Race 1: ENZED BENCHMARK 55 Handicap (1000 METRES)
FIDEREUS - Rider reported failed to get going early due to huge weight.
CHINCHINBILLA - Fractious prior to the start, raced green throughout and struck the rail shortly after the finish.
TARTUFO BIANCO - Raced three wide throughout without cover.
BAUHINIA DRUM - Slow to begin raced four wide throughout without cover.
Race 2: HUSTLE CUTZ QTIS Maiden Plate (1000 METRES)
DIRT RICH – Proved difficult to load. Trainer B Trimble was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s record. Jumped out sharply at the start making heavy contact with GOOD AS A ROCKET
GOOD AS A ROCKET. Bumped on jumping and forced out as a result making contact with TATCHILLA and shifted out abruptly entering the home straight.
TATACHILLA – Bumped on jumping, raced wide throughout without cover.
JILTED GIRL - Stood flat footed refused to jump with the field and missed the start by a significant distance. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised that JILTED GIRL would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
Race 3: CFMEU BENCHMARK 45 Handicap (1170 METRES)
CHEVY – Raced five wide throughout without cover.
DUAN PHOENIX – Raced four wide without cover throughout. Jockey J Felix was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip. Stewards took into account Jockey Felix’s excellent record which was without a breach in the last 12 months.
EARL OF FORDYCE – Slow into stride.
VAMPARINA – Knuckled on jumping and lost ground, shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. Jockey W D’Avila was fined $100 for excessive use of the whip.
BONNY’S TREASURE – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start. Rider reported that the mare hung out throughout the event
LUCIFER’S ANGEL – Stewards accepted the reason from Trainer D Scultz for the late declaration of Jockey K Aho was the rider of the mare.
Race 4:HOSES 24 BENCHMARK 60 Handicap (1400 METRES)
STATIC LIFT - Slow into stride.
LUNAR SPIN - Over raced in the early stages.
SOUND INVESTMENT – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.
ON THE TWEED – Stewards acceded to a request by Trainer D Schultz to allow the gelding to race without blinkers as it was his belief that it had not at its most recent start. As this was not correct, Stewards fined Trainer D Schultz $100 for presenting the gelding with the incorrect gear.
Race 5: MORANBAH WORKERS CLUB BENCHMARK 45 Handicap (1550 METRES)
Jockey S Sheargold was fined $200 for accepting two rides in this event under AR127.
THE DECKERAIDER – Jockey K Aho replaced Jockey S Sheargold who was dually engaged. Jockey K Aho pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(a) in that approaching the 850 metres she allowed her mount to shift in and apply pressure to JACK’S DREAM for a number of strides which resulted in JACK’S DREAM being checked and losing ground. Jockey Aho’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days from midnight
Saturday 14th March 2020 up to and including midnight Sunday 22nd March 2020.
JACK’S DREAM – Checked and lost ground near the 850 metres when tightened.
CHERMSIDE MISS – Slow to begin.
CHANDON KISSES – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing at Townsville Friday 13th March 2020 and was cleared to start.
PIPEMAJOR – Stewards permitted Scott Sheargold to ride overweight when there was no other rider available. Stewards also accepted the reason for jockey Scott Sheargold being overweight.
NOTORIETY - Declared a late scratching at 12:15pm due to no rider being available.
ROCKET TO GLASGOW – Slow into stride.
