The start of this race was delayed approximately 8 minutes when CLIODHNA had to be reshod.

JINX ‘N’ DRINX – Bumped at the start. Stewards questioned apprentice C. Frater-Hill in respect to the tactics adopted on the mare whereby it settled further back in the field than anticipated and further with respect to its overall performance. Apprentice Frater-Hill advised that her instructions were, if possible, to obtain a forward position, however connections also gave her the option to settle further back in the field if it was apparent in the early stages from the wide barrier that she was going to be caught racing wide on the track. She added that after being buffeted at the start she formed the view that she would have insufficient speed to cross the runners to her inside and for that reason took the option to restrain to a rearward position to avoid being trapped wide. With respect to the mare’s overall performance, apprentice Frater-Hill advised that when placed under pressure the mare failed to respond to her riding and was somewhat disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards intend to interview trainer J. Phelan at a later date to confirm the instructions and seek a comment on the performance.
