Race 1: KILCOY GIFT PRO SPRINT AUSTRALIA DAY MAIDEN H'CAP – 1200M
 
INTERFLORA EXPRESS, which became fractious in the barriers, reared and made significant contact with the barrier partition, was declared a late scratching at 12:39 pm on veterinary advice. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on INTERFLORA EXPRESS be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 12:39 pm:
 
0 cents in the dollar for the win #7
1 cent in the dollar for place of winner #7
2 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #10
1 cent in the dollar for 3rd place #1
 
Following the event the veterinary surgeon reported that the horse had fractured its right eye socket and was treated on course. Connections were advised that the horse would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
DENCH – Commenced to overrace approaching the 800m and was steadied.
 
STRATA KING – The veterinary surgeon reported that the gelding was suffering from heat stress post-race.
 
TENKAYE – Placed in restricted room and steadied approaching the 900m when CYCLONE MIA shifted in momentarily. Had to be steadied approaching the 800m when placed in restricted room between LITTLE ALBERT, which shifted out, and CLAIRVUE SPIRIT, which shifted in. N. Thomas, the rider of CLAIRVUE SPIRIT, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
FLEUR DE JOUR – Jumped awkwardly. Shifted out shortly after the start, making contact with CYCLONE MIA.
 
REG ‘N’ KATH – Reared as the start was effected, dislodging its rider.
 
CLAIRVUE SPIRIT – Jumped awkwardly and was buffeted between runners.
 
CYCLONE MIA – Bumped shortly after the start. Raced three wide for the majority of the event.
 
LITTLE ALBERT – Commenced to overrace approaching the 800m, steadied from the heels of DENCH and shifted wider. Held up for clear running from approaching the 400m until a point passing the 200m.
 
Race 2: THANKS BOB BAIN & SOMERSET REGIONAL COUNCIL QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H'CAP – 1200M
 
DON’T STOP – Jumped awkwardly. Made the turn approaching the 800m awkwardly and shifted out momentarily. Shifted wider to obtain clear running rounding the home turn.
 
JUST LIKE RULER – Jumped awkwardly.
 
AFTER THE STORM – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
CURRY CONNECTION – Jumped awkwardly.
 
DEE DAY DIVA – Steadied from the heels of SHELLONA BEACH when the pace slackened approaching the 900m. Made the home turn awkwardly.
 
SHELLONA BEACH – Shifted out momentarily by another runner approaching the 800m.
 
Race 3: KILCOY RACES AUSTRALIA DAY FAMILY FUN MAIDEN H'CAP – 800M
 
MISS CRUISEY was a late scratching at 8:52 am for veterinary reasons.
 
The start of this race was delayed when ASIAN BEAUTY proved difficult to load.
 
FLYING EDDIE – Tightened between runners on jumping.
 
MACKENZIE COUNTRY – Raced wide throughout.
 
ASIAN BEAUTY – Proved difficult to load. Trainer B. Phillips was advised that the mare must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next start. Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and made heavy contact with SOMEBODY’S GIRL, which shifted out. Raced wide throughout.
 
THAT’S A WRAP – Tightened between runners upon jumping and lost ground.
 
ENCUMBERED SOUL – Tightened between runners on jumping. Commenced to overrace for a short distance approaching the 500m.
 
RHETORICAL – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out.
 
MARREW RONNIE – Rider K. Gates was harmlessly dislodged after leaving the enclosure. Raced wide throughout.
 
SOMEBODY’S GIRL – As G. Colless was unable to fulfil his engagement due to transport difficulties, G. Geran was substituted as the rider of the filly. Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 4: TAB RATINGS BAND 0 – 62 H'CAP – 800M
 
SEEYARON – Bumped by another runner on jumping.
 
DAVE’S VALOR – Raced three wide throughout. Carried wider rounding the home turn.
 
AT DUSK – Raced four wide throughout.
 
MAGIC DESERT MOON – Knuckled on jumping.
 
WESTOVER – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out. Made the home turn awkwardly and shifted out, carrying DAVE’S VALOR wider.
 
SHE’S A MITZY – Tightened between runners shortly after jumping.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to GOOD 3.
 
Race 5: KILCOY RACE CLUB NEW YEAR CUP CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1900M
 
RISEUPSKATING, which sustained an injury to the left tendon, was declared a late scratching at 2:13 pm on veterinary advice.
 
FRUEDINKS – Improved on to the heels of WICKED HEIGHTS approaching the 1200m and shifted wider.
 
