BAND 0 – 75 H'CAP – 1350M
 
RIDEONABIGJETPLANE – Held up and became awkwardly placed at the heels of BIANTIC upon straightening when attempting to shift wider to secure clear running.
 
REAL EGO – Began awkwardly. Bumped with CAPELLA MAGNA approaching the 400m. Slightly held up rounding the home turn. Had to be steadied passing the 200m and had some difficulty obtaining clear running.
 
MR MARKOU – Hampered between runners shortly after the start. Commenced to overrace passing the 800m and was shifted three wide without cover to improve.
 
CHAPPO – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
CAPELLA MAGNA – Overraced in the middle stages. Bumped with REAL EGO approaching the 400m.
 
NIGHT ATTIRE – Bumped on jumping.
 
Race 8: RAY WHITE IPSWICH CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1350M
 
The declaration of correct weight was delayed when R. Wiggins, the rider, and G.
Doughty, the trainer of NATURAL FORCE viewed the stewards’ patrol footage to determine whether there were grounds on which to lodge an objection against the winner SCALLOPINI. After viewing the videos, they indicated that they did not wish to lodge an objection.
 
SCALLOPINI – Raced three wide without cover after passing the 1000m and commenced to overrace and got its head up on a number of occasions. Shifted ground over the final 150m. Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
JONZALI – Overraced in the early stages and had to be checked away from heels and shifted out.
 
NATURAL FORCE – Had to be restrained from heels approaching the 800m. Slightly impeded and had to shift to the outside of the heels of SCALLOPINI approaching the 100m.
 
LADY EIGHTY EIGHT – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost considerable ground.
 
MONACO SNOB – Crowded for room passing the 1200m when JONZALI hung in despite the efforts of its rider. Apprentice M. Murphy was fined $200 for weighing in in excess of half a kilogram over his declared weight.
 
WEEKEND SAGA – Bumped heavily passing the 1000m.
 
SWISS LOVE – Crowded for room passing the 1200m when JONZALI hung in despite the efforts of its rider.
 
Race 9: THE QLD TIMES BENCHMARK 65 H'CAP – 1666M
 
RED MAKO – R. Stewart explained that he was slightly disappointed with the performance of his mount, however he attributed this to the prevailing track conditions. Trainer T. Sears advised stewards that in light of today’s performance he would contemplate sending the filly for a spell.
 
PRINCELY SUM – Overraced in the early and middle stages and had to be restrained from heels on a number of occasions.
 
MR BOOMBASTIC – Slow to begin.
 
STELLAR JEWEL – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages. Shifted three wide passing the 1200m and was allowed to improve to obtain a position outside the leader at the 800m.
