As L. Tilley was to be overweight in races 1, 4, 5, 6, riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet. Jockey Tilley was suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 Days, to commence at midnight, 5 February and to expire at midnight, 12 February. In Assessing penalty, stewards took into account jockey Tilley’s extremely poor record in relation to overweight offences.

Race 1: Kilcoy Exchange Hotel Class 4 H’cap – 1060m
YOUR OPTION – Jumped very awkwardly resulting in the saddle slipping badly to the nearside.
As a result of this jockey Cheshire was placed at a severe disadvantage and positioned her horse wider on the track and approaching the 400m was eased down as a result.
IGNITE THE LIGHT – Slow to begin. Placed in restricted room leaving the 900m and had to
be restriained when CHAMBERLAIN shifted in. As a rsult of this incident, jockey H. Phillips,
rider of CHAMBERLAIN, was reprimanded.
CHAMBERLAIN – Slow to begin.
CHOCOLATE OREO – Approaching the 800m was obliged to check when placed in restricted
room between ALEJANDRA, which shifted in, ,and CHAMBERLAIN, which shifted out. Both
jockey C. Eaton, rider of ALEJANDRA, and H. Phillips, rider of CHAMBERLAIN, were advised to
exercise more care in similar circumstances.
THE BUMBLEBEE – Raced wide during the early stages.
ALEJANDRA – Raced wide without cover.
Race 2: Kilcoy Global Foods Class 1 H’cap – 1200m
SILK TOPPER – Slow to begin. Returned to scale with blood in both nostrils. Connections were advised that the horse would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months, and must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop before stewards prior to racing again. Slow to begin
BROOKER AVENUE – Slow to begin.
SET TO SIZZLE – Slow to begin. Had to be restrained from heels near the 900m. Jockey Tomizawa was asked to comment on the performance. He stated he had been instructed to ride forward from the wide alley, however after being slow to begin was obliged to settle the horse in a position in the second half of the field. He added that the horse was bumped by other runners at various points during the race and he did not feel that the horse travelled comfortably on the tight racing circuit. A post race veterinary examination revealed soreness across the back. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be supplied prior to the horse racing again.
BLAZING HARADA – Hung out and did not stretch out over the final 200m. A post race veterinary examination found the horse to have suffered a laceration and bruising to the heel of the near fore and also lost its off hind plate, which also resulted in a portion of the horse’s hoof being removed. Trainer J. Dixon indicated the horse would now be sent for a spell following this injury. Stewards advised Mr Dixon that if he does not spell the horse he would be required to provide a veterinary certificate prior to the horse’s next race start.
TARIO TARIO – Jockey C. Eaton reported her mount failed to handle the soft racing conditions.
Race 3: TAB Class 1 Plate – 800m
PULLA SWIFTY – Made contact with the enclosure fence and was cleared to start. Declared a late scratching at 2.49 pm with the following deductions applicable.

2 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets for the place
4 cents in the dollar on the face value 2nd place bets
2 cents in the dollar on the face value 3rd place bets
Connections of PULLA SWIFTY, were advised that they must obtain a further barrier certificate for the mare prior to starting again.
OUR BOY BORRIS – Tightened for room on jumping away and lost ground.
CORAJILLO – Hung badly from the 400m until entering the home straight.
SERTIN – Placed in restricted room after passing the 400m and had to be steadied near the 300m. A post race veterinary examination of the gelding, which attempted to jump the crossing after the passing the winning post revealed no abnormalities.
MISS MAKEPEACE – Hung out for the majority of the race.
Race 4: Somerset Regional Council Maiden H’cap – 1060m
ENRAGED – Underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was cleared to start.
BEGIN - A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from moderate heat stress.
ARCING HARD – Steadied when tightened near the 900m. Bumped by another runner near the 850m and became awkward. Shortly afterwards slipped and blundered, losing significant ground. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had sustained a minor laceration to the heel bulb of he off foreleg.
PLUCK A WINNER - Tightened for room and lost ground at the start. Tightened for roo near the 900m and had to be steadied when placed in restricted room to the inside of ARCING HARD, which shifted in as a result of steading when tightened to the inside of BEACH CLUB, which shifted in. Stewards issued a severe reprimand to apprentice S. Wilcock, rider of BEACH CLUB, which shifted in when not fully clear.
BEGIN – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
BEACH CLUB –Apprentice S Wilcock was fined $100 for using audible profanities during this event.
ACKER’S WAY – Near the 400m was placed in restricted room and had to be steadied.
MISS MACPHERSON – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
Following the running of this event safety concerns were raised regarding a section of the track near the 800m. After discussing this and viewing the patrol footage, it was decided that stewards would allow riders in Race 5 to also observe the footage before taking a delegation of senior riders to inspect that section of the track near the 800m. Upon inspection it was found that slip marks were present, consistent with a horse slipping and blundering. Following further discussions with the jockeys and stewards considerations, the meeting was abandoned at 3.57 pm.