REPULSE – Raced wide until a point passing the 1200m.
 
JONDY QUALO – Rider H. Phillips reported that her mount became awkward in its stride near the 800m where she believed the track surface may have been uneven.
 
MISHANI RECKONING – Jumped awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with ROCK DANCER.
 
MODERNISTIC – Made contact with the running rail approaching the 400m.
 
WICKED HEIGHTS – Jumped awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
ROCK DANCER – Bumped and blundered shortly after the start. Shifted wider on the track by FRUEDINKS approaching the 1200m after which the rider elected to improve forward and race three wide for the remainder of the event.
 
YOUL BEATEM – Slow to begin.
 
Following a report by rider H. Phillips regarding the surface of the track near the 800m, the starter and track staff inspected the section of the track between the 800m and the 600m and carried out remedial works. These remedial works remained in place for the duration of the meeting.
 
Race 6: KILCOY EXCHANGE HOTEL CLASS 3 H'CAP – 1060M
 
The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow connections of 4th placegetter HAUTCLERE to view the stewards’ patrol footage to determine whether there were grounds on which to lodge an objection against 3rd placegetter FORGOTTEN FEELING.
 
The start of this race was delayed when REMEMBER MARY and QUART POT proved difficult to load.
 
HAUTCLERE – Buffeted between runners on jumping. Forced wider near the 600m and raced wide for the remainder of the event.
 
REMEMBER MARY – Proved difficult to load.
 
QUART POT – Proved difficult to load. Shifted out shortly after the start. Made the home turn very awkwardly and shifted wider on the course.
 
BEST OF US – The nasal strip was removed on arrival at the barriers after becoming loose whilst the horse was parading to the barriers. Buffeted between runners on jumping.
 
FORGOTTEN FEELING – Jumped very awkwardly and shifted in abruptly, causing interference to other runners to the inside. Made contact with the running rail approaching the 100m.
 
WILD ELEMENT – Jumped awkwardly.
 
AIRPORT – Slow into stride.
 
Race 7: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS WELCOME 2020 RATINGS BAND 0 – 62 H'CAP – 1200M
 
NASTY GAL, which was injured en route to the course, was a late scratching at 1:38 pm. Connections were advised that the horse would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
DANSU – Steadied away from the heels of HONOUR PROMISE approaching the 1000m and became momentarily unbalanced. Raced three wide without cover.
 
BOUNTY HUNTER – Raced three wide with cover.
 
HARD YAGA – Steadied away from the heels of DANSU approaching the 1000m and commenced to race with its head in the air for a short distance. Raced three wide with cover.
 
JUNCTION – Jumped awkwardly. Placed in restricted room approaching the 700m and raced ungenerously for a short distance. Held up approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
TURBO TEDDY – Severely checked and lost its position approaching the 1000m when crowded for room by OKANAGAN MISS, which was inconvenienced by DRIFTER, which was taken in by HONOUR PROMISE. Jockey G. Geran, the rider of HONOUR PROMISE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that he failed to make sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in at that point. Jockey Geran’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 10 days, commencing midnight Sunday 12 January and expiring midnight Wednesday 22 January 2020.
 
HARDLY TOUCHED – Raced four wide without cover in the early stages before obtaining three-wide cover near the 800m.
 
KING ALFONSO – Jumped awkwardly.
 
HONOUR PROMISE – Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with COURT RULES. Shifted in approaching the 1000m, inconveniencing runners to the inside.
 
OKANAGAN MISS – Inconvenienced approaching the 1000m and carried in on to another runner.
 
COURT RULES – Bumped by another runner on jumping.
 
DRIFTER – Crowded for room approaching the 1000m and taken in on to OKANAGAN MISS, which in turn was inconvenienced and carried in on to TURBO TEDDY, which was severely checked and lost its position.
 
Race 8: SEARLE FAMILY KILCOY NEW YEAR GIFT BENCHMARK 65 H'CAP – 1500M
 
Stewards intend to inquire into the circumstances surrounding the variance in starting time for this event in some publications.
 
BEL BEAU – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
ZOFF ‘N’ OFF – Appeared to lose its footing on jumping, momentarily unbalancing its rider.
 
GRANDIOSO – Bumped on jumping. Whilst improving into a narrow run to the inside of RED BALTER approaching the 1000m, was disappointed and steadied when that runner shifted in momentarily. Disappointed for a run rounding the home turn to the outside of AMERICAN SUMMER, which shifted out, and FORT MYER, which shifted in momentarily and had to be steadied.
