Race 3: MINERS FEDERATION LABOUR DAY 2020 MAIDEN PLATE – 800M

The start of this race was delayed by 3 minutes when SACRED STONE dislodged its rider en route to the barriers, galloped riderless for a considerable distance and made contact with the running rail before being recaptured. The filly was subsequently declared a late scratching by Stewards at 2.10pm. In this incident, jockey J. Taylor sustained a seemingly harmless fall and was cleared of any injury. On the announcement of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested on SACRED STONE be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

46 cents in the dollar for the Win #8
35 cents in the dollar for place of winner #8
23 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #5
30 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #10

The filly, which sustained a laceration to its off hind hindquarters, was treated by the on course veterinary surgeon before being transported to Anstead Veterinary Hospital for further treatment. Co-trainers B. and D. Guy were advised that the filly will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
