On return to scale a protest was lodged by Jockey S. Bogenhuber, rider of the 2nd placegetter, Shadyvale Star, against Love You Lucy being declared the winner, alleging interference over the last 100m.  Stewards after hearing evidence were not satisfied that any interference suffered to Shadyvale Star would warrant a reversal of placings and dismissed the objection and declared correct weight.

FLIRTY MCCOY – Slowly away.

TRU BLU TANGO – Slowly away. Steadied from heels near 900m and made heavy contact with the running rail near the 600m. Raced greenly throughout.

FAVOR OF GOD – Raced 3 wide throughout.

Race 2:   Searle Family Kilcoy Able Seaman B.P. Pelgrave (RAN) Maiden Plate – 1060m

LUCKY’S LIL GIRL – Forced wider near the 850m and lost ground.

HALFBACK BAZ – Near the 850m raced greenly and shifted ground, causing a tightening to other runners.  Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on it  regarding its racing manners.

CRUZ DE VEGA:  Forced wider on the course near the 1200m Stewards questioned jockey R. Williams regarding her riding, in particular in the first 200m of the event.  Miss Williams explained that her instructions were to settle in a handy position. She also  added that whilst jumping well, she was mindful of being caught wide going into the first turn as runners inside her were also progressing forward.  Jockey Williams then preferred to look and try and find a position closer to the rails rather than riding forward, then after being hampered rounding the first turn was then obliged to race in a rearward position.  Stewards, after considering Miss Williams’ ride, noted her explanation.
