GENERAL - As apprentice D. Graham was unable to claim down to her declared riding weight she was consequently replaced on her engagements following race 3, substitutions were made as follows: Race 4: BAWAARDI ROCKET, M. Abe, permitted to ride 1.5kg above the horse's allotted weight as no other suitable rider was available. Race 5: AWESOME SIGHT S. Sheargold, Race 6: SUNNY CHIEF, J. Felix, Race 7: MISHANI GLADIATOR, M. Abe, permitted to ride .5kg above the horse's allotted weight as no other suitable rider was available. Race 8, LATCHYS GIRL, D. Simmons. App D. Graham was fined a sum of $300.
Race 1: Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues Maiden Handicap 1560m
STORM UP - Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped another runner at the start. Hung out near the 1300m and again near the 600m and had to be steadied on both occasions.
MR PALOMINO - Bumped by another runner at the start and became unbalanced, shifted out and hampering another runner.
MAGIC WELL - Prior to the race trainer T. Bannon advised stewards that it would be their intention that the gelding be ridden in a forward manner. Public announcements were made to that effect, and the gelding was ridden accordingly. Bumped by another runner at the start. Trainer T. Bannon was fined $100 under A.R. 117(3) in that she removed MAGIC WELL from the course within the prescribed time.
OPTION - Over-raced in the middle stages and threw its head in the air when being restrained on a number of occasions.
Race 2: Bennie& The Jets QTIS 3-Y-O BenchMark 60 Handicap - 1050m
TIME FOR LILLI - Bounded in the air as the start was effected and lost ground.
SCURRY - Slow to begin.
LONGING FOR - Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages when being restrained, and as a result raced 3 wide for the majority of the race.
Race 3: Candle In The Wind Maiden Handicap - 1050m
RANGA ROCKET Slow to begin and then hampered by another runner.
HE’S TERRYFIED Began awkwardly and shifted in at the start hampering another runner.
SHES ON POINT Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping another runner.
SIEGE OF ENNIS Began awkwardly and shifted in at the start bumping another runner. Inconvenienced by another runner near the 150m having to be steadied and shift wider.
MURTAHOME Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race. Shifted out abruptly when struck with the whip near the 150m inconveniencing another runner..
BOUNCE CI Wide in the early stages of the race. Rider M. Abe pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that near the 150m he permitted that runner to shift in under riding when insufficiently clear of CRAIGLEA MARIAH (J. Stanley) which had to be restrained and be taken in onto ELITE ELEMENT (D. Graham) which also had to be restrained and relinquish its position. M Abe’ licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 days to commence midnight 16 September 2017 and to expire midnight 26 September 2017.
CRAIGLEA MARIAH Slow to begin. Wide in the early stages of the race. Tightened for room near the 150m having to be restrained and alter course.
ELITE ELEMENT Had to be restrained and relinquish it position near the 150m.
Race 4: Crocodile Rock QTIS 3-Y-O Maiden Haandicap - 1200m
DROPPER ROCKET - Began awkwardly and shifted out, hampering other runners, and was then checked when awkwardly placed on heels.
NOW ASK ME - Began very awkwardly. Bumped by another runner, then raced in restricted room having to be checked and lose ground. Raced wide in the early stages. Inconvenienced by another runner approaching the winning post.
SAGRE'S POINT - When attempting to improve into a narrow run approaching the winning post had to be checked shortly after.
SIDTHEKID - Crowded for room at the start. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
BAWAAARDI ROCKET - Crowded for room at the start. Raced wide in the early stages.
ANNMARIE - Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages. Shifted out and hampered another runner approaching the winning post. Jockey S.Sheargold was reprimanded and advised to keep his mounts straight in similar circumstances.
LEND ME A TENNER - Began awkwardly, shifted in and tightened runners to its inside, despite the efforts of its rider.
Race 5: MOJO I'm Still Standing BenchMark 70 Handicap - 1800m
STAR FURY - Began awkwardly and shifted out, crowding other runners. Crowded for room passing the wining post on the first occasion.
BENTLES - Buffeted between runners on jumping. Crowded for room passing the winning post on the first occasion.
I CAN I WILL IAM - Bumped on jumping. Bumped heavily and became unbalanced near the 250m.
GORGEOUS RYDER - Slow to begin.
DODGE THE GREY - Shifted in crowding other runners passing the winning post on the first occasion. Rider M. Abe was reprimanded and advised to show greater care.
ETRANGERE - Began very awkwardly, almost dislodging its rider, resulting in the saddle shifting to the off side and placing rider D. Simmons at a distinct disadvantage and was retired from the event.
LOKUM - Shifted out near the 250m making heavy contact with another runner. Rider J. Stanley was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
Race 6: McDonald Murphy Nikita Ratings Band 0 - 60 Handicap 1050m
KAHUNA - Bumped shortly after the start.
MIS HOST - Bumped shortly after the start.
SUNNY CHIEF - Slow to begin.
AMAHERO - Slow to begin. Bumped by another runner near the 900m. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
MAGITORIAL - Hampered shortly after the start. Shifted out slightly near the 900m and bumped another runner. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
ANOTHER LISTING - Shifted in shortly after the start and hampered other runners. Bumped by another runner near the 900m.
PAYOFF - Hung out in the middle stages.
TIBYAAN - Became unbalanced near the 100m and had to be steadied.
Race 7: Marchant Signs Rocket Man Open Handicap - 1100m
CRAIGLEA DEKEN - Slow to begin.
GRAND EMPEROR - Slow to begin.
BOBCAT - Raced wide for the majority of the event.
CANNY AND THE JET - When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on the gelding today, Rider J. Stanley said that it was not his intention to lead in the race, however after beginning well the gelding commenced to race strongly and as such he was unable to restrain his mount. Trainer L. Wright confirmed those instructions and their comments were noted.
Race 8: Goodbye Yellow Brick Road Class 3 Plate - 1300 metres
GENERAL BEERS Slow to begin.
ROYAL STANDING Held up for clear running approaching and leaving the 200m until approaching the 100m.
LAMERICAN Difficulties obtaining clear running over the concluding stages of the race.
IMPERIAL ATTITUDE Disappointed for a run near the 250m having to be checked, and shifted in making contact with the running rail.
CRAIGLEA GHETTO Began awkwardly. Threw its head in the air when being restrained near the 900m.
GINGERSNAP Raced wide for the majority of the race.
LATCHYYS GIRL Raced wide for the majority of the race.
FRISKIER Raced wide for the majority of the race.
