Race 1: REGIONAL EXPRESS MAIDEN PLATE - 1000 metres
DIFFERENT SHADE – Jumped inwards at the start making contact with an inside runner, shifted in approaching the 250m had to be corrected.
GYPSIES MISCHIEF – Contacted at the start.
Race 2: XXXX GOLD CLASS B HANDICAP - 1000 metres
ONE UP – Jumped away awkwardly causing the gelding to be slow into stride.
Race 3: ARTHUR MOODY MEMORIAL OPEN PLATE - 1000 metres
ONEHUNDREDCLICKS – Fractious in the barrier prior to jumping.
ALPINE GOLD – Jumped outwards and tended to lay in for the majority of the event and travelled wide for the majority. Jockey B. Richardson stated the gelding was difficult to ride out. Trainer R. Simpson said he would look into the gelding’s performance.
Race 4: D & C WALKER BM 50 HANDICAP - 1200 metres
BLETCHY BOY – Jumped away awkwardly causing the gelding to be slow away and slow into stride, then travelled wide throughout.
IBELIEVEINMIRACLES – Raced ungenerously throughout. Jockey P. Romeo stated the gelding jumped well and had a good position but when asked for more just gave nothing. A post-race veterinary inspection showed no abnormalities.
BON DANCER – Slow to begin then travelled wide for the majority with no cover.
Race 5: LONGREACH VETERINARY SERVICES CLASS 3 PLATE - 1400 metres
TUXEDO BOY – Contacted at the start and shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
BIG DON – Travelled wide for the majority of the race.
ANY GLORY – Contacted at the start then approaching the 1200m jockey P. Romeo was nearly dislodged and lost his irons when an outside runner shifted ground when not sufficiently clear. The gelding took no competitive part in the race after the incident and was treated by the veterinarian after the race for a cut to the nearside front foot.
GESSNER – Shifted ground nearing the 1200m when not sufficiently clear impeding another runner. Jockey D. Rewald pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding with his licence to ride in races suspended for 10 days commencing from midnight 14th April 2018. Jockey D. Rewald’s guilty plea and excellent record were taken into consideration when the penalty was decided.
